One of my favorite bands from Poland. The are an excellent example of how a band evolves every year, without compromising.
Luckily I have know about this band since the 90s , if I had discovered them now I would choke at the number of releases to go through.
I haven't heard the later albums (2010 and forward) so much .
Have been listening to the Celtic winter cd on the drive to work all week .killer atmosphere on it and great songs .
Early Graveland is one of the best. Id say anything upto "Memory & Destiny". Graveland was said to be influenced by Mortuary Drape early on, but if you want to know the real influence listen to Emperor's demo "Wrath of the Tyrant", especially the riffs on the songs, "Night of the Graveless Souls" (50 seconds in), "Forgotten Centuries" (20 seconds in), "Witches Sabbath", (the opening riff for "Witches Sabbath" should say everything). And its not just the riffs on "Wrath of the Tyrant" which Graveland used, but also the vocal style of Ihsahn aswell is VERY similar to Darken's during the early period (necromanteion and drunemeton are an entirely different case).
A good point! Never compared it to early Emperor, but I guess you're right!
Hi Mr.Jerry!!! Very true words. I bought this album on the cassette around 95 but have different cover. Also I remember that back in time most people knew very well about Graveland and not so much about Behemoth ( I’m talking about 94’s even up to 2000). Wish you Happy Infernal New Year and keep going with your interviews mate!!!
Thanks for the comment, Emil! Happy new year to you too!
My favorite Graveland release!
Very enjoyable video my man. Happy New Year and Kippis from the U.S!
Thanks! Hny!
Adore Graveland, simply one of the best BM bands IMHO! Happy New Year Rauta!
Hny!
Great release! Happy new year!
Hny!
I'm really happy to own the 1050 years of pagan cult vynil in the wooden box. I recommend that one very much. The celtic winter t-shirt is really beautiful also and the book of all the lyrics sign and many more things such as all the collection. I was told I was the biggest fan of Graveland once. Happy New Year! Thank you for your reviews!
Sounds awesome! Must be a pleasure to own that box. Happy new year!
Celtic Winter is one of my favorite Graveland releases
The celtic winter and especially Carpathian wolves are Graveland‘s best records in my opinion. If you like those records you should grab a copy of Werewolf‘s The temple of fullmoon which is kind of a tribute to this old nineties BM style from Poland.
* Werewolf - But the plastic clean production kills this record unfortunately no atmosphere
All the temple of fullmoon circle bands from that 90s polish scene are amazing
When it strictly comes to black metal Graveland is my all time favourite.
Sadly they only had one successful performance in Canada (the part that I don’t live). I hope to see them one day.
Hey Rauta before the bug have you seen them live?
Yeah, I hope that you get to see them live, too. Deadpool and Graveland fit together.
Yes, I saw them play at Steelfest a few years ago and they were great! I tried to do an interview with them, too, but I was told they declined because they can't speak English well enough. What a shame!
@@RautaMetal damn. I also hope that they would do a gig with other significant Polish black metal bands like Behemoth, Besat, Mgła, Infernal War, Sacrilegium, and Blaze of Peridition. Sadly groups like antifa will try to stop it.
On a side note. Graveland has only given English interviews in written form. They never gave a recorded interview. They can speak just they’re obviously aren’t comfortable speaking in front of audio or camera recording.
@@wadethemercenary.3730 yes, unfortunately so.
Following The Voice Of Blood is my favorite the Mix of the Old Raw and the Pagan Folk sound. Graveland is definetely not for everyones taste i like much of Rob Darkens work.
It is a classic demo for the depressive atmosphere.
Also I think you should give Following The Voice Of Blood another listen. Epic album with great songwriting and fitting production.
I have listened to it multiple times, of course, I have it on cd. It's good but not as good as this one.
@@RautaMetal They are both very different, but both classic albums i think.
@@MrAaronbathory Sure!
Early Graveland are King 👑 and during this period German labels like Darkland records had a great output catalog. Graveland - "The Celtic Winter" were released 2008 via Darkland Records.
Gotta say I don't even know that label.
@@RautaMetal it's active as a very small distro now. No more releasing stuff.
We could call it nearly dead 😉
Oh I see :/
Heil Graveland !
Decent and worth to listening record ,anyway not my top list from Poland.Healthy New Year Jerry !
Hny!
I hope you interview Ad hominem one day it would be interesting to know what they're actually thinking.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for that.
Hi jerry! Can you rewiev finnish black metal band called FORLOR???
Yes if I get a review copy.
Oh shit maybe i send my copy to you....but can you ask Darker Than Black label would they send you a copy? In my opinion it is one of the best new finnish BM bands
@@kairuohomaki7635 I've been told that DTB doesn't sound any copies for review. I was told they don't believe in promotion.
@@RautaMetal yeah i heard it too... I had my copy from the band so i can ask them to send you one if they have any left (sorry my english:) i haven't speak english for 25 years)
@@kairuohomaki7635 It would be great if you would do that! (And your English is fine, don't worry.) Thanks for help!
Awesome 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
Hahaha graveland was supposed to play here in Montreal at the Messes des Morts festival in 2016 and antifa chased them away, a sad thing as I doubt rob will ever play here again.
Sad. Saw them live a few years ago at Steelfest and they were great!
