I think the reason they locked them to each class for now. Is they, much like the Loyalists in the ops mode. They are specific named characters they plan to use for Chaos ops and horde maps they may have planned later on. And I have a feeling when they reveal the Chaos ops/horde maps (possibly like I said) in a future update. That is when we will get to tinker with the Chaos customization. This first wave/year they focus on the Loyalist. Then they do the Traitors. SM1 had you playing as them during a map on Exterminatus after launch and fighting Imperium forces. Which they already have the assets for and would be foolish to not use as a technical "third faction" to fight. Something tells me this will be no different. And even the classes on the Loyalist side are named and are all Ultramarines no matter what skin/chapter we put on them.

And not a single one for Thousand Sons which are already in the main campaign. Honestly I'd rather they cut down on the amount of loyalist chapter options and toss the ability customize the same amount of Chaos just to keep things fair and sell more options for both sides later down the line.

This is probably for class identification. The imperium get the different mk 10 armors like gravis and Phobos which have different silhouettes but chaos have older armors that don’t. It would make it harder to tell what you are up against if the different classes all looked the same
I think the fairly distinct weapon and ability differences would make it pretty obvious though. Like you're never going to mix up a bulwark with a heavy, because one uses heavy ranged weapons and an iron halo, while the other uses a shield and banner. The vanguard, tactical, and sniper classes sure use similar variations of rifles, pistols, and knives, but if they want them to be distinctive then just have the abilities be easily visually represented on the models, like the sniper's cloak hanging off the back or the tactical and vanguard's devices on their hip. Also even if all the classes were visually identical, you could still easily tell them apart by what ability each one is using, since the multi-player is 6v6 and there's only 6 classes, I'm assuming there won't be any class swapping option after the game starts or at least not class stacking.
@@tau-5794 It is true that gear and posture could be identifiable enough, and maybe I am mistaken. However I think having classes that are easy to tell apart in a brief glance is a good game design principle. There is some gear overlap with several classes like tactical vanguard and sniper having similar “rifle carry” weapons. I think this makes it a little on the edge whether they’re different enough. I had not even considered the possibility of not being able to swap classes mid round. Personally that doesn’t sound very fun but we’ll have to see.
Okay so lore whores aside the main reason is they didn’t think the game would be as successful as it was. Now it’s been confirmed that it’s coming in one of the next updates, but be honest guys it’s Warhammer this is probably the biggest influx of interest it’s ever had and it was not anticipated. I’m not a 40k nerd but I’ve always thought the law was cool having seen the how good the game was and polished it is compared to everything else these days I can see the devs and publish justifying the cost of large a scale investment into dropping the content as fast as possible while fixing the few network issues and the the one really annoying bug that matches you out of reason. Other than the soft locking there’s and issue with the customisation menu bugging out but all of those are the indicators to restart your game and then there fixed for a few hours or until someone in the lobby bugs out
It makes sense they're doing full skins for chaos marines, because you can use the loyalist marines in both PvE and PvP, while the chaos marines are locked to PvP. I also kind if understand their choice to restrict them to certain classes, even if I don't like it that much, but it sticks each to a theme that makes sens for each legion. Like it wouldn't make sense for a World Eater to be a sniper or the Night Lords to use an iron halo and shield to help his teammates
I don't care about what they're going to do unless it's free. They've already confirmed that this aspect of the game is going to be worse than it's predecessor on release. Why should anybody be made to pay for something that should just be included on launch?
Whenever a games multiplayer has time gated content I simply just don’t participate in it. I work a lot and have a family so time is a valuable commodity and I’d rather have a game crunch my time even more.
No it didn't, stop spreading misinformation. In space marine one you can only choose base colors for one of 3 classes, few accessories, and certain presets, and it was mostly just one on the 9 legions for heretic and loyal. Space Marine 2 has not only all 9 loyalist legions, but multiple successor chapters, and even many more obscure hidden chapters that most general fans like myself don't know much about. You can go for presets or paint each individual part of the space marine. speaking of paint, not only is there a much bigger selection of paints but are also named after the actual paints used for the miniatures. You can also choose multiple decal options like knee patterns, body patterns, emblems, and even helmet patterns. Also 6 classes instead of the original 3, each one with unique armor styles and accessories which can be equipped together in a set, or mix and match. Your just wrong.
@@iamgamerfun4032 you’re joking right? Where’s the mark 7 helmet? Mrk6 , mrk4 ??? People like just eat slop up like this just because it looks pretty, there’s barely any customization in space marine 2 compared too the first game you are simply just wrong
@@ethankelleher426 really helmets? The game just came out of a five day early access, it had an amazing campaign that was an awesome continuation of titus story, fun multiplayer, engaging coop, weapon upgrades and skill trees. And it's slop because of fucking helmets? That's all that is missing from space marine 1 is a few helmets and the ability to fully customize chaos legions. Customization is still far more in depth then space marine 1, and I know this because I literally played the first game last month to get myself hyped for this. Sure the game had a couple kinks to work out and the servers were a bit difficult to work with, but I don't think that would warrant calling it slop.
@@iamgamerfun4032 I think they were talking about armor customization as in armor pieces. It is pretty disappointing that in space marine 2 chaos has no options for actual armor piece customization aside from color, where space marine 1 had the ability to both change out armor pieces and color them for chaos. Sure, space marine 2 has a lot of armor and colors for loyalists, but the other entire half of the pvp players get no customization beyond painting their armor.
They are "painted" like different legions but they all have the Nightlords armour, so your Deathguard will be green but have the Nightlords symbol on their chest and the helm will have the red batwings. The same will be true for the other classes, the sniper will always have the Alpha Legion scaled shoulderpad, the Bulwark will always look like a plague marine, etc etc.

