The only 2 lostwaves I could say “millions have searched for” is Like the Wind and Everyone Knows That. Try to Smile Again had no where close to millions, yet alone a million, searching for it.
Why does this song give me so much early-2000s nostalgia? This feels like the kind of song my mom would have downloaded on the family computer and played for me.

Probably due to the song’s association with smiley faces and smiling in general, the same way that How Long by Paula Toledo was associated with teddy bears and Everyone Knows That was associated with pink radios.
And emotional too, reminds me of my childhood. Remembering when I always had a house in the USA, Timber Trails, Poconos, PA. Timber trails is only accessible to people who owns property there, therefore there is no way to visit the house again. :(

After 20 years the search is over. This story truly ended with happiness. Truly the year for lostwave. I believe we can now find ekt and other popular lostwaves now. But I still think that the only way ekt can be found is if someone comes forward with the full song or a longer snippet, as that’s what happened with this song. I can't believe how many things the original clip never managed to pick up that we're just hearing now. The percussion is more prominent, and the synth stabs on the off-beats too (possible reggae influence?). The bass is more subtle, but more effective (esp. with the F/A chord leading into the pre-chorus). You can actually hear the double-tracked vocals in the pre-chorus, and the faint choirs in the chorus. This is pretty much how the song was meant to be heard, and it's taken more than thirty years for the world to hear it, but I'm so happy we finally can

doing that right now. the reason it goes lopsided is because it goes muffled, kinda hard to fix, plus the fact that the left channel has most of the audio. it's all good tho.

i was searching for a few 80's songs for several years (maybe five, and not constantly). the last one was almost impossible because i had basically no clues, no artists name, no song name, no lyrics. but i asked an AI for clues and it took a while and then i found it. all of the songs are very popular though but that didn't help me, lol. there are still tons of forgotten songs that i barely remember from my youth and later but i know they were really good. i will never find them again and if i would accidentally find some of them i'm not sure that i would even recognize them anymore. there were insane amounts of awesome basically unknown songs that i only heard one single time on the radio, and i listened a lot! i think i was able to tape some of them though but the tapes are probably long gone
