- As we know Ken Roczen had committed to race the new World Supercross series a few months back, but what we didn't know is how his current team reacted to the situation and that he is currently now a free agent..
Thank you to Ken and his agent Steve Astephen for reaching out to share their story.

A man of the people 👏
You guys have a good one there! Let’s go!!!
Your company is giving to the action sports athletes! Do something big for Ken this year!😎👍
Kenny is one of a kind humble and respectful man. He sure is a keeper dispite the situation he's in. Take care of this man.
@@EarthSurferUSA I think Red Bull meant Ken likes to race for the fans as much as himself. However, he sure isn't giving up his salary to the people... lol. Who would? I definitely think we have a corrupt government from Democrat's to RINO's to Socialists to Communists influences that seem to have laws for we, but not for thee... ✌😎
@@EarthSurferUSA Honda should relax and jump up and flip and support his European races wide open! Think how the people will appreciate that! Go Honda!
Man, I really love having James back on the scene. Every time I see him, I’m filled with nostalgia. Such great analysis and conversations going on in this room.
And it's only gonna get batter. I wanna see gypsy and bubba team up for a collab pod.
👌🏼👌🏼
@@n1k0n_ gypsy doesnt have game for bubba man
Let's face it, JS7 is down to 140.
We're about to see the resurgence of JS7.
For sure
Sounds like Honda is still the controlling/ micro managing team it has been since the 80s. Mad respect for him for standing his ground
Not just Honda, seems like multiple big teams are pressuring their riders in this same way to keep them from racing these new events outside of the US.
They make huge investments in these contracts. An injury off season in a series Honda is not concentrating on that costs a rider a season here makes bad financial risk.
Yup..one of the reasons Honda hasn’t won a big bike title in a llloooonnngggg time. I wish Chase would leave and leave Honda hangin. I think Jett will take a bit to win a championship on 450s
@@rufuss7970 I’d actually love to see Chase on Star Yamaha since he’s already a Monster athlete. He would be amazing on that bike.
@@rufuss7970 Chase is rumored to be leaving after the 2023 seasons. GasGas is the supposed team. Often times those swaps don’t work out for the rider or new team. Especially when going to such a drastic chassis change (Aluminum to steel). Jett will be competitive in relatively short order. The 450 will suit him better than the 250.
All in all, Kenny really is an integrity example, just look at what he just did for his European fans… nobody would ever do such a thing, he truly and deeply is dedicated to his fans and have always been, this man is a legend. I’m from Europe and I absolutely love that guy. Even for him to choose James’ podcast to spread the news is such a Kenny move, the whole thing just feels fantasticly right, Ken my man, just never change, the sport absolutely needs more guys like you, such a role model thank you 🤍
you are high ! ken has always been up close and personal
]@NoChill Jib
LOL!!!!
"just look at what he just did for his European fans… nobody would ever do such a thing, he truly and deeply is dedicated to his fans and have always been, this man is a legend"
LOL! well he say "F* You" to all his euro fanboys and all his fans around the world during all his career, never raced the Bercy SX or a single ADAC SX in germany and probably never raced a SX in europe at all, and don't race a MXN in europe for years
"he truly and deeply is dedicated to his fans and have always been, this man is a legend. I’m from Europe and I absolutely love that guy."
You are just a fanboy with stupid beliefs, it's like a supporter of Putin who say good things about putin
@@fliarshypocritestothebones5698 you mad bro?
This is the first real legit podcast Kenny has be ln on in persone this is so sick bubba we need more of these you and gypsy tails are on top
i can't stand gypsy tails lol
Gypsy tales is garbage, same with pulp
Bubba with the breaking news before anyone. Just goes to show Kenny knew where to go because Bubba’s world is legit.
Bubba getting that breaking news! God, I love seeing Bubba back in MX/SX.
Elephant in the room…. SuperMotocross World Championship. This is good to see Kenny sticking up for himself and growth of the sport instead of lining Feld’s pockets.
Dustin, agreed and Hondas pockets too!
@@EarthSurferUSA he means that by doing WSX he’s not padding Felds pockets
@@EarthSurferUSA not at all the same thing. These are professional athletes. They give life and limb (albeit voluntarily) for their sport. I think they oughta be allowed some freedom. First place in supercross pays 12k….I’m not gonna risk my life for 12k. If factory incentives and bonuses weren’t a thing, riders would be fucked (aka privateers)
This was my first thought, they must be putting some pressure on the OEM’s to not support the WSX series. I’m assuming that they will be wanting Eli to drop out too even if he is just a wildcard!
@EarthSurferUSA Always bootlicking.
This was incredible! We need more guests on the show. James showed on tv in the nationals hes a natural at interviews and hes one of the biggest ppl in the sport. So happy to have more choices these days and lots of moto content.
