We love hearing your suggestions for something you'd like us to put a GoPro on. Leave a comment and tell us!
Sam and Niko how ru not sponsored by go pro
Sam and Niko this might not work out but it you put it on a football or some other type of ball and played the sport with the go pro
Sam and Niko could you use a super fish eyed lens to get a wider shot with one camera
You guys should try using CaraVR and Nuke, it's designed for 360 stitching, but it should help blend the two cameras together, and uses vector distortions to correct for parallax differences between the cameras :D www.thefoundry.co.uk/products/cara-vr/
Sam and Niko I still think an RC Submarine would be really sick.
Also, have you guys considered drone racing? You're fairly experienced with using fps drones and very good with VR games...+ it has bit of a pod racing look to it.
The best shot in that whole video was the one at 0:11!
Imo, the speeding up and slowing down and the fact that the camera sat on the other and on the sword, so that you could see Wren, was what made it look better than all the other shots.
+
+
Even the beginning shots, your can really feel the hit of every swing. I think this could be used for something really interesting
MrFlolleable i agree 100%
Most definitely the most interesting shot.
honestly the opening looked cooler than the scenes the video was about.
Right? Could we see an entire duel like that?
The opening scene is the reason why that guy's not fired yet
@@smug1798 what are you talking about?
We need the entire fight like the op
I thought they were mounting the go pro at the end of the sword facing the person holding it
I just thought of a cool use of the go pro. Attach it to a pump action shotgun and film it's use through an apocalypse. It would be where, let's say, a flash light would be on the gun. Like, it passes from survivor to survivor. Maybe a scene of it post apocalypse and so on. Just a thought
That's a cool idea...
Yeah, but attach it to the actual pump action, not the barrel, so you have the sweet visual bonus of the barrel popping out of- and into frame
Yeah, that sounds like a solid plan. It would be interesting to see a story from the guns perspective. Not as a character, but as a tool
perhaps its a dropped gun that switches between famous protagonists and their respective stories.
Bingo. Like at the start would be the gun owner. Then to a bandit, then maybe the zombie turned bandit. Then to another survivor. That would be the best way for the story to work: from person to person
Honestly, the first shot was probably the coolest one, just the draw cut from the tip of the blade. I really hope you guys are going to make some sort of medieval video with these sword shots and that arrow shot from before.
"Hey Niko can we use your sword?"
Niko: Uhhhhhhh
*damaged bow flashbacks*
I'm going to say no
I remember they kept slamming his sword in the dirt from over swing. Haha
LOL
Have you seen the thumbnail it is recording it’s self
@@rynoX88 I was gonna say he was having Jake burying the sword in the dirt flashbackssss lmao. Even though it would have been a flash forward technically. He predicted having his sword buried.
GoPro should just give you guys free cameras for life at this point.
TheRealAlpha2 They make a big chunk of money from People like this
The shot at 0:13 is far better than the ones at the end of the video. You guys have to use this angle in a future video (the one at 0:13).
I totally agree
I felt the sword maker dying from here.
I also can already see the Genji Ult video coming
I need healing.
its a walmart sword, the only people dying are the sweatshop workers
Gonzo Stonefist you do realize the sword is just a cheap factory made katana right?
My heart broke when they tried to sharpen it on dry stone ;(
It was cool to see the process of how Wren got to the finished goal. My favorite angle was from the top of Katana at the start, haven't seen that before!!
i think you guys are too obsessed with the gopro thing....
.... and the results are AWESOME!
1:36 listen closly and you can hear the harry potter theme, each beat happened after every time the box hits
After reading this I heard it instantly, good catch
Ouh yeah
It took me a while to hear what you meant, but holy shit, you’re right. +1
haha nice
Wut?
I would like to see the GoPro sword revisited. The inward facing shot looks promising.
This is one of the reason why i love Corridor Digital so much. They always got create ideas to get new shots for their audience. Thanks for always bringing good content to us.
Mount a GoPro on a flamethrower! It would be perfect for a dragon video!
it would melt
This was amazing. I can't wait to see some more unique shots. I also appreciate that Sam and Niko let people experiment and test ideas.
To be honest Wren doesn't get enough respect for his work... He's always there getting last minute shots and pulling off all nighters to finish off videos. Meanwhile Niko get's the thumbnail, what for? What did Niko do to get the thumbnail instead of Wren?
+RustyCanadian wren was still filming the last shots when we had to snap the thumbnail. :P
I don't mind not being in thumbnails lol. It's not a big deal
but you're so handsome... tf bro
*because niko has better hair*
You know were just seeing the work Wren is doing here, not what Niko is doing in the background.
Here’s a little tip to sharpening with a stone. Either spit, or water down your stone, this allows you to glide across it, without chipping the blade. Also sharpen at a 45 degree angle.
7:08
''DO NOT go on the roof for any reason except emergency''
Is cutting with a sword an emergency?
When you're attacked by evil passive watermelons, it is...
That opening sequence was my favourite, hopefully a shot like that gets incorporated into the final product.
PUT A 360 CAMERA ON A SWORD!!
I think the initial shots with the GoPro on the tip of the blade and facing the user were the coolest.
