I started playing the Game Pass version on PC yesterday and am using the Alienware AW3423DW. Much like what you have said here for the Xbox settings, I have HDR brightness as Bright, UI as Bright and HDR Gamma left as the default of 50. This seems to work well, and after a good session last night, there seemed to be enough details and not much black crush, which I had a few issues with on Horizon FW and Ghost of Tsushima. Found a few settings to remove film grain and running it in DSR seems to clear the IQ up nicely to enjoy the picture. I personally think it looks, runs and sounds great - though I did like the first one a lot.
I'm playing it on a mini led monitor with local dimming on (570 zones and 1000nits) but since I don't have the HGiG/DTM option the game at 50 gamma is WAY too dark, it might also be due to the local dimming that crushes shadows a little bit, so I'm happy with the gamma set to 70, at 50/55 is just way too dark
I’m not sure what driver he was using but if he recorded this video yesterday, then the day one driver hadn’t been released yet (Markus is in Australia). That may explain the occasional stutter as Daniel Owen noted the same thing in his video recorded prior to the day one driver releasing.
Fantastic settings/recommendations! In addition to using DTM and changing the in-game HDR brightness to “Bright,” the only other thing I’d add is to set “Fine Tune Dark Areas” to -3. The blacks in this game are very close to perfect, but not quite. You can tell by looking at the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen, or by looking at cave entrances. Setting FTDA to -3 gives you true OLED blacks without sacrificing any shadow detail 👍🏼
@@MrSmith17 Only the dark areas, and it’s a barely noticeable change. Just enough to get true OLED blacks. The rest stays bright thanks to DTM and using the in-game “Bright” setting.
Is that game too dark of do you just prefer a brighter picture? Why are you suppose too see every detail (clearly) in very dark areas? Are the shadow details actually crushed or is it just very hard to distinguish the dark details from each, because they are so close together in brightness? I really like how the game looks and the darkness really adds to the atmosphere. It makes sense that you don't see some details in very dark areas. --- Just tested a scene where I looked at the sun with a rock in front of it. The side of rock that isn't lit up by the low sun is dark. As soon as I increased the gamma to 60 I can see way more details on the rock, but it doesn't make sense in that scene. The unlit side of the rock shouldn't be this bright and detailed. It doesn't fit the scene at all.

I'm going to wait to play the game until this is fixed by the developers I think. I'd like to play it true to the producer's cinematic choice, but not at half of the peak brightness of my display. I don't know how long steam let's you return a game, but it said hdr capable. This was a lie. I'm tired of this "fix it after release" mentality
I have a general question for anyone and everyone who can answer: why are games rarely ever using the HDR system calibration on consoles (PS5/Xbox X)? is there some technical limitation or reason(s) that I just can't think of?
Sorry, how do you have the panel calibrated on your HDR console I have a Hisense. I haven't been able to get the HDR to look good. I use game mode
Great video and the recommended settings look great although I did find HGiG looked ok in a completely dark room
. Unfortunately the audio mix here is a massive step down from the first game and it also gets my vote for the most disappointing and underwhelming Dolby Atmos presentation I’ve heard to date on a game in recent years. I know that binaural headphones were their target but that’s no excuse for such a poor audio presentation when using an actual surround system.
Thanks buddy. I found the audio quality ok but I just a a simple 5.1 system. You are the expert when it comes to sound!
Did you change the audio setting from ‘headphones’ to ‘speakers’? Sounded terrible almost without centerchannel and wrong placement. After changing this I can say this audiotracks is one of the best I have ever heard (and I have a good system/receiver, 6 heights). Worth to check ;-)
@@andymeijer1117 i changed it and maybe that's the issue?
@@FilmrissGaming so du must also nie settings aendern in einem spiel?
Would you just recommend we just play in SDR?
No, HDR is way better and SDR is also very dark.
Hunched over people limping simulator.
The game is only eight hours. Most of the game got spoiled here.
This isn't a video game. Hellblade 2 is an UE5 walking simulator tech demo. So freaking boring!
The game is so boring
Don`t play it then.
This ponies are getting old and boring🥱
