Even if bond yields are increasing while stock prices are decreasing, the markets are still skeptical whether the Federal Reserve will stick to its goal to raise interest rates until inflation is under control. While I'm still debating whether to sell my $401k worth of equities, what is the best way to profit from the present down market?
I advise you to seek professional advice because building a strong financial portfolio is more challenging. Your long-term objectives and budgetary preferences can be catered to in the ideas you get after that.
The best market strategy at the moment is working with a respected investment coach. I've been in touch with a coach for a time now, mostly because I lack the depth of understanding and mental toughness to deal with these ongoing market conditions. During this recession, I made about $700k, proving that the market is more complicated than most people think.

that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+
Understanding how Bonds work is important because it's the baseline interest rate you will compare against when quantifying opportunity costs and internal rates of returns, I really wish i know, just where to start from, because i really want to start investing, but just don't know how to start.
I'm approaching retirement and having a financial advisor has been helpful. I started investing later than most, so relying on compound interest from Etf's or bonds alone wasn’t enough for me. Despite that, I’ve managed to do well and am on track to retire with around $2 million

This is one of the best overall introductions that I've seen about bond markets. I teach corporate finance at a law school and recommend the video to my students. Good job.
I remember my econ teacher teaching purely off youtube and it was the best class ever learning way more than any book any other videos you would recommend?
So what's the most effective strategy during this period of volatility with the rate cut? Most of my portfolio is in (20% Index funds, 20% CD's 30% Bonds/T-bills and other assets) I want to explore different strategies to benefit from a potential bubble.
Opting for an inves-tment advisr is currently the optimal approach for navigating the stock market, particularly for those nearing retirement. I've been consulting with a coach for a while, and my portfolio has surged by 85% since 2023
Every crash/collapse brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid economy crisis, and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Unequivocally, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich.
Thank you so much for this video but in these uncertain times it is more important than ever to have a solid understanding of how the government are still in charge of our wealth and manage your finances, invest wisely and navigate economic downturns. But my primary concern is how to grow my reserve of $240k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains, sure I'm all in on the long term game, but with my savings are lying waste to inflation and my portfolio losing gains everyday, I need a remedy.
If you need advice, consider speaking with a financial advisor. Don't get me wrong, you can do it on your own, but financial advisors have a lot more knowledge and expertise in this area.
you are completely right, Advisors have information and paths that are not disclosed to the public.. I profited £560k in 2022 under the tutelage of my Fiduciary-counselor. Am I selling? Absolutely not.. I am going to sit back and observe how this all plays out.
This is such valuable information presented in a really comprehensible way. College courses that cost thousands don't provide as much insight as these videos do. Thanks Nate for making these really helpful and informative videos.
Nathan, you ever get tired of doing YT videos, go into economic teaching, PLEASE. I learned more in 1st 5 mins. than I ever did in school. Brother, SO GLAD I stumbled across your channel. Promote whenever I can. TY for being a money vessel to the late starters, and the seekers of money.
Great Bond Tutorial! very informative. Totally disagree on your take on the fed but loved the bond content. I upped my BondIQ significantly. I watched the entire video thing! Good Job!
Finally got around to watching this after having it on my list for a while. Really good information. I learned a few things, but it was also helpful for reminding myself just how much I've learned through personal research over the last year. I knew nothing about bonds up until very recently. I'm sure the video lenghth and topic limits how popular the video is, but I wish more people could watch this. As someone else in the comments said, this video in 54 minutes summarized information that some college courses would take weeks and thounds of dollars to teach someone.

Love your videos. Always very precise and easy to understand. Also, best line was "and we have a flat yield.....which you don't really see that on curves" LOL!!
This is incredibly well done, before I watched I knew nothing about bonds besides them being issued by governments/corporations. Now I feel as though I understand every basic aspect of bonds. Thanks Nate. Good work young man.
This video was excellent. I have been piecing together information for a long time. The comprehensive beginner's course is a fantastic way to get a bird's eye view into the bonds market. Thank you.

37:42, are you confused about saying interest rates have fallen? Are you talking about the fed funds rate, I thought that has been increased in the past 3-4 months.
10 months later, I'm interested in how Nate views his rant at 45:01 with the CPI down to 3.14% and possible rate cuts on the horizon. He expresses a lot of certainty during a very uncertain moment in the economy.
If I'm an investor in today's market looking for fixed yield why would I ever consider the 10 year at 3.55% vs the 2 year at 4.18%? Why would anyone? Worse case scenario, I keep the bond and get 4.18% on my money
Thanks for the video Nate although this was long i loved how i learnt not only just bonds but how central banks, inflation, interest rates and pretty much more things interconnect with bonds.
Can you please explain what it means to go short or long on a 20 year bond? I feel this is probably a critical decision for the investment approach but it's meaning eludes me.
This was an excellent video as a starter pack for bonds. I invest heavily into stocks but do not know much about bonds other than the fact my retirement account holds some. Thanks for the education!
