I didn't see anyone pointing it out so I'm gonna. Matthias screaming "LEPER!" after calling out Jesus' name makes me realize that he's using his leprosy to make the people let him through the crowd. He's risking it all here. He's risking getting stoned to death. He's risking never seeing Ashra and his son again. The amount of faith he has to throw it all away to just approach Jesus and be cleansed. He doesn't believe he's worthy, but he still does it. He does it because it's the only option left. It's out of desperation. It's out of faith. It's out of pure humilty that only this man, holy and whole, can save him from that life. And the risk was worth it.
When he starts singing the string "I Am willing be cleansed" I immediately imagined Jesus reassuring me with those words. And then when he sings the high notes I imagine Him on the cross looking at me and assuring me that I am clean.
This is the song I saw a clip of in a reel on IG that popped up on my feed. It gave me chills! I ordered the book and finished it in 5 days. Now seeing this video, when he shouts, “Leper!” Oh my goodness. Heart wrenching!It’s another layer of bringing the story to life. This whole story was so powerful, I am now going through listening to all the songs. Amazing, amazing story.❤
When listening to the song I couldn’t appreciate that when Jesus is singing “ I AM willing be cleansed” he isn’t just saying he is cleansing Matthias. He is using I AM as in I AM THAT I AM, he is using the name God used when speaking to Moses through the burning bush. Beautiful!
