AWESOME !! I have been sorting out stuff and have big box of magazines to donate to thrift store BUT now that i see this, i will be getting box out of my car and creating with them !!!! Oh well, so much for trying to declutter 😄
Love to make artsy glue books...sometimes adding loved ones faces onto a person or animals body. Some pages tell a story, rhyme, prayer or joke. Just found your channel and enjoyed your style and content.
Your video is one of the best I've seen on book making .... The recycling aspect pulled me in. I finally now have a use for all those old Vogues I've saved for 30 years -- will make them into sketch pads... Thank you so very much! ♥️
Yay!!! Yes, they can get super chunky!! I love a chunky book, they are fun to work in and when you finish them, you feel so accomplished. At least I do!
Fantastic idea and one I am going to use! I am a newer follower that’s why I’m watching a year later! I just love your channel so much. Thank you for sharing Nicole 👋🏻
When I made mine I folded the pages like you did but left it long. It made a long narrow book. I love looking through it and it was a really fun project.
Hi Nicole! So happy I found your channel because I think I could really get into junk journaling but I don’t have access to the materials I would need, so your type of book is more feasible for me. TFS.
Thanks for introducing me to the Glue book idea. A wonderful alternative for adding little scraps and snippets of images, colors and other things that inspire and just simply brighten your day. I've added a Glue book to my list of things to do before the year is finished. Love every piece of paper you added. So lovely!
I love this SO much, I'm trying it right away! My husband is cutting the magazines for me, but says it will be easier to cut first and fold the pages afterward, so I'll try it that way and see how it goes.
This was fantabulous. You are something else. Very clear. I never saw the first one. This was fantastic. I'm blown away. Could not imagine how you were going to cut it.
Hi Nicole, I'm new to your channel and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Would you consider doing a part 2? please excuse my ignorance but I never did this before and would love to try if you could please elaborate on how to finish the pages and the outer cover? Thanks in advance X
I'm enjoying myself so much, sitting watching Match Game reruns from the 70s on tv and folding my magazine. Since mine will be more of a junky junk journal, i decide which direction to fold each page according to which side of the page has more pleasing colors or images. I can't stop flipping through the colorful edges of the pages and smooshing the cover down and letting it spring back up, so much fun! 😂 Your book cover says "sunny day" and my book cover says "fresh & sunny" 🌞
Ive made these before but left them long..now that ive seen them cut in half Im obsessed with them again..Ive got a ton of mags and ive been making them all day..Thanks!
Same! I love the long skinny version, thats how I made them in the past, but these smaller ones are so fun for a weekend project, or a smaller glue book to take on vacations and stuff.
This is perfect and so much easier than how I have done them in the past, I just subscribed, thank you for sharing. This is so clever and you have a grand base to go.
After seeing the previous video, I sat down and made 3. I used the cheap mail catalogs for mine so I did have to move a staple + re staple it using my long arm stapler, then I added masking tape over the staples. Next instead of cutting in half I cut them to the size of some TNs I have so they can be used as inserts for whatever type of glue/art/junk journal. You are very right in the fact it is relaxing. Now I can't stop making them lol! -Heather
I loved this video, upcycliing at it's best! I was wondering if if would be safer to use your ruler cork side down while you cut; it's less slippery. Keep creating, and thank you!
...ok, was super excited to try this, & I DID!...I was trying to figure out why my pages were" wiggling", prompting me to go back & tape the creases. Upon looking back on this video, I realized that that magazine had a glued binding, whereas the magazine I had was stapled...just an FYI🥰
This idea is awesome! Surprisingly, until last week, I had never heard of glue books or junk journals. :) Looking forward to using this idea with some old magazines! Great upcycling!
Hi Nicole!!! W@W!!!! I Absotively Posilutely LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS TECHNIQUE!!! SO MUCH it is almost 1 a.m and just inspired so much I had to dig out a travel mag my sigs gave me a couple yrs back! So, phase 1 is accomplished.. folded the pages and took out some pages I wanted to use in another project or two and decided I could use the sturdier covers for tucks after folding....So later today I'm going to c just prepping, then cut in half..and start decirating!! WhooHoo! I was starting to get a little tired of regular journal making so taking a break and learning new to me ideas for embellishing, and comparing design.. What FUN!!! It's very got so many supplies I've been hoarding, just looking for cool ways to use/ recycle!! Hugs and 💗 for sharing this my Dear!!!! Very Greatful!💐👍🙋🌹
Thank you. This was a great tutorial. I would like to mention that working as a layout artist for many many years I wanted to point out that when you use your metal ruler, the reason there is cork on the backside is to keep your metal ruler from sliding around when using a blade knife. I apologize for pointing this out, I am only concerned for safety, I by no means want to take away from your wonderful tutorial. But be safe with that blade knife and make sure the cork is down so your metal ruler will not slide while pressing so hard to cut your paper material. Another tip is to clean your cork with mild soap and soft wet cloth occasionally. Wipe/rinse soap off with soft damp cloth and let dry. That will keep the surface clean and keep a grip on paper you press against. If you leave dirt build up on the cork side from crative crafting it can build up to a slippery surface. Best wishes, thanks for your tutorial, I am sharing with my friends. 😀
