- WELCOME TO #LANMAS DAY 13!! Listen, I love me a good sparkling makeup find or a stylish classy gal fashion buy, but SOMETIMES we need to scale it back and discuss the products that we DO NOT NEED. Happy #deinfluencing day and please let me know if there are any products or categories that YOU are no longer using or buying! Love you all and thanks for watching XO

I am no longer buying bronzers/blushes/highlights until I FINISH the ones I already have! Wish me luck y’all 😅
Makeup products in general 😆
May the force be with you! 😂❤
Yes I have 4 blushes and I really should them up, but it’s hard because it seems newly improved products are constantly being targeted at us
Same here, good luck! 😊
Amen!
Lmao did anyone read the description? I need Allana to be mean to us more often: "Lip I'm wearing: not important you probably have 37 in your bag rn." Genuinely took me by surprise and made water come out my nose giggling.
I’ve been on a no buy for over a year, I’ve only replaced mascara. That includes body and hair care. I’ve got so many things that need to be used up and clutter gives me anxiety, as does buying things I don’t need. I have enough blush to last till I die I think! So I have a list of things I want to replace things with when I’m done. Simplifying my skin care too as it’s easy to end up with endless serums. Love this message!
I'm going to try the no buy that's a great idea! Especially for the planet and the wallet. For me another form of deinfluencing is honestly every influencer doing a Lilysilk haul a couple times a year makes it seem like a cult or a scam 😂
Thats so me. I wear sooo little make up but I have four blushes - two of them are rare beauty. So why buying more? Same with skincare. My skin loves a simple routine. I made a picture of ALL my skincare as a reminder when I wanna buy something new - do you really need that? Dont you have enough? 😂
💯 Yesss I could have written this post. I also restricted my clothes buying due to anxiety about deciding what to wear. Steve Jobs also went through this, and why he wore the same thing all the time. Spending less time making decisions on a daily basis has helped my anxiety tremendously.
@@ankeranname too
I'm doing a replacement only no buy in 2024 so I'm loving this video!!!!
I really like this idea❤! I was wanting to try a similar thing!
I stopped letting influencers influence me! Waisted way too much money … I only buy what I truly need now a days, never been happier!
Yes! im going to declutter my influencers and subsubribe from all the constant "haulers" that tempt me with everything!
I need to do this😊
I decluttered my make up and hair products to those I only ACTUALLY use and like, and keep the list of product brand/names/colors on my phone, so that when I go in places like Ulta or Sephora I can refer to it and get ONLY those items I KNOW I use and not get side tracked by 'shiny sparkly oh i saw so and so use this' things...... its helped me stay on track a LOT! I also only go in if I am out, or almost out of something and stick to my list!
Same! Excess consumption has actually driven me to not want to buy anything anymore. Such as waste of valuable resources and money.
I’m trying to narrow down my products on 2024 too so de-influencing is exactly the vibes I need to hear.
Honestly we all need a little de influencing every now and then 😅❤
I so agree!
I don’t need “de-influence.” I don’t buy makeup/toiletries unless I run out. 🙃 I don’t waste money or storage for clutter. ✨Quality over quantity✨ has changed my life (this also applies to clothing & shoes!)
What a great video! I have not purchased any makeup for the past few years... trying to finish what I have and only buying what I truly need for skincare. Then I tried counting all the lipsticks/eyeshadows/blushes that I have and calculated how much the entire collection cost me. It was depressing! Wasted money! I could have re-decorated my living room including new furniture!
Save your money everyone! Thank you again for the great video! 💖💖💖💖
💯% agree. I have so many products that I will never finish. This proves how susceptible we are to marketing.❤
I saw the hourglass palette on this video and came just to say that ya'll need that. You can use it to do an entire face, the formula is absolutely stunning and as a person who has over 30 blushes I find myself continously going back to it every time. Plus it will literally last you for your mortuary beat 100/10
this whole week I have been decluttering everything I owe. I’m so overwhelmed with everything and am finding none of it is providing me any happiness so why stress about it!! Loved this video so much
The amount of times I've stressed and felt anxious over allll the shit I have bought-well it's probably every other day...yet I'll buy more! Its so not worth the momentary entertainment/dopamine hit!
