Pretty sure it’s a commentary on how internet humor just boils down to things referencing each other and being super short clips with loud noises rather than actual jokes, and at some point u question if ur even laughing at them anymore or if you’ve just been conditioned to laugh when you see or hear certain shit
To think that way is to ignore the cultural context of memes and what was happening in the world at the time. Memes are funny because they can have more meaning than a regular joke ever could.

I still find this video really interesting, because it shows a certain level of awareness of how the general tastes of comedy aren't driven by personal taste but rather what everyone else finds funny. Laughing among the crowd, even as humor itself devolves into less and less actual comedy and more ironic anti-humor and noise. There's no punchline, and yet people laugh, nobody knows why it's funny but they laugh. It's a disease that rots your mind until you're finding it funny too with no idea why, and it usually means that modern attempts at genuine comedy don't get the attention they should. After all, even as I type this some stupid deep fried bass-boosted anti-humor meme probably got a million shares on some other corner of the internet.

@@unpopularopinions7407 I dunno dude, it starts with a couple of jokes that then riff off of each other and are spliced into each other, then a few more jokes enter public awareness and those are added to the already spliced jokes until the result is entirely unrecognisable and just an amalgamation of things that just _are_ funny. Devoid of substance, just a mass of laughter that's imploding in on itself with self referential humour and unknowable context that people are forced to witness in confusion at first before just joining in and contributing. I mean almost everyone knows what I mean by I II II L , but why was it funny in the first place? Loss was originally a comic about games where the main female character suffers a miscarriage, but has since been referenced and altered to an unrecognisable mass that gets laughs. Honestly, I think I get the message, and it's actually kinda dope! When something goes viral, (In this case, a joke.) people will try to make more copies of that joke.
Yes indeed, yes indeed...
