  • As we know Ken Roczen had committed to race the new World Supercross series a few months back, but what we didn't know is how his current team reacted to the situation and that he is currently now a free agent..
    Thank you to Ken and his agent Steve Astephen for reaching out to share their story.

    I hate to say it, this was Honda’s excuse to get out of Kenny’s top dollar contract. Chase and the Lawrence brothers are their guys. Kenny is unlikely to get a title in 2023, and they know that. Sad, I’m a huge fan of Ken!

      Well, at least Ken stuck to his guns and decided that WSX was too important for him to back out of. It sounds like Honda gave him a choice, since they were already in a contract with him, and I guess they couldn’t just cancel it… so instead they decided to strong arm him into deciding one or the other. That is, if everything Ken’s saying is true.

    • @NevadaSmith2

      @@johnnyvivic8730 Yeahh, I’m totally on Ken’s side. That said, I kinda question how it exactly went down. At first it sounded as if he outright turned down the offer over the WSX thing. But then the story kind of evolved into Honda rescinding the offer -as in, no way he could get the contract back. I get it from Ken’s standpoint: he wants to still look as appealing as possible for potential contract with Star, Redbull KTM, etc. I sure hope Ken figures it out. I’d love to see him fight for a championship and win more races!

    • @Davinhomx
      @Davinhomx Год назад +1

      @@aj-vasquez9017 nearly accurate. But to make it make even more sense. They would have kept roczen for 450SX and Jett would be 450MX. We know near to for a fact that Sexton is leaving. So there is a ride open even with Jett for 2023/24. And a fully healthy Roczen is better then Hunter all day every day every year ever. So they could have looked if he could beat epstin bar next season. And after that decide between him and Hunter. It actually makes sense that they offered him a contract and I don't think that they wanted to get rid of him. I think they are pissed about WSX. To hold a world series is way more expensive for teams if it becomes something fully fletched. All the manufacturers have legacy in american SX. Just look at what happened to your american street bike races over the last 20 years. Completly obliterated by MotoGP and World Superbike Championship. Honda probably has good connections to feld. I was reading in the comment section that anderson wanted to race too but Kawi didn't allow it neither. If it was about cutting kenny then why not selling him his setup?. Ken claims he wanted to pay for it. He is easily gonna be top 3 there and in the european round he is gonna be the fan favourit. You'd think that's good publicity for honda if he wins there right. And he would have bought the setup even without a contract just to at the end feel comfortable and in reality make honda look good. That's a freakin win win for Honda. Other people pay for ken to even participate there as he said he is getting good money to race WSX. So it makes no sense. Nah this goes deeper. In reality honda has the up and coming ama supercross star in jett lawrence. He is marketable and very fast and (roczen was faster at that age so you never know if he is gonna win a title) has a chance on multiple titles. If you look at it that way it actually makes sense. Honda does not want the WSX to succeed rn. Why should they, they have the hottest horse in the established series coming up and this is an attack on that series wich leaves the future more open and not as save as it is with AMA SX only