Thank you but I use it that way for a reason. When you are cutting and using it the “correct” way, your blade can slide under the ruler giving you a wonky line. I’ve been using this ruler this way in my business for over a decade and never have had a problem.
Thank you for sharing this fabulous idea! I’ve never seen or heard of a glue book; and now, I’m obsessed! I love Love LOVE it!! I can’t wait to watch some more of your videos!
This explains everything so well. Thank you. I wonder if you could collage in those books that are stories and as you read the page you fold it. The end result is a design. I got them at Ollie's a few years back.
Every time I go into Aldi or Lidl I pick up a couple of their weekly magazines just in case I can use something from them. This is even better. I can't wait to try these out. Thank you for the inspiration x
Love this idea. It inspired me to make a long version, instead of cutting it in half and making two books. This is going to be so much fun. Thank you for sharing this idea!
It has been fun doing this magazine book, still working on it and have started a few smaller ones using Prevention magazines. Soooo much fun . thanks again!
Oh Sheila…they are so fun and relaxing!! There are no rules, just glue! There are so many different styles and types as well. If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask!
Thank you so much Nicole, I really really enjoyed watching you create these magazine glue books. Yet another thing on my list of thing’s to do!!!!!!! Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
OMG🤗🤗🤗 I just love this project! I have a huge stack of magazines I have been deciding how to dispose of. Your tutorial……….right here……now I know what I’m going to “ make” with them. So happy to have found your channel and new subscriber for sure. 🥰
Yay! I'm so glad you've been inspired to create, have fun and if you feel up to it you can share your pictures with us in my facebook group! (the link is in my description box or on my "about" page)
Stumbled across your videos this morning while drinking coffee and listening to the garbage trucks out and had to see where you were at with a reference to the weather also peaking my interest. I was sure you were a neighbor. Lol, but I live down the valley from you. Your so fun and I'm really enjoying how real you are. Look forward to watching more of your videos.
The cork bottom on that ruler was meant to be against what you’re cutting. It’s for gripping. You can add little “glue dots” if it’s still too slippery. Great tutorial!
I know that, but thank you ❤️ There’s a method to my madness. The cork adds a small gap between the cork and the metal ruler. It makes it so your blade can slide under and give you an uneven cut. If you flip it over, you will get a straight, perfect cut.
Maybe strawberries are in our collective conscience these days because last night as I was drifting toward sleep I decided to make a layout with a giant strawberry image.
I LOVE THAT!!! When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Strawberry Shortcake (the cartoon), my whole room was decorated head to toe with Strawberries! I absolutely love them :)
Hi Nicole. I’m delighted to have found you. Love this work. The end result is amazeballs!! I’m going to give this a try. I’m a new subbie. Sending best regards and hugs to you from South Africa 🇿🇦. I’m recovering from COVID after being quite ill. So you are keeping me company. Love your chit chat makes me happy. I will be looking at magazines with new eyes ⭐️💫⭐️💫⭐️💫😊
Awww thank you so much for your kind words Georgie!!! I'm so happy to have you here, thank you for subbing! I'm so sorry you got Covid, how scary! I'm hoping and praying for continued healing and strength as you recover
Hi Nicole, I enjoyed the tutorial on beginners glue bk. Posted my first one today 3/12 so relaxing. I normally do Abstracts, and Watercolor. I welcome the change. Thank you so much, will do more. Veronica🤩
I only discovered glue books this year and subscribed to your channel but never really did anything because I just didn't "get it". But I was compelled to follow along with this tutorial with an old cross-stitch magazine I had. Then I started gluing some things down here and there and I "got it". The funny thing is, I gave my nieces little homemade journals and stickers and one told me "I never thought it would be fun to put stickers on paper" :D So now like a month later I find myself feeling _just_ like that! Thank you so much for this tutorial, it was the perfect intro to my first glue book! :)
I'm new to collage and your channel and love both! I feel like using a magazine glue book would give me so much freedom to not worry about messing up. Also while watching this I'm thinking "Oh dang now I'm going to hoard magazines now tooo!" lol TFS!
I just watched your video and dug out a magazine and made the glue books. Oh my goodness they are so cute! I just love them. Thanks for the great idea!
AWESOME !! I have been sorting out stuff and have big box of magazines to donate to thrift store BUT now that i see this, i will be getting box out of my car and creating with them !!!! Oh well, so much for trying to declutter 😄
I have never seen books made out of old magazines. What a great way to recycle.
Can't wait to make some of these for the grandkids and do there art in them and give to parents as gift. It will be a nice keepsake.
Love to make artsy glue books...sometimes adding loved ones faces onto a person or animals body. Some pages tell a story, rhyme, prayer or joke. Just found your channel and enjoyed your style and content.

