I live in a small city in New Jersey right near Manhattan so… just to help you envision it… it’s pretty much a tightly packed street and my apartment is a little walk-up between two very popular Irish bars… I have a tiny garden out front that no used to be dirt and weeds so I’ve taken over that space and I fill it with all sorts of fun plants and flowers in the summertime… I even bring out some of my indoor plants and pop them in the garden or along some of the shelves I’ve put in front for a few hours here and there, and the garden/plants get tons of compliments all the time… people are always taking pictures too haha.. One day, one of my kinda special-to-me plants went missing, and I was quite upset so I put a passive-aggressive… (OK it was just directly aggressive)… sign out front about it and EVERYONE read it and they were more upset about it than I was! Due to this, one night at 1 o’clock in the morning, someone had climbed over the wrought iron gate into my garden with a bag and was trying to steal plants… not smart to do while the regular bar patrons and employees were out front! The bouncers, bartenders, and regular patrons of the bars, (who were well aware of me, my garden, and the stolen plant…) DETAINED this guy and called the police on him… 😂 I thought it was absolutely hilarious and I had made a comment, “there are worse things in life… It’s only a plant… I’ll grow another one…” And one of the big bouncer guys was just so fired up, and he said, “no! It’s not OK! You do a really nice thing for our street and you make everything look really nice for everybody to enjoy… You work hard, and we all appreciate it ..and it’s not right to have somebody steal from you!”
As someone who works closes with apple devices , I’m still genuinely confused how they got his location because AirTags do NOT show live location . Even if there is another apple device nearby it needs permission to access that devices network . Something is fishy about this story but none the less stealing plants is a ridiculous petty crime 😅
My boss who use these told me. it will use that apple device that's close to it will send a notification to the register of the air tag , so guess that the thief or someone close to him had iPhone or product.

What I'd like to know is how can you use an airtag in an already potted plant? I'm sure it can't get wet. We had two plants stolen and I'm thinking of trying this.
We are going through hard times right now but stealing nursery items would seem to be the last thing on a person's list I would think. It's not that you need shrubs, trees and planters in your yard. He wanted instant gratification and it being free at that. It would have been a bit different if he did this and sold it to feed his family or help pay his rent there......wow! This is horrible.....lock him up!

i work at a family owned greenhouse/florist and we had a landscaper company who was our customer come and steal plants and dumbass forgot abt cameras and he got in huge trouble for it

The funny thing is that if an airtag is moving in the car with you, any iphone in the car with you will warn you. This is to prevent people getting tracked unbeknownst to them. So I imagine while he was driving it was alerting him. That is, if he owned an iphone and had it with him.
This is hilarious. His yard is like a beautiful advertisement for their products. It was also free advertisement in the form of news. Not like that’s not normal. Also AirTags are weird but I use them to track my kids and stroller, etc. I don’t know whose apples products they end up linking with…but I always have a location when they’re away from me.

Hi! I had a question about one of my plants and I didn’t know who else to turn to. I recently had to give my pilea peperomioides the big chop. The cutting is doing really well, but the top of the stem of the original plant is rotting. The stem normally has a bark-like exterior and is green inside, but I could feel it was mushy and black, so I cut a part of the top off again until I hit an all-green interior. I’ve noticed that it began rotting from the top down again. What should I do?
It sounds overwatered? Make sure the soil can dry out easily as it likely has little to no chlorophyll on the leftover stalk to drink up that water in the soil
Hiya, same thing happened to mine. It seems, now thinking about it, that it died back to the last viable node on the stem. Hope this helps. And definitely dry between watering and bottom watering seems better for them
