The comedy in this is actually incredible. I feel like people don't combine horror and comedy as much or as well as they should. Jokes can be so much more effective when you're expecting a scare, and some scares can be really striking when you were only expecting jokes.
My theory is that the "harvey placeholder X sprite thing" are representations of the dreemurrs. This entry seems random and unrelated, but if you look at the dialogue as a metaphor/analogy to kris and the dreemurrs, it makes sense. The first one talks about their brother ('stop telling people im your brother'?), and the third & fourth could represent kris, like the part that feels connected to them and the part that feels seperated (mirror dialogue mayb). I thought of it because of 18_bedroom, but in most of the places the X sprite is, it could be a dreemurr. The main one that sticks out to me is the bunny becoming the X in 16_Roaring-town, but squinting at the dialogue, it could be something kris overheard asriel say while they were avoiding them.
0:28 I know characters being aware is a reasonable thing to assume in an arg like this but it's still nice to know that kris being aware is a possibility