I really hope they add chaos sm to pve, I kno it would be weird fighting with other chapters but Im not really a pvp player so Ill have no other way to see their dope armor lol
I think it’s fine. They are a secondary faction and I think in the tabletop rules and lore, the chaos marine factions are not as well developed anyway. As far as paywalls, the developers of Chivalry 2 did this with the Tenosian skins. You have to buy the passes to unlock most of their armors and weapons. I don’t see this being a big deal unless maybe a player is a huge chaos marine fan.
I know it's not a common thing but I would like to be able to have iron warriors with jump packs chain swords and plasma pistols because from my iron warriors army in the miniatures game I run 30 raptors 3 squads of 10 for my 2k army and I'd like to actually choose the appropriate look and not wait for oh I can choose what color is where on what part of the armor like the trim on the shoulder an possible pattern on the non trim area to get my gold trim with black and yellow hazard stripes same with on my one leg add hazard stripes on the forearm of my guy also on my chainsword but I doubt that's how that would work epic and GW are not that nice to their players or customer base because bandai and sunrise we're not that nice when it came to the Gundam breaker games oh if I want to use a set of legs I have to use the matching hips and if I'm going to use a set of arms I have to use the exact matching shoulder armor like what if I want Gundam heavy arm shoulders with the missile pods but I want destiny Gundam arms and hands for energy shield emitters and a energy blaster in the palm of the hand and I want the freedom Gundam hip railguns but I want the astray Gundam hips nope can't do that you have to have the freedom hips as well and you have to have destiny Gundam shoulders so I doubt we're going to get the proper customization we want in this game until we start petitioning for it. But it doesn't mean they will actually listen Maybe I don't want my power sword to have blue electricity maybe I want to have red electricity sparking across it same with the lightning hammer maybe I want red or green for my plasma pistol for the energy
Yh your ideas are crazy. The problem will already be, that most players will prefer space marines and this could actually ruin the whole pvp. They just need to give players more chaos skins simply because otherwise the matchmaking will become a horror. Putting all this behind a paywall is not helping that much. You dont need crap like "offering enough" or nonsense like that.
Why would you advocate for limited time only? Isn’t that what we’re trying to get rid of?
I also think part of it is for fluff reasons. Death Guard with a jump pack? Absurd.
Im sure it will change and add more in future updates
The fomo will hit me like a bus if they go with the Fortnite method
I hope they change this,also I wanted a chainaxe
I don't care about what they're going to do unless it's free.
They've already confirmed that this aspect of the game is going to be worse than it's predecessor on release.
Why should anybody be made to pay for something that should just be included on launch?
Dude I hope they don't add a battle pass. I'm tired of them
There’s a battle pass purely cosmetic
@@Lemon.Lime.69z no what are u talking about 😂
Whenever a games multiplayer has time gated content I simply just don’t participate in it. I work a lot and have a family so time is a valuable commodity and I’d rather have a game crunch my time even more.
Booooooo! I just wanna run around as a Word Bearer, maybe one day. I’ll throw extra $$$ to do so, it’s a tax write off for us followers of Lorgar!
lol it’s crazy how the FIRST GAME had so much more customization 💀the first game came out 12 years ago 💀💀💀🤡
@SirSaltythe1st see thats a far better argument, but to flat out say the first game had way better customization is a lie.
ONCE AGAIN. EMPERORS CHILDREN ARE GETTING SHAFTED.
This pissed me off 😤 Pvp gets boring real quick
If it’s all locked legion locked why in the screenshot do all the chapters have a jump pack
No Emperors Children?
Laziness they were delayed game was rushed look at pvp patchetic 3 maps one faction completely ignored yet they drew it all up.
It's coming for free post launch
Saber and Focus know better than to trample on this fanbase
Most likely they couldn't add it before launch because of the time crunch
I really hope they add chaos sm to pve, I kno it would be weird fighting with other chapters but Im not really a pvp player so Ill have no other way to see their dope armor lol
Really hoping this is the case
i realy hope so, i wanna enjoy customizing both sides till my hearts content. Would really extend the grind imo for me.
I don’t see this being a big deal unless maybe a player is a huge chaos marine fan.
terminator class when ?
We can’t play as rubrics?
No
Battle Pass? Man, are you fucking serious?
Because it's HERSEY
But it doesn't mean they will actually listen
Maybe I don't want my power sword to have blue electricity maybe I want to have red electricity sparking across it same with the lightning hammer maybe I want red or green for my plasma pistol for the energy
The pvp of warhammer space marine 1 died so fast, if you dont want this games multiplayer to die,
you just need to give the players to have enough skins as they want, considering this game is expensive to buy in the first place.
Their decision to lock chaos legions to certain classes is strange and can seemingly be easily changed.
All your ideas are bad though and would make the game a slog
It will 100% be a DLC
I just wanna be an ork
Lore Accurate maybe ?
You spent most of the video just hypothesizing about what could come..
Well, PVP looks already barebone and bopring and now Legions are tied to classes ?
Damn that game, not out yet though i can smell the gready paws of those marketing fuckers trying to get my 40$ for a mere skin and a couple of recolors after i already paid a full game ?
AHA DON'T PRE-ORDER boys.
DLC for customization then

No to seasonal content

if plauge marines have the same health as the alpha leigion i wont touch the pvp. they better not sacrifice an ounce of lore accuracy for gameplay balance or fun. lore first, fun and balance second. dont fuck it up sabre.
You won't be playing it then. Fun and balance first in pvp then lore. The legions are just a skin not actual fleshed out legion classes
@jacobdoughty3528 yup. its low quality than. disappointing, but not surprising. well never get a truly good warhammer game.