Reminds me of the sledge operator video
oh yeah, that's actually a good idea for them to do :D
They could probably make it look even cooler ;)
Yaminramen only reason why I watched
You guys don't realise you just reinvented the action genre, srsly. Mark my words, this technique is going to show up in a blockbuster! plus that song at the end made me dance for hours!
I'm never a fan of comments about firing of people. It's just never funny to me. Not that I've ever worried about it but I've heard it said before.
Anyway great video as ever :)
If you add a mesh warp to each angle of the GoPro footage you can make the perspective shift cleaner. I used that trick to smooth out some stitching on 360 footage.
Why does Niko get to be on the thumbnail? He didn't let them use his katana, because....why? Because he was afraid of them scratching his "collector's item"? Katanas are one of the most embarrasing things to have if you're not gonna use it to get a cool shot of slicing things (which was what they were doing) using it. I'm glad it all worked out in the end. We got an awesome video AND Niko got to keep his "pussy magnet" unscratched and unbent.
+Pogocane Sam got me a nice katana that was forged in Japan for my birthday a few years back. Having practiced Kendo it was a gift I could appreciate. Citric acid stains the steel blade, so if the guys were to use it to chop fruit it would leave large dark stains on the metal. I like my few nice things to stay nice. Simple. -Niko
There's a thing called sentimental value.
You should invest in Renaissance wax. If it was traditionally forged Renaissance will protect very well with very minimal refraction to dull the shine on a mirror polish. A single application lasts a month, so one pot goes a long way, I've had mine for almost a decade now and I'm not even halfway through it.
This is museum quality stuff and not only do I highly recommend it but so do many top sword manufacturers, sword smiths and retailers.
thats called sam and niko also look at their channel banner its basically sam and niko vs the editors lol.
U know they cost thousands right >.>
this is why I love the sam and niko channel stuff you don't see like pre pro and goofy things like go pro on a sword so awesome guys keep this up
The Gladiator 2.0 with that Camera-mount would be insaneeeee
That was a fun experiment. Congrats on succeeding. Great job Wren for prototyping, and Nick for the BTS! Also good work Brett for helping.
Wouldn't it have been cooler to do slashes down (vertical chops) and have the cameras horizontally perpendicular to the sword rather than vertically?
There would be more motion in only one direction making stitching easier, and have a greater effect if you could split one of them directly in half, since the camera will slow down and stop showing two halves fly away from each other.
I think the only issue with your vertical chop was that there was no reference background to get your orientation and see the speed at which the sword was moving. If the shot was against a brick wall with windows, or something else that has discerning features other than a flat blue sky, I think that shot would be more successful and way cooler.
Kyle Li I think they want to do horizontal slices rather than vertical. Even if they did make it perpendicular for the horizontal slices, we wouldn't be seeing it from the swordsman's orientation. It would also be very "annoying" I guess to keep having the viewer seeing this orientation then that orientation. It's easier and better to keep it one
It's amazing rewatchig a lot of these, and how so many of the problems with old videos could easily be solved today. Like this could have easily worked with a 360 camera or 3D printing a rig for the GoPros. Time is the solver of all problems.
No! it had to be GoPro on a hot knife or GoPro on a Hydraulic Press
SIZZLE = SUBS
ez views
Thanks so much for running a very user-friendly and easy to navigate merch shop! It makes it a lot easier to fork over all my money
"If it's janky, embrace the jank" - Wren
at 8:40 when Jake says they aren't fired anymore Wren looks so disappointed haha like "i tried so hard..."
They did this in the King’s Man trailer!!
the fact that the camera in the thumbnail captures an image of the camera itself is amazing
You guys should use a 360 rig, so that you can get perspective of the sword or spin around and get the person swinging the swords perspective. Would be pretty sick.
Bryan Landry but thats too heavy dont you think?
They could use something like the Samsung 360 camera, it's really small. It's not super high res, but it still would be legit.
Bryan Landry oh that may work!
I like the set up at the very start the most.
1:42
Niko: I should've let them use my blade
I personally liked the angle when the GoPro was looking back at the sword holder. From 0:11 - 0:15 specifically. Nice work.
8:49 That moment when Wren looks like he belongs in The White Stripes
You guys are honestly the most fun channel on RUclips.
Go pro Shield Next maybe?
Wren has such a good attitude. No challenge he sets himself is impossible because he just does it. In the end you will always have some results that way and in the worst case you will know what to improve upon next time.
Awesome,, but why not shoot it on a greenscreen than add the background after, that would help a lot when stitching the video together.
Eqvaliser how would they record the background if it's in a green screen? It wouldn't be live then. Unless I'm misinterpreting what you're saying.
KhOrganization I think he means to completely remove the background. Then it might be easier to stitch it together without looking janky
0:11 the way he said,"when the camara mounted off the sword and cuts off." It fits perfectly like a song. Like I mean when he said, when the camara mounted of the. At that moment he said," sword! " The wind sound helps it and then he said, "CUTS OFF!" The wind sound helps it again
I can't stop repeating this thanks to you. Quite catchy after some repeat
"Embrace the jank" - Wren 2016
Cool video ! But I think having the gopro oriented towards the handle rather than the tip is better because it gives us info on positionning, wich gets me more into the fight, I feel I like it better that way!