Hi, a cool idea for decluttering - take a picture of all the things you decluttered and keep them in your phone. Next time you feel like just buying whatever they can help to prevent from buying excessive things. I mostly have pics of skincare and old makeup I got rid of, I also have a pic of assortment of things I do use and love, my basics and staples. This gallery helps me to stop impulsive shopping . Hope someone finds this tip helpful :)
i agree with dry shampoo so much!! it doesn’t work for finer hair at all, because it’s just ANOTHER product to build up in your hair after it’s already greasy
I disagree on this one - I have extremely fine hair (just a lot of it), and dry hair shampoo works really well for me. I wash my hair once a week/week and a half, and one application of dry hair shampoo lets me extend for another half a week.
Its so refreshing to see a video like this one IN DECEMBER! OMG, all the platforms are just full of gift guides and buy buy buy...so, thank you! It also gives perspective because we are def not all MUAs and we dont need 100 palettes! I think during the pandemic we bought so many things that now its very satisfying to go back to basics and simplify our routines ❤❤ with that being said: I do need the Ethereal Eyes 😂😂😂
Try lume it different
I can honestly say I felt this way in my early 30s and stopped wasting money on ALL of these . I’m 43 and do not buy any of these things! I think it’s good you see this now ! I did and it makes buying the stuff you know that you will use so much more fun ! And yes natural deodorant does not work. I agree on the entire video girly ❤
The streamlining of skincare is REAL. My goodness, limiting myself to two moisturizing products has done absolute wonders for my skin. I can actually tell what it needs and when since there are no longer so many products working against each other and upsetting the balance of my skin barrier!
I really appreciate this video! We as consumers feel so much pressure to always buy buy buy. It’s really nice to scale back and just enjoy what you have.
Thank you so much for this video. People today are so brainwashed into believing that they need all the skincare and makeup and devices that are promoted out there. Thank you for realizing and having the foresight to let your followers know that it’s not all necessary. Lip scrubs for example. A washcloth or toothbrush works just as well and is a lot more economical. I applaud 👏🏼 you.
I never thought I'd see the day when Lan deinfluences self tanner but YAY it has FINALLY happened!

Doing the lords work with these timestamps!!! 😅😅🙏🏻🙏🏻
i'm guilty of having too many limited editions, eyeshadow palettes, brown eyeliners, and lipsticks 😅 i have 20 new lipsticks so far in addition of more of my existing ones...
I’m 68 and I was shocked to see all the products you young people use on your face. We basically used Ponds Cold Cream for everything; moisturizer and remove makeup, Revlon everything, Maybelline mascara or Cover Girl eye shadows. And all these makeup brushes and sponges, we used our fingers. I stopped trying different products too and I’m happier (so is my wallet), and my bathroom is not cluttered anymore with products I no longer use. I found a good neck cream, moisturizer and under eye cream I like. The end and amen.
I am 58 and I have always done the same. I started using foundation when I became 55 just to even me skin.
This year I’ve been really conscious of using up a lipstick (or 3) before buying a new one - I’ve gone from 43 down to 15! I’m trying to get myself down to 5-7 core ones.
My FAVORITE trend, love that you shared this!! I saw an article recently saying that women make up 80% of consumer spending (this may just be in the US?) and it made me feel kind of manipulated and taken advantage of AND made me aware of the massive environmental impact women may have because of our consumption and spending!! So I’m trying to cut back my own consumption, definitely with beauty products ( like skincare, I don’t need a 7 step routine, and also with dry shampoo!)
Loved this video! I’ve gotten rid of hydrating primers and dry shampoo as well. I’m now only buying travel-sized mascara too. I feel like by the time they go clumpy or passed their used by date, I’ve still got half left. So now I’m just buying better quality mascara in the travel-sizes so I can try more and I’m not using off mascara.
I like your mascara thoughts! I also feel like like I have too many full-sized on the go and/or they expire before I get to the bottom. Although, I kinda like when they are half-dry, I feel like they apply better. @samantharavndahl can attest to this, lol
I started adding a couple drops of single use eye drops into my mascaras that dry out too quickly. Been working like a charm!
I'm no longer buying or wearing foundation😅I realized no matter what product, and what method I use to apply, it always wears off on my nose! Now I just stick to tinted sunscreen and concealer for spots, and it works wonderfully!
I stopped wearing foundation in 2019 and haven't looked back - and my skin breaks out much less without it too!
have you tried powder first then foundation?
It is so true. We don’t need so much stuff! I realized that it is so much healthier when you let cosmetic products come and go instead of pile up tons of them.
For me, the only "eye primer" I'll ever use is MAC Painterly Paint Pot, I loooove that product so much.
Same here! I use it for decades now!
Agreed. Great stuff.