Lucky you to still have those magazines!
I made a little book like you did and I glued both of the magazine halves together it made it real chunky.
Yay!!! Yes, they can get super chunky!! I love a chunky book, they are fun to work in and when you finish them, you feel so accomplished. At least I do!
I put both ppiece
I tapped my halves together. I also made the tall one too
Fantastic idea and one I am going to use! I am a newer follower that’s why I’m watching a year later! I just love your channel so much. Thank you for sharing Nicole 👋🏻
Tfs. This was a totally NEW concept for me, and I've watched tons of tutorials! A repurpose for old magazines!
If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask and have fun :)

For me too. Love love love this idea because I hate throwing out magazines…thank you.x
You are very clever. I'm happy I got to view it.
That was so easy and fast to make one book into two, so I know that it will be a lot of fun creating these glue books, tfs.
In His Grace Lorisa
wow super creative, never seen anyone do that before! Very pretty outcome!
When I made mine I folded the pages like you did but left it long. It made a long narrow book. I love looking through it and it was a really fun project.
Yay!! I usually leave mine long and skinny too, so fun!!
Love that idea!
You could also incorporate junk mail envelopes!
This is super cute 😍 would love to make one of these
Hi Nicole! So happy I found your channel because I think I could really get into junk journaling but I don’t have access to the materials I would need, so your type of book is more feasible for me. TFS.
Enjoyed your tutorial, much easier for me than sewing in sections
Thanks for introducing me to the Glue book idea. A wonderful alternative for adding little scraps and snippets of images, colors and other things that inspire and just simply brighten your day. I've added a Glue book to my list of things to do before the year is finished. Love every piece of paper you added. So lovely!
Thank you! Exactly the question I had; now, answered. Enjoy your content. Blessings 💙
I love this can you please show us how you decorate a page? Can we pop in a few lined pages in case someone wants to use it like a diary ?
We get all these free magazines from local advertisers. Great way to do a cheap hobby. Thanks!!
Hi ! ...I just love this idea so much, am starting work on my 3rd & 4th one. You & Shannon Green are great inspirations!
Thank you SO much Diane!! I adore Shannon Green, she is amazing❤️

You can also binder clip the magazine to the cutting mat- just move magazine to an edge.
Thanks for the great tutorial!!
Thank you so much for this! I'm going through one of those times when my usual journaling is too much. This is so perfect...no harm no foul, just fun!
Exactly just have fun and play....let your mind relax and enjoy the process

I’ve never seen this journal technique before! I love it! Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
Looks great! I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for sharing your ideas. 😊
What a great idea. Instead of just throwing your old magazines in the recycle bin. Thank you Nicole.
Ive made these before but left them long..now that ive seen them cut in half Im obsessed with them again..Ive got a ton of mags and ive been making them all day..Thanks!

What an excellent idea! Thanks to both of you this one is a game changer for me!!
Perfect idea to add to other journals etc🤗🤗🤗
My son and I just started our first glue book thanks to this video. Had never heard of them before! :o)

Totally new idea/concept for me....LOVE IT!
I love my Daphne's Diary. Being in the USA, I now know mine is on the way, and I can't wait. It will be after Easter when I get it, but it's worth it.

Wonderful! Thank you so much for showing us such amazing tips and tricks. Love Love Love your channel.
I had an epiphany while watching and decided to make a STRAWBERRY glued book since there are soooo many images of strawberries lately.
