I agree. When I've talked about how I'd rather wear gloves in a street fight with "tough guys" aka wannabe street fighters and shit, they think I'm crazy. But that's how I know they're full of shit and haven't trained significantly
@@Dementia.Pugilisticaduring my training I’ve only ever sparred with them like once or twice, I know what you mean but can you educate me on why you’d rather have them than bare fist in a street fight?
@talontalon9333 sure, a few reasons. 1) protect my own knuckles. I would break bones in my hand hitting as hard as I could if I hit someone's forehead for ex 2) it gives you a bit more range because the gloves are bigger than your fist 3) the weight of the glove can actually make you swing harder because it acts like the head of a mace, or the way a baseball bat tapers. The weight distribution is favorable. Most people think of this the other way because it's heavier than your first, but so is a baton or club or weapon like that. Your nervous system also allows you to impart maximum force when it knows you're protected - same reason why we can't actually use 100% of our muscle strength but sometimes, in times of life or death, we hear about people doing superhuman things because they've been able to override this regulatory mechanism through biochemical aid (aka adrenaline) 4) being able to grip something like a glove not only reinforces the muscle in your wrist for protection, but there's a synergistic effect with flexing muscles that allows you to activate more strength potential in other muscles in the body. If you've ever seen all those commercials advocating to wear a mouth guard for weightlifting, it's for this reason - the systems of the body work in concert because musculatures are linked in movement patterns and the nervous system is all connected 5) larger surface area to block/defend There's probably others, but these are the ones that came to mind immediately and I've already written quite a bit. I talk about lots of nuanced and advanced concepts of sport science and training for martial arts like this on my channel if you'd like to check it out!
How would you improve punching power? Provided technique is already there and diet is on point? Every other day 10 rounds on heavy bag focus on power shots?

Even 8 oz gloves are designed to protect your hand, matter of fact traditional boxing gloves have more padding to ensure you can put as much kinetic energy behind the strike as you can.
I tell ppl that dont train getting hit wit those gloves on is worse then bare fist. U can punch a brick wall and no feel shit 😮 now imagine what i can do to yr face or ribcage
Myth busters busted this, I don’t remember exactly but a bare knuckle punch only had around 8 more pounds of pressure than mma gloves, boxing gloves had wayyyyyy less. Look it up mythbusters tested it
@@Brayden_97 Checked the mythbusters episode and the 8 pounds of force difference was between mma and boxing glove, there was a huge difference to bare knuckle
Muay Thai with MMA gloves is insane.
Back when muay thai used to have no gloves

All gloves even in boxing are to protect your hands not your opponent
Coming from a guy who's had alot of street fights, my hands are fucked now because I thought I was tough when I was younger.
Paddy is more clout than knowledge...
That s why i turn my entire hands into lethal weapons by not using gloves on heavy bags
paddy gonna hate on boxing gloves because he's a grappler, but in reality they hit just as hard, only have a bigger surface area
They're hating on the UFC gloves not the boxing gloves lol

People also don't understand how fucking hard that little padding actually is. I'd rather get hit bareknuckle.
The reach and defens change too, not much but it's notable
For me defence is almost the biggest difference you have to defend so differently in mma gloves than the thick 16oz gloves
Please ring boys don't talk mma like it's anywhere near fighting on raod trained fighter trained mma fighter different.....