Gotta respect Roczen for taking a stand and sticking to a commitment. I hope he is able to get the health/fitness issues figured out, because he still may be the most capable rider on the planet. I'd like to see him win and be successful again.
Stuff the money, go have a working holiday and still earn enough to chill out
I've always wondered if he deals with opiate issues after all those injuries...he's been different since then. I love him to death but it's a valid question. Shit happens to the best of em.
@@jordanemede That never occurred to me until I read your comment. You make a valid point and now.i wonder myself..
@@Scandle68 I grew up racing and it happened a lot. I love K Roc he is awesome but I wonder about it occasionally. Could be the source of his problems after those really bad injuries. I hope not but as you said it's, at least, valid. Maybe someday we'll find out but for Kenny and his family sake hopefully I'm a a nut job and couldn't be further off lol
Love the transparency from Ken and bubba ask all the right questions! I support both guys in their new adventures… whatever that looks like!
Thank you Kenny for being so open and honest with all your fan. I’m stoked for you Kenny!
5 min in and I realized they where looking for a reason to drop him.... Come back stronger Ken!
Thats what I'm thinking.
The millions excuses' kid from germany know how stupid fanboyz he got.. he can say everything he want to manipulate people his fanboyz will always love to eat all the sh!t he trow at them..
@Dick Pound I'm having personal problems that I will share shortly and I am doing what I can to build the discord for us.
They supported him for 5 years of illness, come on
@@macedhx Thats kinda my point my guy, they are done. Been looking for a reason now they have new talent coming up.
Honestly happy he’s doing what he wants. If you’re not happy doing what you’re doing, then don’t do it. If this makes him happy racing over seas then so be it. I’m happy for him and hope to see a team pick him up for the 2023 season.
he's going to race the washed up riders so he can win lol
All I know is the KTM guys aren’t really killing it right now, neither is Ferrandis or AC lately and Ken can flat out ride still. He is consistently good for a top 5 when healthy and will win a heat race and a main at times too. People better step their game up with him on the market. 👀
Ken is not leaving rebull im feeling he is going gas gas
Ken sells more bikes than any other rider except for et3 lol the reason they pay so much to have a rider is what they can do for the brand, thats all it comes down to when the big investor's look at it and if kr94 sell's 200 bikes compared to any other top 5 rider selling 50-100 bikes can guarantee you a few million more will be offered to have that brand marketing
@@westonrountree gas gas still has barcia until 2023 . I don't see them as teamates
@@matthewwest1262 I don't think the bike you buy has a 450 pros name attached to it lol I've never made my decision on a bike based off a pro who's got a bike I'll never be able to buy in a dealership lol
@@seanslattery6366 I can its either that or ktm because of this interview he definitely seems to be loyal to redbull and don't see him going to any of the monster teams. I've also heard rumors that rockstar will be leaving husky so that's also a possibility if he can run redbull lids
Kenny straight chilling with the foot on the tables cross bar. This man's a goat!
James always at the front of the pack.
Glad to see ROCZEN coming overseas.
Tho i bet ya he will be bk in US for start of Supercross season Jan'23.
Thank you James and Ken for this interview!! Ken we all love you and want to see you back on the line for 2023!!
Thanks for the interview, Ken! We don't often get this much honesty out of top riders.
Love seeing the 259 in the background! Congrats on the cutting edge news, already better than pulp. Wish the best for Ken still think he has more in the tank
Pulp has been going downhill. I used to defend matthes and now honestly can't stand him, eating on air, shitting on the country that gave him a career.
@@BobbyGeneric145 I still like his content but he is a tough guy to like for sure.
Matthes is the easiest person to dislike and he does it to himself. He thinks his poo don't stink. And lemme tell you. It stink.
Ken Roczen is a MX superstar! Hope he keeps racing in US. 👍💯
Thanks Kenny, as an Aussie I definitely appreciate you coming down under to give us a show! Cooper Webb was my fav 250 rider and was lucky to see him race at Sydney sx years ago, it made the event for us. Ken will make this event just as special for us! Up Kenny 💪🏻
James! Can you please do an episode about contracts! I really want to hear what is inside these racing contracts.
Choices are available once money isn't the motivation...great to hear
The best interview ever, open and honest. Loved it. 👌
Pretty sick Ken is on here in studio
James just gave a top level interview. Textbook perfect. If you noticed he not once throughout the entire interview interrupt the interviewee or finish his sentences for him. He let him complete all of their thoughts before he started speaking. There are some podcasters, whom I enjoy, that do that constantly... finish the interviewees sentences for them. (Hello gypsy :-))
I say let's get Kenny into some Seven gear for more International presence for a couple of those races!
Great job James!
Man! Awesome! Thanks for having him on! And thanks for coming on Ken! I hope you left with some good vibes from James. I'm sure you'll go out and crush a few races this year! Excited to watch ⚡️⚡️🔥🔥💨💨
Good luck Kenny awesome content as always James 👏 👌
such a great interview.. All the stuff that real fans want to know and hear.. thank you JS7.
