Iran's president ‘missing’ after helicopter crashes in fog

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is reportedly missing after a helicopter he was travelling in was forced to make a “hard landing,” according to state media.
A large-scale search operation is underway, involving Red Crescent rescue teams, military personnel, and police support units, Tasnim news agency reported.
Local residents have reported foggy conditions in the area, which is hindering efforts to locate the helicopter and determine its status.
Other officials onboard the helicopter included the governor of East Azerbaijan province and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.

Hard landing would imply that they are in contact with the helicopter and were informed that it landed but obviously that is not the fact as they have deployed search teams and don't have communication with them and the helicopter is equipped with GPS means it probably crashed.

Contact has been established with two passengers who were onboard Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter that crash landed in northwestern Iran, Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri said.
"We got in touch with two people who were onboard the helicopter several times. It looks like that the accident is not serious," the IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.
According to Mansouri, there were three helicopters and radio contact was lost with the one carrying the president. He said that contact was established with "one of the passengers and a crew member." "We can assume that the accident was not very serious," he noted.
