Not gonna lie, when he first trimmed his locs I was upset!! I knew a big chop was eventually coming. & I honestly judged his decision but after going through my own changes I realized that our hair should not dictate us. I had grown my free forms for a year, loved the journey & definitely loved them but I started them at a time in my life where I needed to just surrender everything to the universe, to the most high & get to know my inner self.. I began healing & dealing with a lot of trauma especially from my childhood & began to love me for me again which was my ultimate goal. Once I achieved that it was like as soon as my 1 year anniversary hit, I began getting this nudging feeling that it was time to comb them out & release all of that negative energy that had built up & been brought to the forefront throughout the year from my shadow work. I hesitated at first and eventually gave in & so far I have no regrets. This set served their purpose and my inner self was telling me that it was time to release & move on to another phase of my life. I do see myself starting another set in the near future, but they will be for a different purpose & different goals!! Plz stop bashing this man. Free forming is also about FREEING YOURSELF & not caring about others opinions!! Who knows, some of u may come to a time in your life where u feel u need a big change or maybe u won't but that is OKAY!! DO WHAT U FEEL IS BEST FOR U & DON'T LET OTHER PEOPLE MAKE U FEEL BAD ABOUT FOLLOWING YOUR INTUITION. I think that's the beauty in us, that we can change & adapt at will. Peace, love & light to all. ✌️❤️⚡
Usually when someone cuts their hair it's because they're going through a change in their life. It's the same as growing . It's a new beginning for my boy. 💯
That’s how I feel 💯 even when u cut reg hair u feel a release but at the same time if u can gain insight and knowledge while u got them and things it’s all connected to your temple
I went through two sets myself, my first set I had 3 1/2yrs and the chopped them. I grew up old school Haitian, my parent (specifically my dad) pressured me often and I eventually chopped them. Now my second set I started growing them back not even a year after I chopped the first set. I got married, moved away, 12yrs later I recent chopped again. 12yrs, I didn't think I'd ever chop them again but one day it just felt like it was time. Everyone journey is different ✌🏾🙏🏾

Bob Marley loved to play football and he grew his dreadlocks for 16 years Grow your dreadlocks Don’t be afraid of the wolfpack Bob Marley and the wailers
@MrSqilz what am I on about? He converted to Rastafari when he was 20 years old and died when he was 36 years old. From that time til near his death he grew his hair into dreadlocks. Do you know different?
Thanks for putting this together for us. As he said, he was a loc legend. He definitely inspired me. Sad to see some people being harsh in the comments. I respect his decision for HIS journey. Again, THANKS for spending time making this for the community and know that you inspire us too! DREADication! ❤️
Zay is making power moves out here, and to that much respect! He is an entrepreneur in a whole different country/continent from which he came from. He has to survive just like all of us, even more so with that in mind. So you know what that means. I’m not saying I’m right on this, but just taking a guess. I wish things were different but there is a strong correlation between professional advancement and hair. I believe he felt it was time in order to pull off what he is trying to accomplish.
you don't know how he really feels, it could have freed him in a certain way, a lot of people discriminate them and treat you differently because of them, and think their dirty and don't have the same mindset, props to you for keep growing your hair tho it takes a strong person
I loved his locs, and I’m sure he did too. But sometimes one is called for a new journey. I was called to cut off my first set of locs before my current freeform journey (I’ll be 2 years in come Aug 15, 2022). I’m glad he is unafraid to take the next step of his spiritual journey. Sometimes, the Most High calls us to release pst energy & cut soul ties; could have something to do with his big chop.
It's the most most beautiful thing to celebrate the people who inspire you while they are alive. Thank you for this❤. & big ups to Zayloc for being a real one and sharing his journey with all of us. I'm grateful.
One more thing! It also seem CONTRADICTING from watching his videos over the years up until now. I mean to be so extremely positive and one with self so spiritual and loving to watch. The way he delivered his messages I thought one must always try to embrace Mother Nature 🌞🌻🙏🏾
So you’re basing positivity, Spirituality and truth on whether or not one stays the “same” throughout their journey... he changed his mind, his journey ended, he shifted, why does that offend people? Your journey is all that should be relevant to you not his... seems like the people that are upset missed the entire point of a Journey... it’s about fluidity, not sticking to a course, mindset or path just because you felt a particular way about it in the past... It’s hair!!! It’s not like he was a Black Lives Matter activist then married a White Supremecist... that would be a viable conversation...
The locks on my head, represents my blackness an the covenant I've made wit my creator an Mother Earth 🌍. black race is the first man to walk wit the creator an Mother Earth on this planet.
