great information thank you, I've played percussion over 20 years, piano over 10, and messed around with various instruments clarinet oboe guitar and bass - I only touched a flute a hand full of times, but I just picked up a pawn shop flute today so, now that I gave it a light sanitization, I'm looking forward to getting a feel for it in quarantine! I like to feel an instrument out on my own, namely because the sum total of lessons for every instrument I'd like to try would be prohibitively expensive... so I've been just messing around - I started to attempt Han and Leias theme from Star Wars, so this video is great because of all the half-tones in that piece. Thanks! As a percussionist its amazing to understand what other players go through - there are good and bad percussionists, but I acknowledge that there is a whole different set of diligence that goes into woodwind brass and string instrument - my neck is sore from the angle only an hour and a half into sporatic playing, not to mention my brittle old fingers haha
i really like your videos.. I'm a beginner and i don't know a lot of things and thanks to your videos it help me a lot in my practices.. Can i ask about this musical symbol and how you play this? just like Appoggiatura, Acciaccatura, Glissando and etc. it made mi confuse how to play these notes. thankyou
I love practicing scales.
Thanks so much, looking forward to the scales workshop
As always this video was so helpful! Great video!

Lucky for me I start off with scales each tome I practice!
Is it unreasonable to write an octatonic scale for the flute with its alternating whole and half steps?

Do octatonic scales play well on the flute at speed? I wrote it in one of my pieces and it seems to be a crux.
Fine
Is that a British accent? I love it.