You heard it here first on Bubba's World podcast.
Thanks James for everything you've been doing for us in the sport. So glad you're back.
Without question, your best interview yet James! Your podcast/journalism chops have become legit. As for Roczen, WTF?!! This kid has been through the ringer!! Honda, shameful turning your back on such a talent. I don’t believe he is done spraying champagne by a long shot. Mad props to both these young men, great interview! 👍🏻
Having James back in motocross is amazing.
Awesome interview James Stewart. I think you guys will be able to help improve the Motocross and supercross industry with this innovative podcast keep bringing on the stars of today and the stars of tomorrow. My new favorite podcast channel
You are a great interviewer James! Great talent. I love your show and its good to have you back!!!
Mad respect for both these guys! Great conversation and very reasonable and respectful for all parties involved, nobody was throwing anyone under the bus or typical online BS you see online. I think JS7 presents a great pod for these guys to open up about how they feel or believe. Good stuff, 👍
So much respect for you ken everything you’ve been through just with injuries alone not even counting health issues would have ended most peoples careers your a straight up warrior an you tell it like it is don’t let some non fan that wishes he had 1% of your talent get you down with there negativity your true fans were behind you 100% keep throwing those heel clickers with the checkered flag flying suntan necks on fire 🔥
I feel bad for Kenny, if it wasn’t for that horrific injury I think he’d have more titles. A healthy Kenny is unreal!
Great interview james, definitely asked the questions we all wanted to hear, and love how open kenny is throughout the interview! props🤙🤙
Thanks Kenny for doing this interview and shedding light on the struggles you've been dealing with. I'm a huge fan and so much respect for you & the way you've come back from injuries that would have ended the careers of 99% of racers. You're still capable of winning if you can solve your health issues. It's not surprising that you still have lingering effects from those traumatic injuries. How could you not? I love that you still, after all the difficulties you've faced, have such a burning desire to race and win. You're an inspiration to those of us who've watched how you've dealt with hardship. Hope you can find the answers you need to get back to your potential. We know it's possible. Even with all you've gone through to still be consistently top 10 every race is amazing. If you get back to your potential you certainly can be back on top.
Good for you Kenny! Sticking to your commitments! Screw Honda! You aren’t the only one Honda did dirty! RC got done wrong by them, going behind his back when he hurt his knee and tried to hire James Stewart! It should be up to the rider on what races they wanna race in the off-season! I understand Honda wants to protect their investment but they push the riders so hard to win in SX and outdoors that they can get hurt. But in all the years of Straight Rhythm I haven’t seen someone get hurt racing that! And Kenny is a veteran of the sport he knows what to do on a bike! His fans wanna see him race! That’s good for Honda! Kenny wins and Honda sells more bikes! Like James said Honda should support him!
Great interview James. Ken is an amazing rider. However, Honda may have felt Chase and Jett are the future for their 450 class. I could be wrong.
Chase is apparently leaving Honda. That's why they wanted to keep Roczen.

They really missed a funny opportunity they should have put Kenny under the table and had him pop out like James always says
Wonder how many team's are seeing this and are scrambling to figure out away to get Ken. Lol
Best of luck, Kenny. Keep on, keeping on. Thanks, for all your past and future contributions to the sport.

Love you Bubba. Always good to see you
Wow this is a bad ass interview good job Bubba I think you asked all the questions that everyone has been waiting for and Kenny good job you do every one proud keep working your ass off this is a big up you will only get better from here in a career changing move… can’t wait to see you in Australia… very good interview….
I hate to say it, this was Honda’s excuse to get out of Kenny’s top dollar contract. Chase and the Lawrence brothers are their guys. Kenny is unlikely to get a title in 2023, and they know that. Sad, I’m a huge fan of Ken!
I wouldn’t count Ken out, can’t discount a talent like that, easily the most talented rider since bubba
Of course! Hes wasted money....GONE. Hes WAY past all done.
@@crosfrancis8239 I didn’t say count him out. But Honda did.
Well, at least Ken stuck to his guns and decided that WSX was too important for him to back out of. It sounds like Honda gave him a choice, since they were already in a contract with him, and I guess they couldn’t just cancel it… so instead they decided to strong arm him into deciding one or the other. That is, if everything Ken’s saying is true.
@@johnnyvivic8730 Yeahh, I’m totally on Ken’s side. That said, I kinda question how it exactly went down. At first it sounded as if he outright turned down the offer over the WSX thing. But then the story kind of evolved into Honda rescinding the offer -as in, no way he could get the contract back. I get it from Ken’s standpoint: he wants to still look as appealing as possible for potential contract with Star, Redbull KTM, etc. I sure hope Ken figures it out. I’d love to see him fight for a championship and win more races!