I mean we're all just overly evolved apes no human was created and no one race or color is "chosen" in fact. If you want to be technical it's impossible that a black man walked the earth first. early humans weren't white or black they had a medium skin tone like an Egyptian or Mexican. Being black just means you have a bit more Melanin, an adaptation that humans skin developed to help deal with the harsh Sun of ancient Africa at the time when we humans spread out across pangea.
Also the earliest examples of dreadlocks we have in history is by the ancient Greeks in 3600 BC that's around the same time trade started with ancient Egyptians where it was adapted and from there and moved to Africa eventually through trading routes. Before then traditionally Egyptian and Africans didn't keep hair because lice crabs and other diseases were rampant and bred and clung to hair women and men all had shaved heads. The ancient greeks Bathing and being in a different climate actually made the hairstyle sustainable. So it wasn't possible for ancient Africans or Greeks to have locks unless they just had waves of lice on their head 24/7
I've watched this video multiple times now. I just love it. If hair really is spiritual and locs really are antennas, then there's a big connection between that and our guidance system. I believe we are led to do something as radical and spiritual as freeform locs by our inner being. The longer they grow the more awakened we become, the higher we vibrate. And if after all that journey we reach a point (with peace) to release the locs, then that's still our inner being. Higher Self knows what we need, and once the purpose has been served we can be allowed to release what we once needed. To keep them would be out of desire - which is beautiful if the desire is actually there. Imagine keeping what you no longer need without the desire to keep it, that would be burdensome. Remember how religion felt? I do. Yikes. Our antennas are not meant to become law over us. And that's beautiful.
What if cutting your hair wasn’t an option? Why do we keep changing the way we look? Why do we go to barbaric shops or so called beauty salons? Why do the hair keep growing every time we cut it? Cutting your hair seems like a never ending process to me. I remember his videos and how he expressed growing the natty!!! He was huge with accepting yourself the way you are. Sometimes I wish BABYLON didn’t give us so many options.
Beloved I’ve seen thousands of people with thicker heavier hair than Zayloc. Historically I’ve seen ancient Egyptians with thicker longer hair. He may need to research if hair is causing the neck pain. This is the first time I’ve heard long hair causing neck pain. I wonder if Damian Marley has neck pain. Also beloved in ancient times barbaric shops didn’t exist.
You, Angela, have managed to sum up why I’ll never cut my locs and I don’t cut any of the hairs on my body! You are spot on. Without fail, it always grows back! Never ending process
New beginnings, we all go through these things. 1 1/2 years in on this set, and I'm presently in my vow and will have to cut my locs, eventually. Big ups to Zayloc.
The same way a tree sheds it’s leaves but keeps the branches, roots, and trunk. I think shedding/cutting the LOCked energy when you’ve grown so much is a beautiful thing and only you will know if you need to do so.
Im a year into my free form locs and every couple of months I end up here on youtube checking out others journey's, this might have been the 3rd video I've seen on yours, who of my homies was featured on one of your rating videos which was cool to see but I always take away some inspiration for your content! Shout out to the OGs who continue to share their stories and wisdom! Much appreciated, Blessings!
Love your channel, I'm new to Knot Nation...I I really like your content. I am almost a year loc'd myself and your channel inspired me to take the leap from semi-freeform to freeform. Can't believe Zayloc23 cutt'em off but he said he's on a new journey of self. His notty looks good though. nowadays
Zayloc23 is one dready that I have been following since 2010 or so.. I found him by looking up dread videos I also heard a song playing in the background called before David by the legendary band Midnite..I been on the Roots hard since and im on my 3rd set of locks..Big Ups to you Mr NayShun..Massive content!!!
I used to watch his videos when I first got locks in high school I’ve literally just cut my locks and started freeforming, he was part of the inspiration. He even talked different, he was all Ital, peace blessings and it went with his locs😂
I can understand the weight aspect because his type of dread would get heavy, but I don't understand why you would want to chop your nerves off completely. Can't fathom doing a complete chop like that. I know I'm not the same man/strong without my nervous system being extended. It's deeper than just a hairstyle.
