As someone who actually flies the real thing I can tell you that the autopilot will beat the humans almost every single time. The 777 has an amazing ability to land in crosswind conditions.
The only time when it is always best to have a human land is when the RWY is contaminated with water or snow. You want a positive landing then, not a smooth one.

Everyone I know will do manual landings. However, pilots need to do a certain amount of autolands to keep current, so once in a while autoland is used. If course if visibility is low autoland is used as well.

Biji Kampret You can as long as the crosswind component is within autoland limits. However, to be honest autoland is really there for low vis situations. That's when it really comes in handy. Crosswind landings are not always easy but pilots are expected to be able to hand fly such an approach.
Thanks for the info, Capt. Never knew Autopilot can land a plane as well. I thought it is only activated while in the air during flight and is deactivated before landing.

The last part of the video is extremely flawed.
When you were landing you were using a GPS approach instead of an ILS approach
A GPS system doesn't account for terrain
It only maintains the 3° angle of approach
The ILS on the other hand DOES account for terrain elevations

Nope/yes. This simulator only uses ILS. In reallife it's not even possible to build in ils in an approach with terrain.
Swiss001 This isn’t true, ILS systems are highlighted in red in infinite flight I believe, and others are GPS.
GPS approaches do account for terrain though... RNAV and RNP approaches are GPS and RNP is widely used for approaches (and departures) where there's mountainous terrain all surrounding the airport (e.g Queenstown NZQN). Ils would never work at an airport like this, also RNP comes in handy for busy airports minimising the overall approach time. Pretty sick if I'm honest
The terrain part is 100% flawed. Google RNAV-approach and you’ll find hundreds of approaches that even transition into an ILS in the end. That way an autopilot actually will end flying that last part really smooth.

Depending on the type of aircraft you are flying, the limits of the Auto-Landing system is laid down in the Flight Manual indicating the maximum allowable crosswind component and other restrictions. It is not fare to put the plane beyond its limit & expect the same result.
For the last comparison (terrain mountain) , every airfield has its own departure & arrival route to follow & these routes are designed in such way to ensure obstacle clearence. Auto-landing isn’t simply about intercpting the glide scope & start descending.
In other words, it is the human in the cockpit (or infront of his computer making this video) do not know how to use such advance technology.

I flew B-757 and B-767 for close to twenty years. The Autoland capability of both aircraft were spot on. I routinely did autolands with up to the max demonstrated crosswind component of 19 knots with NO PROBLEM - landing on runway centerline (+/- two feet). Not sure what crosswind you plugged in to your simulation, but it should NOT have landed off the runway.

autopilot works very well on cruising, but I think for landing it is quite impossible to land properly since the pilot has to deal with windshear, turbulence, speed of wind and etc...
I prefer human landing because you can control the smoothness of your landing, but you can't with autoland. Autoland is useful if the pilot or pilots suddenly becomes incapacitated by a heart attack or hypoxia.

Autoland is a feature of tuning to ILS frequencies and following a localizer, along with the CMD (737 at the least) flying the aircraft with or without A/T. It's not just done automatically.
This requires training, and many experts are doing surveys on whether a passenger can fly a plane- I forgot to mention this.

Of course the autopilot has still got to be controlled by humans, but there has been real cases of a pilot being incapacitated in mid-flights and a passenger landing the plane with the first officer. You really have to have knowledge on the plane's systems in order to operate the autoland function of the autopilot.
Humans may have been better but like considering this is a simulator and not the real deal. Now that I think about it autopilot would be much better if this was how it is in IRL... Because landing a real plane is 100x harder than in a flight simulation.

In CONCLUSION: The Autopilot can pretty much fly the plane. What the Autopilot is missing is the information. That is why the autopilot is nothing without the actual pilot and the info he puts in it e.g. Heading, Altitude/Vertical Speed/Level Change(dunno if that is the right name) and many more.
On infinite flight, my autopilot sometimes just says "you know what... fuck this" and immediately puts the plane into stall 😂

Actually do you guys know that the autopilot system was developed for some bad meteorological situations?
such as foggy! the autopilot system will only follow the details of the flight which have already been set into the FMS
but the manufacturer didn't design the autopilot system has to have collision avoiding function.
Sometimes the pilots have to decide that whether need to use it, If the situation is under controlling, the pilots can land the aircraft manually. You should know that the autopilot system isn't universal!

The smoothness of the autoland depends on the angle and -vs so if you want the best results with autoland then set the vs to 500-1300 beforehand then when you get to altitude of 100 (100 feet above airport alitude) then change to -200 OR -100 depends on how close the runway is.
BONUS*
Put the gear out 5.5 NM from the airport. DO NOT USE DISTANCE TO DESTINATION actually look at the airport name and see how much farther if that setting is on.