That 259 is glorious 😍
Kenny would be a great beginning of a much needed AMA pro riders union!
Two legends in one podcast 👊👊 great insight thank you 🙏
Wow! Crazy. Ken will have multiple opportunities. Bubba with news scoop though! 👍🏾
Did you happen to see the video that pulpmx with Mitch Payton put out yesterday? Totally disrespecting James's 125 career. I can't believe there isn't people commenting about it.
@@acecheeks9495 I am not worried about what Mitch thinks of Bubba’s career. Bubba’s accomplishments speak for themselves. He did the dang thing to the max, period. If people want to worry their little heads to find reasons to hate, let them hate. Who cares what he thinks lol.

Thanks James. Another great one with a great racer
Thanks Kenny. Was there at the Melbourne race and watching you was awesome.
Kenny is the man. I've always been a 'homer' rooting for Americans over Europeans in our home series EXCEPT for Kenny. He is such an awesome dude and impossible not to root for.
%100 agree I like how he opens up and keeps it real and he had always treated his fans well.
Ken is a great sportsman and a great competitor. I wish him all the best.
Kenny thanks for showing your commitment to your fans and other sponsors. Awesome 👌 Don't worry, be happy 😃
I hope what ever Kenny does, he's happy and keeps God first.
I’ve been and still am a huge fan of Kenny, he’s one of my favorite riders, this whole situation sounds more like Honda is dropping him for a reason and they’re using this opportunity as an excuse. Like James said there’s more to it… after the last couple seasons with Kenny’s constant illness I feel like this is a nice way of Honda saying well, see ya later
Yeah but then again. If that's the case. Why offer at all?. It's not like there aren't many racers that would kill for that ride.
This is spot on...
They were gonna keep Kenny for 2023supercross then Jett for 450 out doors and then boot Kenny in my opinion
@@aj-vasquez9017 maybe Jett looking too good on the 450, a go for supercross?
Also some rumors about Sexton potentially leaving, maybe they got him resigned and decided Kenny wasn't worth it
@@aj-vasquez9017 nearly accurate. But to make it make even more sense. They would have kept roczen for 450SX and Jett would be 450MX. We know near to for a fact that Sexton is leaving. So there is a ride open even with Jett for 2023/24. And a fully healthy Roczen is better then Hunter all day every day every year ever. So they could have looked if he could beat epstin bar next season. And after that decide between him and Hunter. It actually makes sense that they offered him a contract and I don't think that they wanted to get rid of him. I think they are pissed about WSX. To hold a world series is way more expensive for teams if it becomes something fully fletched. All the manufacturers have legacy in american SX. Just look at what happened to your american street bike races over the last 20 years. Completly obliterated by MotoGP and World Superbike Championship. Honda probably has good connections to feld. I was reading in the comment section that anderson wanted to race too but Kawi didn't allow it neither. If it was about cutting kenny then why not selling him his setup?. Ken claims he wanted to pay for it. He is easily gonna be top 3 there and in the european round he is gonna be the fan favourit. You'd think that's good publicity for honda if he wins there right. And he would have bought the setup even without a contract just to at the end feel comfortable and in reality make honda look good. That's a freakin win win for Honda. Other people pay for ken to even participate there as he said he is getting good money to race WSX. So it makes no sense. Nah this goes deeper. In reality honda has the up and coming ama supercross star in jett lawrence. He is marketable and very fast and (roczen was faster at that age so you never know if he is gonna win a title) has a chance on multiple titles. If you look at it that way it actually makes sense. Honda does not want the WSX to succeed rn. Why should they, they have the hottest horse in the established series coming up and this is an attack on that series wich leaves the future more open and not as save as it is with AMA SX only
That's huge bubba!
Best of luck to both of you, really love to watch you guys race...
Awesome interview ...thankyou JS7 and of course Kroc94
Love Ken, one of my favorite riders, however the last two years I felt he needed a change from Honda, much like Eli to Yamaha and Jason to Kawi. I think the change would be amazing for him and the team to get him.
You're right, but for a good few reasons, I also think it might be too late unfortunately. But the fans might win here, as he can now go on an amazing free-agent tour before he retires.
Considering what being happy did for Tomac, I believe Ken can have similar success on Star Yamaha. But tbh... it's got to be a comfortable fit for Ken. I think he should try to ride a few and see... KTM gave Webb that championship after his slump... Anderson on kx... and Ozbourne & Malcolm on Husqies...There could be some magic waiting to happen w the right fit. Love you both! Great interview! Thanks for all the Bad A$$ rides you guys gave us fans! Sunreal bros!
And tbh, Ken has more potential than all of them had before changing over, he is definitely the most talented rider since bubba
Idk I don't think Kenny can ride like used to with all them injuries