A breath of fresh air. I love your sensibility and wisdom. We are up to our eyeballs in consumerism. We can only wear/use so much products on a daily. If a skincare routine is working, or even your tanning routine, why do we change it 🤷♀️. How many mascaras can we even have, they dry up.
I don't usually comment on videos, but Allana, I NEED A VIDEO ON THIS MAKEUP LOOK! I can't stop staring, honestly, it is beautiful on another level.
Attempting to downsize my makeup collection right now, and this was so helpful. All of your reasoning makes so much sense!
Omg I really needed to hear this today, thank you! It’s so easy to get caught up in the hype and buy things we really don’t need ❤️❤️
Im loving the neutral background and lighting. Your skin looks flawless and it’s soooo pleasant to look at 😅👏🏽✨
Awesome video! I need to hit the no buy hard in January. I. Don’t. Need. Any. Makeup. Thank you, Lan!
I use my sunscreen as glowy or hydrating primer and it’s saved me so much money!
Love this video, it makes so much sense. It’s easy to get caught up in the advertising of these products. Less is always more!
Love this concept! Please do it for another categories too: unnecessary household items, clothing, etc
I find these videos SO refreshing!!! We need more of this. And like you said, this sort of message comes at a good time when we’re all being bombarded with marketing and consumption. Appreciate you being utterly honest and transparent. I’m inspired to think about what I no longer need to buy ❤
So refreshing to hear someone like you say the things that I've been thinking for a long time! Deinfluencing is sometimes necessary.Couldn't agree more with everything you said!Love your vibe!😍
This is LITERALLY my agenda from here on out, NYE resolution and beyond... stop worrying about the latest drop and focus on using all the things I've got in piles... perfect "not gonna buy this stuff anymore" video to get the year started with the right attitude Allana!🙏❤🌺
Agree a thousand percent with all of these, especially the natural deodorant. I’m so tired of trying to make that work when it just doesn’t. Between this and HGW, feels like a new era for you and I’m here for it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
i love the mood you were in while talking about all this! felt like a gentle scolding from a good friend, to remind me that less can be more!!
Recently started using eye primers and now I can never go back. My eyelids are super oily but with the fenty eye primer my eyeshadows stays on all day 😍
This is such a great topic to discuss! I’ve always been very simple & get easily overwhelmed with the pressure to buy new, especially because I know what works for me and I often feel like buying new products ends up being a waste of money!
2:09 "It might be someone's first time purchasing their first beauty product ever!" True. I never used makeup until I had chemotherapy and radiation. My eyebrows vanished and I learned how to redraw them. As a brunette, I'd never before had to do anything to my brows except pluck them. Since then I learned lots about how to apply makeup from RUclips MUAs. Thank you to all of them.
Totally agree !! Trying to finish a product before I get a new one, because you realistically don’t need thattt many things
Allana’s description is just as entertaining as her video. Always read description box 😀 Fabulous!!!
Love and appreciate this content from you Allana it’s a good reminder that we don’t constantly need to be buying new things!
I heard every word you said but also on the background I couldn't stop thinking "Gosh, you are so beautiful!". Thank you for this content, it is very refreshing to look at our collection and assess in a healthy way "Do I really need all that?". I'd be curious to try living without an eyeshadow primer, haven't given this one a try yet! :D What I noticed for myself as a redundant category - setting sprays. I have somewhat oily skin and I thought it's a must for me, but then I noticed (I don't pack too much when travelling) that my skin oils just as fast with or without and a simple powder touch-up fixes the issue during the day. I only keep a small bottle to wet sparkly eyeshadows if I want to use them as a liner, but won't be re-filling.
This is her most clever video, I really love her honesty ❤
LOVED this video! Such a refreshing take, especially after Black Friday and it’s similar counterparts 😅
Thanks for bringing a smile to our faces and reminding us that we actually don’t “need” so many things :)
I loved this video so much and agree with everything (well the dry shampoo one is hard but I could probably benefit from using that less). I found myself cracking up so much while watching this because it’s like you read my mind on so many of these products (especially the natural deodorant 😂)!
As someone with dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin I keep a simple and consistent skincare routine. I stopped using fragranced bath products and lotions years ago. It is so tempting to splurge on something new, but chances are we already have it.
I love this video...as a busy mom, I have no time for a lot of products. I am down to 3 or 4 products, after skin care, then I am done! I have decluttered to much this past year and have 1 make up bag with all I need. Great video Allana!!