Jake:Your not fired anymore
Me:THEY WERE FIRED BEFORE!?!!?!??
Wait a minute! This was my idea!! Awesome!!!
Thanks to everyone at Corridol Digital for this.
The kings man stole this idea and you did it getter
Like others have already said. The shot at 0:13 looked way cooler than the last shots.
Why are Wren's finger tips red? They look like ghoullie hands :P
I think it's Raynaud's phenomenon! Google it :) Or perhaps it's because of red stuff they put in the head! haha
Wouldn't the colours be the other way around? Lol I like the comparison though
the perspective at the beginning from the tip of the sword was the coolest looking imo
Why not use the Samsung VR camera and then crop out all the unnecessary stuff? Idk if you can do that.
+Bebo18 slow motion tops out at 60fps unfortunately.
Sam and Niko I think you should try it and see what happens lol
That intro was already one of the coolest sword action sequences ive seen
Wren is now Orochi
7:35 that was the best shot, the juice leaving the sword was beautiful
Ofcourse niko is in the thumbnail
His face is pretty much clickbait doe
I might have an idea than can help. Mod the handle so its longer, so you can place the gopro lower on the hilt and get a wider angle. Give it a nice crop and voila. It will be weird to strike but you'll have nice wideshots.
feel like Tarantino did something like this
I liked the first shots with the gopro only on the tip of the sword better.
But it was still such an amazing idea!
Keep this up Corridor!
Song at the end of vid pls
I like how Corridor has essentially created their own lore with the Clones and shit. Classic.
I don't know what Wren is paid but it's not enough, double that shit
Watching Wren doing aerobatics with the Katana was great... spin-offs maybe? :D
Go pro on a bullet
How ?
That will make the go pro be died
I think its cool to see how you guys make these crazy awesome shot work, I also like seeing Wren work his magic
go pro on shoes
One of the coolest shots was when the GoPro was facing the wielder as he "cut the guy's head off". You should repeat that!
I love the katana worshippers decrying the abuse to a prop mall katana.
I know right lol? We took an edge that was like 3 millimeters wide, and made it sharp enough to cut paper. On a super cheap sword.
I really enjoy these and hope you can work these great ideas into future projects. I am in love with the gopro sword shots and gopro cannon. I hope you can work these two together some day and make bank, wishing to the best on your journey to greatness
Swordsmiths everywhere just cringed to death....
Michael kaster or somebody knows how to sharpen a knive
Taking "don't run with scissors" to the next level. Corridor: the real pioneers
That was really enjoyable. Especially the "gore" shot, aka the one with just the red sludge.
its trippy seeing the sword stay in the same place
This channel needs more subscribers. It's so good!
You guys give me too many ideas to try. I’m already planning an camera arrow
I think one of the reasons the super cool double gopro thing rig is janky is because of the wide angle view, on the gopro 5 you can make it on to "linear" mode
PLS REPLY TO TELL WHAT U THINK
this is literally the coolest thing i've ever seen
The beginning shots were so much better with the camera on the tip.
"If it's janky, embrace the Jank". A true artist.
the beginning 20 sec looked perfect for how it was originally being described
Honestly cant get enough of these people!
awsome guys! killer shots for a action Film!!
You know the guy that cuts the stuff he's like really smart it's kinda cool
I love how the picture on the go pro in the thumbnail is just the thumbnail itself!!! :-D
I got an idea on how to blend them better. create a 3D scene with 2 projectors at the correct focal length and don't add any bluring.
put them into the perfect position and orientation as they resemble on the irl rig.
use a plane as a virtual screen and use a render camera to get the correct shot.
use filters like motion resemble and orientation retention to get the blur and use a 45% fadein and a 55% overlap.
haven't done something like this stiching for some time tho.
Writing in 2022 this is and was my favourite video ever! It would be cool if you guys could remake this video with the high frame rates of the gopro hero 10
What about splicing the 360rig and taking the arc, which gave you the most angle. Creating a more wider angle.
yeah, while the shots later in the video were super cool, I gotta say that the shots at the very beginning were the coolest IMO.
hahahaha Niko's sarcastic clap cracked me up
Great filming. What a job. 1 week. Thats passion Wish you a inspiring and fun week. best wishes from jan in Norway
I like how on the thumb nail the go pro has the image of the GoPro its self
What was the final song used, during the merciless slicing ;). I have checked the description but i couldn't find the exact song
Wren, why dont you try mounting a 360 camera like the small Samsung one at the hilt instead. Then pan around the shot in AE for a shot. So you dont have to stitch ot together. Not sure if that is a feasible use of 360 footage for a 2D shot but the odea came to me so i wanted to pass it on
Wren to successfully cut a melon and get it in frame for longer you could try mounting the 360 camera and simply cropping the flat version of the image to get a super wide shot, then keyframe it to counter the movement of the camera.
That's cool, but i was thinking, why not use one go pro and tilt it a little, so the blade is on left side ( like in 2 camera setup combined footage) i think that way you will have better quality shot ,and just slightly less debris.
