Best version of "Black To Comm" I've heard! Just total energy! Have watched it about 20 times already, it sends shivers down my spine every time. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Taped by Jack Henry Moore (RIP). Master reels recovered and transferred by me in West Ealing, UK. Master transfer later sold to Wayne and Margaret Saadi Kramer. Unfortunately a screening copy leaked out and people who I do not know have posted it.
The video feed was recorded direct to a shellac 78 by Alan Lomax using a carrot needle. The audio was captured and synched from a Dictaphone in the office building across the street. Available September 2017, only on RCA Capacitance Electronic Discs. Soundtrack available on 8-Track.
Any loud, fast song from the 60s can be considered the ever-cliched "first punk song"...There were numerous garage bands from the mid 60s that fit that description...not to mention Frank Zappa and The Mothers's "Hungry Freaks Daddy", and The Who's "My Generation", Dylan's "Outlaw Blues", etc
Merci !
The humans that pushed Dislike on something this rare, does not count. When did they split into the MC2 (Fred/Kramer only), tour Finland and then, by late late -72 become a thing of the history book of Rock and Roll? Thank You For sharing, I will film this potatoe with my phone even to have it saved forever.
MC2 was November/December '72. The whole MC5 played one last show on NYE (12.31.72) to about 150/200 people at The Grande. Kramer said he only played about half the show and left cause he was already paid, so he went and copped some dope.
In their hay day there wasnt anything like the riot that was an MC5 show. And this isnt their hay day. If you get the chance to look at an online video of their concert at Wayne State University it is pretty decent MC5 rockin stufff.
Amen to that!!! They were already running out of gas here in Paris. That WSU Tartar Field video isn't bad for someone who never witnessed the MC5. But there is... 'NOTHING ANYWHERE' that captures the True essence and Vibe of the 68' thru late 1970 years! You just had to be there!!! Cya'.
Balls out off the charts spegetti sticks to the wall cheese dripping goo globs that was lip smakin toe crackin back breakin soul takin leg smashin fantarific!
I swear I watched an old promotional documentary ca. 1969 or so, here on RUclips...it seems like there was footage of them playing in a field someplace...I know it was outdoors...but I've been unable to find it ever since! I remember it featured the infamous VW bus with MC5 painted on the side ...
une heure après le concert du Gubus, direction overs /oise au chateau d'hérouville, pour bernard Le noir pour lemission tv,,trois morceaux, et hop son repartie dans la nuit comby wwaguin. genial,
Sorry I took so long. I found this in Amsterdam among a huge pile of tapes that were being stored in a basement by Jack Henry Moore (RIP). I transferred the 1/2" CV-2000 Sony reels in West Ealing at a facility that was equipped with a machine that read the video from the tape head digitally rather than resorting to an optical transfer. They were the only place in the world pretty much with a setup like that. I later sold the master transfer to Wayne and Margaret. Along the way, a screener I made leaked out and here it is posted by this person I do not know. Now you know the history of this footage. Whoever says anything else is lying.

you'd be as old as those folks now, enjoy what we have in the can , make peace and God's care sir
Thank you to the great soul who recorded this

@@richpatz4807 You mean there's more that hasn't been leaked???? I would pay good money to see more MC5 stuff.
What was it recorded on? A VCK-2000?
Fred "sonic" smith is wearing his superhero costume.
Haha, yes. Flash Gordon's got nothing on Fred.
i played there many times but didn't know that ! and it's 10 subway stops from home. cheers loren
just awesome. so incredibly punk rock.

I would give anything to have been there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MC5 à Paris !, mais j'était trop petit...
Snif...
Kickin out the jams in 72. Nice footage! Where under what crusty old leather jacket did you find this?
This was probably recorded on one of Sony reel to reel video recorders of the day.
Sony U-Scan, I believe.
Thank you for this!
Black to Comm, might be THEE first punk song that led to the Stooges and the mid-seventies punk sound, as it was written by the MC5 in 1966/67 . . .
noup, i think the first punk song could be Demolicion, from 1964, by the peruvian garage punk rock " Los Saicos". Check it.

wow. good stuff
There is a great movie to be made out of this band's short career. The documentary was nice but what I want is a scripted movie.

They were running out of gas by this point. Their shows from about 68” to 70” were incredible.
Very cool...
still awesome....but damn. 2 years earlier they were playing for 20,000 people...not at the club down the way
Please tell me theres more unseen footage out there!
+Onlylettuce92 Of course there is, otherwise, you would have seen it.

@@kaymullins228 there used to be SOOOO much more shit on here...😑
Thanks for posting this. It's great. Fuck those idiots making shrewd comments. It's the MC5. Show some respect.
O primeira banda punk na minha opinião apesar dos solos. Maravilhoso essa banda
Stop with the first this or ahead of that talk , time was then not now stop the comparison crap
OMFG drug fueled rock and roll. Don't get no rock'n'r than this. MC5 rule.
They had gotten pretty tight - right before the end. What a shame, man. I listen to High Time and just wonder what might have come