Never cutting my dreads no matter what people say.got told the other day by two African ladies I shouldn't have locs they looked at me and said that isn't right you shouldn't have them.only bit of negativity I have received have a few Caribbean and south African people my locs are sick for a white dude haha 😄 7 years without a haircut it's been dreded for about 4 n half years now.love from Scotland
People should be worrying more about the world we live in and making it better for our future generations instead of worrying about my hair that's what I say to them at the end of the day ma locs aren't killing or doing bad shit or hurting you in anyway so move on.some people love the locs it great taking about them to people and explaining the process of them and telling them why I decided to go go down the dreadlock road lol
Remember everybody it's only hair!! 🤦🏾♀️ it's all about the journey!! Not the hair and if you want to start the journey again you can!!🤷🏾♀️🤷🏿♂️ it's about not getting attached to the physical not caring what anybody thinks outside of yourself. One door closes but many have opened remember it's the journey peace and love family 💜💙💚💛🧡❤
But what if cutting your hair wasn’t an option? Why cut it if Mother Nature keep allowing it to grow? Cutting your hair seems like a never ending process to me.. peace and love family
@@angelacoleman5259 knowledge is a never-ending process🤷🏾♀️ see what I mean? But everybody's journey is different some people journey is long and some people journey is short. That's why you always enjoy the journey. But if you asked a hundred different people the same question you going to get a hundred different answers so life is too short to worry.
Beloved but your hair never stop growing. It’s a natural process by Mother Nature. He said to embrace the way Mother Nature made you. Those were his words. Remember my love barbaric shops didn’t exist at one point.
Wow! This literally stopped me from cutting my dreads off this week! 5 years and 5 months now. I struggle with them because of where I’m from being profiled and assumptions for the police and community is bible. Sad but I love my locs! I’m just tired of being profiled in these bias people heads. He changed that for sure.
Amazing. I’ve been watching his videos the whole journey and he inspired me to get my own dreads. Great collaboration!! ❤️🥰 man…10 years. Just awesome. 🥰
When he went to Ghana 🇬🇭 things changed. You are a “Rasta” everywhere you go. You will be most likely stopped by the police when traveling through different regions. It’s hard making moves over there because everyone is thinking you’re a weed smoker or seller. I believe he cut his locs to blend in, that’s my opinion.
What’s up Knot, it’s been a few years. You might remember me as Guerrilla Strats from a few of your streams back when. Long story short you and Zay were some of my earliest inspiration ( going on 3.5 years) . Zay cutting his locs is really … off man. I feel I was rubbed the wrong way by Gunther too back when he “changed” on RUclips. I understand everyone grows and experiences life differently, but I feel maybe social media and society in general has a heavy influence on these decisions. Idk man maybe I’m just speaking out my opinion. I appreciate all of you guys. I’m sure you’ll cut yo shit too and have the community triggered at some point . Till then, I can’t forget why I started. Can’t wait to pass Zay . Hope you don’t tap .
All of this's so shameful 😔😔😔 The locks on my head, represents my blackness an the covenant I've made wit my creator an Mother Earth 🌍. black race is the first man to walk wit the creator an Mother Earth on this planet. He love to use the word Nazarene 😔😔😔😔. Do he know wat a Nazarene is an mean ??? It mean persecution an demonization an hardships. Dnt bow to social media pressure. For likes 😔😔😔😔😔😔😔😔
@@nickwilson5568 if you judge Zayloc for making this decision, then that is the same energy we get from some who look down on us for having locs. Love is love. Lift the brethren up. Its his journey, respect it. He is doing great things on the continent. More than most!
I wonder if he considered separating the thicker ones before cutting them all off. Would love to have heard his thought process throughout, but that is personal to him. Thanks for taking the time to edit this for us all to view bro. Locs or not, Zayloc is an inspiration to many to continue on their journey. He is still putting in work on the motherland to move the continent forward. I pray he continues on that path. Bless!
I’m a little over 7 months with locs but I have straight hair, I kinda wanna restart and go with a more natural way because I started my locs with crochet needle
The so fresh and clean part. Growing your natural is fresh and clean also. I’m just trying to figure out what changed from his previous videos of reasoning.
Smh, he cut them makes me feel he was not real in all the stuff he was saying about his natural hair and all knowledgeable. Then they were very long, I would have never cut them
Big ups on everyone's NEW journey, whatever phase you may be in. Never despise the humble beginnings for the Most High YAH said that he would do a NEW THING.. a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). Praise Yahusha Messiah for creating us in his image! Beautiful. Shalom!
I mean with all respect ppl do freeform for the journey. He probably missed his short hair. It’s all the same to me. 3.5 years in ,respect to everyone that stick with the process. The journey to self is hard.
Having Locs in a place where maybe it’s looked down upon May be a factor to his decision. Being locked is NOT looked upon favorable. We need to just not be vested in other people’s journey. Live and let live. I wish him the best.
Dude went to Ghana to try and make some moves. Most Africans stereotype a man with dreadlocks. They immediately think he is a weed smoker or seller, or even mentally challenged. It’s hard to do business over there looking like he did.