I am 100% here for this. I'm going on a beaty no buy for January at least. I've found my ride or die products and I'm sticking to 'em!
Thank you so much for this Allana💗 made me stop and think, I honestly need to use up what I have and stop buying products I hardly use .. for me its eye/face palettes in general/ moisturizers and primers
OMG this was such a needed video. I couldn't agree with you more. The over consumption & waste must stop. I am not buying makeup in 2024 UNTIL I run out of what I have, pray for me❤😂
Perfect. Allllll that money, alllll those products sitting on skin trying to breath. Not a minimalist at all but less is SO much easier, less time consuming & less expensive. Less = MORE happiness, space, money, time & better natural skin. This is great.
I’m planning on doing a no buy/low buy next year so this was helpful to get some ideas about things to include!! I 100% agree about the lip exfoliant… bought a little thing pre-wedding and honestly it has not done anything more than light scrubbing with a washcloth would have. It’s so nice to have a less cluttered bathroom cabinet and simplified routine!
Agree 100%. This was great. Gasped when you said you were no longer going to buy skin tanning products but recovered when you followed up with using the product that works for you. That basically was the theme of this video and a good lesson to continue sharing. The over consumption is exhausting. Keep staying true Allanarama.
Love, love, love this video. Very refreshing take on over consumption with beauty products. I haven’t bought new eyeshadow/ blush/ bronzer etc for over a year since I realised I don’t actually wear it. Gave my Nars and hourglass palettes to my sister. Only thing I regular buy is mascara and skincare when I run out, no more hoarding products.
Yesss such a great message for all of us. There is no point in spending money in things that truly do not work for us anymore. I have enough eyeshadows for the rest of my life I think. And I have been only buying new products when what I have at home is empty :)
It happened to me during the transition between summer and fall, somehow something switched in me and I threw out many things that I would only keep because I bought them (but rarely used and ultimately expired🤷🏻♀️). Felt a little like shedding old skin, really refreshing. Also just like Lan said, most of us have probably by now gained a sense of what they need and want and THAT makes it so much easier to shop or not to!
Definitely paring down my routine and it’s actually given me so much peace to have less stuff
Lmfao, Allana you make my day with your expressions, candor and overall joyfulness. I definitely appreciate a good de-influencing video, especially this time of year when everything seems "shiny and new" and the world of consumerism and consumption is at an all time high. Simplifying our lives is such an understated key to living a happy life. Thanks for the share. (I'll always be an eyeshadow pallet girly though) haha. I DO love PROJECT PAN, and definitely try this prior to overconsumption
Loved this video so much. I stopped buying things including clothes 2 years ago, when I realised I’m becoming a hoarder. Now am at a point that I don’t even enter every giveaway. To be honest seeing minimal things in cupboards is such a stress buster! 😊
Yes! I’m constantly decluttering makeup and giving to family because I literally have so much that will not end up getting used. I’ve been definitely on a “project pan” lately. Anything I’m almost out of I’ve put into one makeup bag and I will use those products until they are DONE. Then add more as I go along.
This was a much much MUCH NEEDED video… thanks Allana!! ❤
Taking a step back is such a good approach. I used to collect blushes, now I only have one and I‘m so proud of myself
This is good! So many unnecessary products. Here's my parallel thoughts:
Eyeshadow primers: nope, no point
Hydrating primers: OKAY, I recently got the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, thanks to your influence -no, don't be ashamed of that term! I genuinely appreciate the influence of a fellow dry-skinned girlie! Anyways, it's changed my winter skin life. It's the perfect night cream, eye cream, primer, makeup remover, hand cream and everything in between. I did NOT take this recommendation seriously (because I mean, products from Shoppers...meh) BUT, this is it!
Face and cheek palates: Agreed, EXCEPT for the Hourglass one specifically. It's my daily makeup wear. I've almost hit pan in the bronzer in last year's and slept on this year's (snake) palate and regret it very much. Hoping I can find it at Ulta in Florida when I'm there next week.
Lip exfoliators: I've taken Tati's recommendation and am using a little silicone scrub. Works great!
Dry Shampoo: it's gross. Re: your hair video -just wash and dry more regularly. Spritzing micellar water and drying inbetween works as an alternative
As always, love the Canadian content! ♥
I love this video and your reasoning so much! Last year I decided to no longer purchase any new makeup or skincare unless I’d used up everything in a certain category. And honestly I’ve only broken the rule once while I was abroad. The result? I enjoy the products I have so much more! No longer constantly looking for the next best thing has put all my focus on the stuff I own and use. No regrets so far 😁
I used to have fomo for face palettes but quickly realized how many products I never used. Love seeing someone talk about unnecessary products. Also the lighting on this vid is incredible.
