Yeah, I remember reading patch notes and seeing that you could now jump from an enchantment table to the top of your bookshelves if you had a maxed out setup which was cool.
The difference is very very small, and doesn't impact any actual parkour jumps, except this one, to my knowledge

For those wondering thy this happens, it's because in 1.9 the game's physics were slightly tweaked. The part that is relevant, is something called the "minimum speed threshold". Basically, it's a number that dictates when to stop. If a player's speed goes under that threshold, your speed is set to 0. In 1.8, this value was set at 0.005, but in 1.9 it was lowered to 0.003. This applies to both vertical and horizontal speed, which is why you jump higher.
In 1.8, the furthest you go is just slightly below 1.25 (1.249something idk the rest). In 1.9, your increased jump height allows you to barely pass the 1.25 mark. (around 1.252). This also does have a slight difference in horizontal movement, being that you slide on the ground (no input) a bit more. (This does make a big difference in advanced parkour where precise coordinates are needed).
And no, this doesn't make you jump further as your airtime is still 12 ticks. You just go a bit higher/lower each tick.

This isn't a glitch, also if you replace the enchantment table with an end portal frame, it would then be possible on 1.8
In 1.9+ you can jump higher which is a minecraft problem not a hypixel problem meaning they probably can't patch it but idk.

i knew about this because my skyblock enchant table setup had bookcases all around and i just jumped out since i was on 1.9+ and was confused when i couldn't after i switched to 1.8.9

actually playing in 1.16 makes certain jumps harder, its actually best to play parkour in 1.9-1.12 if you want the jump height but 1.8 is still the recommended version
No? If you are playing 1.8 parkour maps then yeah...but if you are playing 1.9+ parkour maps you should play 1.9+...it's not that either one is "better" for parkour, they're just slightly different...

1.8.9 is best for parkour, movement was changed in some later versions and air shift taps are inconsistsnt in 1.16, and you can blip in 1.8.9

9:35 i have to say that jumping higher doesn't move faster😂, jumping higher actually makes u move the same speed/slower. Basically everytime you jump you move faster, thats how headhitter and elevatation momentum works. Since u jump higher, you have more airtime, which makes you slower

I could talk for ages about version incompatilibities. I have a lot of experience. In fact many of them can be found if you have played hypixel housing for a while.
Ladder, glass pane/iron bar, sneak height etc. changes can cause rubberband and make eg. parkour houses impossible in 1.9+, but sometimes they can be reversed making 1.8 impossible. 1.13+ started changing more things, such as sign and trapdoor rubberbanding in 1.14. And these are just some of the most common ones.
Although often in housing I can still complete the levels that change for 1.9+ if they are not impossible (I play in 1.12 don't judge) because I'm good at parkour.
P.S. Most of these changes don't affect heavily other games on hypixel, mainly housing

This thing is known in parkour community since mojang made jump higher. Jumps like 1,25b high or water 3bc aren't possible in 1.8.9 without jump boost, levitation or tnt knockback, but they are very good choice for blip ups, method which makes you be able to jump higher

The best part about this trap is that people see you doing the jump and sees that you don't place blocks or is close enough to the trap so they would try to make the jump as well.
In 1.16 if you jump from an enchant table or something the same height you can hit the corner of a hitbox and basically glitch through because of how barely the hitboxs touch
Here's another advantage:
In version 1.15.2 or higher, you can sprint while eating or crouching. That's not a thing in 1.14.4 and lower. That also makes the player faster.

i think i can explain the jump height difference i realized on 1.16 you’re able to land on he very corner of th block meaning if you are barely below the block height like a hundredth of the block lower, 1.16 will transfer you up to the block on the corner, i can trigger this with normal parkour too so i guess it works like that

I randomly figured the jump height by myself while making a snow jump with 3 snow layers which is the minimum you can jump up

In 1.8.9 a enchant table is considered as kinda like a taller slab but still gives the slab height this was fixed later on :D

In 1.8.9 you can do a 5 block jump from an enchanting table to any normal block on the same Y level. Use this wisely

ikr thats when this change started annoying me since i was able to jump out of enchanting rooms on 1.16 survival but not use enchantment tables as blocks under me or also in skyblock jumping from enchant table to bookshelves
i actually noticed this before, when i tried using an enchantment table as a block, and i remembered i was able to make this jump in my 1.16 survival (enchantment table to bookshelves) but not on 1.8 on hypixel (not only using enchant table as a block but also getting out of enchantment room in hypixel skyblock) and it was really weird

if you were wondering the difference between 1.8.9 and 1.9+ is 0.125 blocks, or 1/8 of a block. in 1.8 you jump 1.125 blocks and in 1.9+ you jump 1.25 blocks

This is what happens when you let multiple different client versions connect to your server.
This is also what happens when you make a controversial combat update to your game.
People thinks jump boost gives you an advantage while its the exact opposite since while in mid-air they can simply knock you into the void
and being mid-air decreases your knockback resistance meaning you get more knockback but jumping actually is necessary when it comes to crit hits
but i still recommend jumping just not a jump boost
In 1.9 - latest version you dont jump higher but between versions mojang made the enchantment table from 0.8 blocks to 0.9 blocks

What you should do is have the trap ready without the enchant table, spam blocks about 5 blocks away from it, make the last block you spam an enchantment table and just run inside your base or with perspective mod. This should overall increase the efficiency of this trap.