Blahahahahahahaha, I instinctively knew he was not solid. It’s so powerful when you get proof of your first instinct about another Being. He flipped, Lol 😆. So cool of you to make this video showing how some among us aren’t truly what we claim we are. Real gods Don’t cut their Original locs off period, especially someone who talked sooooo much “loc-talk” the way that he did. Ha!
Idk why but I be hurt when someone cuts there locks 😢 like hurt hurt 😢😢😢 almost like a Mad kinda hurt😭 the kind of hurt you feel when you lose a brother to suicide is probably the best way I can describe it 😢😭
same... for me its because I had a shitty job for YEARS and always wanted locs, when I finally left the job first thing I did was let my hair grow, travelled the world, total freedom!!! when I see folks cut their locs it reminds me of my past shitty life, when I had no freedom, and had to be fake for 9 hours a day and confirm to slave society... BUT, I would never tell anyone what to do with their hair. Who knows, some folks have cut their locs and grown them back!
I’ve been growing my locks for 34 years. I started in 1992. They’re on the floor and dragon, but there has been a problem with the top. I was a school bus driver for 26 years and when it got to a point I couldn’t wear my hair down. I had to wear a wrap on my head every day And the top of my hair out I still have the length from my ears all the way back down to the flow, but the top is much shorter. Get some put in before I heard about wick it was called Cox true not my name is Margaret Fort and I live in Baton Rouge Louisiana.

I found him by looking up dread videos I also heard a song playing in the background called before David by the legendary band Midnite..I been on the Roots hard since and im on my 3rd set of locks..Big Ups to you Mr NayShun..Massive content!!!
Amazing remember when he started . Time flys by.
The look at 2 years was amazing! Dope
I used to watch his videos when I first got locks in high school I’ve literally just cut my locks and started freeforming, he was part of the inspiration. He even talked different, he was all Ital, peace blessings and it went with his locs😂
Every time we lose a loc legend it feels like losing a roommate after college graduation 😂 Relationship is never the same after! Dope video man!
I can understand the weight aspect because his type of dread would get heavy, but I don't understand why you would want to chop your nerves off completely. Can't fathom doing a complete chop like that. I know I'm not the same man/strong without my nervous system being extended. It's deeper than just a hairstyle.
I feel like he will grow them back like how he first grew them out and keep it like that.
@@neverhungryagain2187 Nah I don't think so .
@@KS-lb1tu everybody that got dreads always grow em back
I knew you was gone make this 🔥🔥🔥
Ofcourse. I had to !
Yeah🤎🤎✌🏾✌🏾4eva🔒'D
Damn this was some quality content right here! Much respect to the both of you, will continue to follow him. Bless up!
Crazy how you'll hear the best and worst from both ends of the spectrum. Part of growing locs is growing thicker skin too. Thanks for sticking thru it
People should be worrying more about the world we live in and making it better for our future generations instead of worrying about my hair that's what I say to them at the end of the day ma locs aren't killing or doing bad shit or hurting you in anyway so move on.some people love the locs it great taking about them to people and explaining the process of them and telling them why I decided to go go down the dreadlock road lol
@@KNOTNATION could I send you a few pics of my locs would love to see what you think 🤔
white people don’t have locs bozo
@@piscesmercury and why not
Zaylock 23 should have never cut his Freeform dreadlocks but he did it now is all over now. He went to a New journey.!!!💯💯😎😎💪🏿💪🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
@@angelacoleman5259 knowledge is a never-ending process🤷🏾♀️ see what I mean? But everybody's journey is different some people journey is long and some people journey is short. That's why you always enjoy the journey. But if you asked a hundred different people the same question you going to get a hundred different answers so life is too short to worry.
Beloved but your hair never stop growing. It’s a natural process by Mother Nature. He said to embrace the way Mother Nature made you. Those were his words. Remember my love barbaric shops didn’t exist at one point.
Now we will see that many people will also cut their locs.
Am crying now, why zayloc, why cutting your freeform locks 😭😭😭😭
Wow! This literally stopped me from cutting my dreads off this week! 5 years and 5 months now. I struggle with them because of where I’m from being profiled and assumptions for the police and community is bible. Sad but I love my locs! I’m just tired of being profiled in these bias people heads. He changed that for sure.
Take spiritual baths and burn a black candle to clear your energy. Clear your hair with head Washes
Grow your dreadlocks !, don’t be afraid of the wolf pack ! I feel you
Time is open ended
No start no end
Before you and after you, will be in continuous till almighty end time
So the journey was before I and after I
Amazing. I’ve been watching his videos the whole journey and he inspired me to get my own dreads. Great collaboration!! ❤️🥰 man…10 years. Just awesome. 🥰
Another beautiful video and an amazing journey he had truly an amazing sole as are you knot nation. Much love and keep it knatty ,✌️✌️
He can ALWAYS just do it again.