This resonates with me soo much! Super inspiring video Allana❤️
Ive been done with setting spray, concealer, eyeshadow and primers for a while now and I really enjoy letting my skin breathe and I love that the “natural” makeup look has been popular cause it’s just much more comfortable and manageable for me and I’m okay with not looking perfected anymore 😅 minimizing skincare has also been a game changer too
Ahh I love this! I totally agree certain products just aren’t needed.
Girl. I agree with ALL of these! We are def on the same wavelength in life currently…maybe cuz I also just turned 30 lol. Love your content ❤
Allana, I have been watching you since you were in college. Not sure what happened but I lost touch with your videos. I’m so happy to see your sweet personality and candor has not changed. Happy to be back to your channel and catch up on your more recent content. Cheers to all you have accomplished over the years 🥂♥️
Agree with you on eye primers. One exception is for glitter or shimmer shadows and the best is Mac prep and prime 24 hr eye extend. It works for my sparkly eyeshadows
I totally agree with all of your choices! The only thing I struggle with now is always being on the hunt for that "perfect" lip color and bronzer! I have tried all of them and can't find the right one. Trying not to fall prey to the marketing ads. It's difficult for sure! Happy Holidays!!
Thanks for talking me out of the new Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette. I had it in my cart for a few days and I was on the fence. BTW, I have been enjoying your recommendation Nudestix in Bareback. It has been my go to everyday blush since I purchased it two months ago. I love the color and its staying power, I had to get another one to leave it in my gym bag. 😂
I completely agree with so many of these! I’ve recently committed to never buying dry shampoo in aerosol form again…I do use the bumble and bumble pret a powder, sprinkled lightly at night then in the morning hit it with my blow dryer, only on day 3 then wash it out after day 4.
i always love every video you upload girl!! literally my favorite lifestyle
This video is a breath of fresh air! Thank you!❤
The timing of this video is perfect. I was just thinking how I have too much and I am making a pack to myself not to buy!!!!! and use what I have. Planning on for the next year to limit unnecessary purchases and do with less. Sending 💕
The section with the tanning products cracked me up 😂Loooved all the videos so far, thank u Allana 🩵✨
Very refreshing content. Really appreciate your decisions and your rationales.
Natural deodorant is a hell no for me too. I’m a sweaty gal and they do not do a thing for me 😅 I stopped dry shampoo too. I now don’t buy until I’ve used up something which actually makes me use things more because I want to then try something new. Love these kinds of videos. Love you and what you do ❤
Natural deodorant isn't supposed to make you not sweat. It's just to help mask the odor
Agree with everything you said and more! I think your natural hair color is looking so pretty by the way❤
Love this! Yes, less is more for sure when you have sensitive skin. My sunscreen is an excellent primer😎
Thank you Allana! Needed to be reminded that we don't need all these products! Sending much love ❤❤
I loved this video. Especially since I was just considering buying the Hourglass palette today. Consider me deinfluenced lol
Your note in the description box about your lippie made me cackle 😂
i love this! this was so refreshing to watch
You are the only RUclipsr I watch and I’ll keep watching every single video till the RUclips disappears.
I trust you I appreciate your honesty
I couldn't live without eyeshadow primer. They have been life changing to me. Especially the Nars you are holding.
Excellent video, one of your best! Thanks for the honesty.
Eyeshadow palettes!! Totally agree. I still just use my OG Mac shadows and every time I think about buying a new one I know I won't bother using it when I have my faves.
So true on the eyeshadow pallets - I use the SAME Tom Ford and Inglot eye shadow pallets on the daily - the rest of my collection sits in hopes one day I will be inspired to be creative, but the reality of my every day life is that simple eyes are what I gravitate towards!
Love these videos! I told myself I will finish all the stuff I have before buying anything else
I have definitely stopped buying so much only buying things i run out of and need replaced. During Lanmas I really hope you do a updated makeup bag video and a makeup collection or declutter videos. 🎄
I’m loving your evolution ❤❤❤❤
I have way to many lipsticks. Going through them now and making a list and checking it twice 😂. As I really think about this I need to this on all categories. Thank you ❤❤
Thank you! Many of us feel the same and honestly im tired of watching “influencers” pushing products we dont need. It gets old..we need different content…love life style favorites!
