Oh My Gosh... one of my first pairs of tap shoes were the first ones John mentioned! I got them from the studio I was at as a child in the mid 2000s! I was slightly embarrassed to wear them, but they were so comfortable! I'm sad that I grew out of them. I never thought I would see someone else with them--my mind is blown!

Can I buy your split sole high tops?
Hi! I am new to tap dancing. I just think it’s fun to watch and now I want to try it myself but I don’t know what kind of shoes to look after or what kind of shoes that will fit me the best. What should I do?
Hi ! You can start with a simple tap shoe by capezio. One that isn't terrible expensive to figure out what size tap shoe you are. You can also go into a capezio store and try the tap shoes on.
@@EmilyJeanne it’s just that I live in Norway and we don’t really have that kind of stores in my city. I also have small feet so I’m afraid the shoes I’m ordering will slip. I’m usually a size 7.
For many people, they order a size up from their street size. I have narrow feet so I buy my normal size in Capezio. I prefer the capezio slip-on split sole shoe but it would be better to buy a full sole pair of shoes for starting out

I know that the Roxies are advertised on the LaDuca website as the Rockettes' "official tap shoe," but they also wear Capezio tap shoes in the Christmas Spectacular for "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and "Rag Dolls." Still don't know if that's through a separate supply contract or a grandfather clause in the LaDuca contract, though.
Any advice for a custom made pair of La Duca Tap? Already have the Roxie pair.

I purchased the Angelique's and asked them to put a double build on the bottom along with taps! I love them! One thing to think about is whether you want a 2.5 inch heel or a 3 inch heel!
@@EmilyJeanne thank you. Very helpful and interesting. Wasn’t thinking of the 3”. Just sticking to the 2.5” presuming that’s the height most performers would wear in shoes like 42nd St.
With having two pairs of Elizabeth’s 3” in both black and nude as normal dance shoes I thought the 3 was too high for tap. Please correct me if I’m wrong. 🙂
How does the La Duca Roxie sizing compare to the K360 sizing?
SO LOVE your video! I'm a figure skater who had to have 2 hip replacements. Looking for another way to stay in shape and have FUN! Your video taught me a lot! Like caramel heels is the best way to audition and how heels are a "thing". But I'll start with low heels until I get more fit! I've been on 4 figure skating teams, who says I won't be on a Tap team some day!! THANKS!!
What size are your Capezio split sole boots? Would you sell them? I have a lot of scar tissue on one foot due to burns and skin grafts, so regular shoes without padding rub my skin into open sores immediately. (No blisters, just missing skin.) I'm a beginner who's losing heart, so I have to ask, as your tap boots would work perfectly for my situation. (My street shoes are men's Rockport Eureka Wide-6.5 with a custom fit-thotic orthotic.) :-)
Have you used anything like a Capezio CG17 or the Roxy? These are for a 14 year old... her foot is probably done growing.

Which shoe would you recommend for a narrower foot, especially a narrow heel? Everyone around me talks about Miller and Bens in general, but I don't think they all have narrow feet like me. Also, I have always wanted high heeled shoes, but even in regular high heels, it is hard for me to find ones where my heel doesn't come out. I'm not going on auditions or anything, just taking weekly classes. @3:14 you said the LaDuca Roxies fall off your ankle even though they have a strap, so they don't sound like a good fit for me, but do you have the same problem with the Angeliques? I was hoping to find shoes that could arrive sooner than I would imagine any custom LaDucas would take. (aaaaaand I live in AK, so any tips to cut down the shipping time and costs would be much appreciated!) Thank you! This was a very informative video.
Hi! The Angelique's have a narrower heel so they do not fall off my foot! I believe you can also ask for a narrow shoe if you order miller and ben! I'm not quite sure about shipping costs. I know that Laduca normally has the angelique's in stock so they can ship right from the warehouse!

Amazing! For a custom pair I would also add a build up on the base of the shoe to get a thicker tap sound! Also decided whether or not you want a 2 inch or 3 inch heel!
How old are John's black K360s?
The black K360's are about a year old. He custom designed through the capezio store in NYC

Hey! So I’m a musical theatre choreographer and tap teacher. However, I do not use heels often- I lean more into street tap. I’ve been dancing in custom K 360s (double built I believe) for literally 12 years. Obviously they are falling apart so I’m looking to buy a new pair! As far as non heeled taps, what do you recommend? I want to branch out, but I have loved every minute of my K360s
Hi ! I love my K360's! You can never go wrong with those! I recently purchased a pair of Jason Samuel Smith Tap Shoes from Bloch that come in fun colors! They are great! Similar to the k360's and less expensive.