Chance is not more than one
When he went to Ghana 🇬🇭 things changed. You are a “Rasta” everywhere you go. You will be most likely stopped by the police when traveling through different regions. It’s hard making moves over there because everyone is thinking you’re a weed smoker or seller. I believe he cut his locs to blend in, that’s my opinion.
You still gonna get stopped regardless. You can be bald headed and get stopped.
Many freeformers dey for Ghana for real😊
There are so many dreadheads.
I'm a dreadhead too😊
Legendary
All of this's so shameful 😔😔😔
The locks on my head, represents my blackness an the covenant I've made wit my creator an Mother Earth 🌍. black race is the first man to walk wit the creator an Mother Earth on this planet.
Bless!
Cutting hair is also natural. Locked or not.. I have a goal length, then one day, I too will cut mine ✌ just as I always have in life..
Really appreciate all the energy you put in this !
I’m a little over 7 months with locs but I have straight hair, I kinda wanna restart and go with a more natural way because I started my locs with crochet needle
Go ahead.
Do the real dreads bro.
I like freeform over every other hairstyle 😊
Johnny the dred, you, and zay got the best locks on yt
Commenting bc of the effort & dreadication put into this video that I thoroughly enjoyed. Love.
I’m Started Over On My Loc Journey Too After November, Ima Eventually Grow Out FreeForms
If I start mines too, Imma let it grooooooow.
i like how u made such a big video on the road instead of at home in a room
Stop Palm rolling, brother.... kudos on the lifestyle change!
He a veteran in the game fr. Him, You, Fabian, Deandre Hopkins and Busta Rhymes made me want mines.
much love
I feel like he might loc up again some later time in his life.
Who else noticed his swag changed once he cut his hair. He went from humble to kinda arrogant. 🤷🏾♂️
The so fresh and clean part. Growing your natural is fresh and clean also. I’m just trying to figure out what changed from his previous videos of reasoning.
I think the fresh and clean is just a reference to what society considers fresh and clean. Locs is more of a life style then a beauty style.
Them lips perched like a mug...
On my second go round cut mines before and now I got them again about 9 years in on this set
Never almost klose to 5yrs strong no razor shall touch my wig #MyNunchucks
Smh, he cut them makes me feel he was not real in all the stuff he was saying about his natural hair and all knowledgeable. Then they were very long, I would have never cut them
It was about that time for him; cleaned it up he definitely tchalla in my world now
Leviticus 19:27

Big ups on everyone's NEW journey, whatever phase you may be in. Never despise the humble beginnings for the Most High YAH said that he would do a NEW THING.. a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). Praise Yahusha Messiah for creating us in his image! Beautiful. Shalom!
He made the comment "its simple and clean" indicating that his free-form was NOT simple and clean
Don’t cap, the low cut look better on him.
I mean with all respect ppl do freeform for the journey. He probably missed his short hair. It’s all the same to me. 3.5 years in ,respect to everyone that stick with the process. The journey to self is hard.
he really had beautiful hair
Having Locs in a place where maybe it’s looked down upon May be a factor to his decision. Being locked is NOT looked upon favorable. We need to just not be vested in other people’s journey. Live and let live. I wish him the best.
Dude went to Ghana to try and make some moves. Most Africans stereotype a man with dreadlocks. They immediately think he is a weed smoker or seller, or even mentally challenged. It’s hard to do business over there looking like he did.
Crating and letting go, a really hard thing to do, that’s one of the reasons why I started
Ha!
I have straight hair locs so I can’t really do freeform but this is dope af
People don't really love their locs the way they say they do.
Frfr.
this loc chop encourages me to stick with mines for as long as possible
The nigga had his shit for 10 years and dedicated a whole RUclips channel to his hair. The fuck you talking about he didn’t love his locks.
@@XmarcX92 He obviously fell out of love because he cut them like? 😂

This video will become Legendary, Lol 😆
Legendary locs
What kind of shampoo do you use for your locs
I’ve been growing my locks for 34 years. I started in 1992. They’re on the floor and dragon, but there has been a problem with the top. I was a school bus driver for 26 years and when it got to a point I couldn’t wear my hair down. I had to wear a wrap on my head every day And the top of my hair out I still have the length from my ears all the way back down to the flow, but the top is much shorter. Get some put in before I heard about wick it was called Cox true not my name is Margaret Fort and I live in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
I started following zayloc on his 8th year
dang! came in late to the game! It was into his 3rd year of freeforming when I decided to go for it also
Keeping mine 🖤 1yr 4months 🤘🏽
