I like the shiny clean finish .i would love to put the very best audio caps in it. Put large cap an you use KT 77 for the L 34’s. What if caps are 50 year old Caps. I would put an EFI on the amp

I built an SCA-35 when I was in high school. Your video is an excellent and delightful discussion of this very fine vintage amplifier. I enjoyed the video immensely. Thank you for posting it. If you ever come across a Dynamo FM-3, please do a video on that. Dan.

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I just happen to love dynaco tube gear. The FM-3 is a gorgeous piece of equipment, pretty hard to come across these days but if I ever lay my hands on one, I sure won't miss the opportunity to document it on video. Thanks for the comment, that kind of thing really motivates us to create more videos.

Dennis: I bought a very clean SCA-35 off of ebay this week. Probably payed a bit much, but I wanted one with very good faceplate and cabinet cosmetics. This one had a modified power supply. Planning to take it back toward original configuration. But, I'll probably rewire it to use 6U8's instead of the 7199. It should arrive Monday. [beer-clink]

Dan : cool... I love those amps. Is the faceplate in good shape? that's a smart move bringing it back to original... the 6u8 is probably the best choice (it's very cheap so you can try and match pairs and sections). 6an8's are an excellent replacement as well. It's funny how you brought the 7199's up. I am, at this very moment, punching the chassis for a new project, an st 70 clone. I still haven't decided on the substitute for the 7199's yet. I have 4 6an8's and 25 ecf-80's (6bm8). I guess it'll be a long night matching tubes. I've had good luck with both. Anyhow... congratulations on your new Dynaco, hope you enjoy countless hours of listeningto her

Thank you. Cosmetics were like new. If the 7199's in this amp are running well, I'll do nothing. I did check the USA tube suppliers, and the 7199's are all NOS only, kind of rare, and they want US$70-80 each. The 6u8 and 6an8 are US$10-20 each. So, ...

thank you for the very informative video. I have one in storage that I'd like to get up and running. Can you put up a video about building an autoformer to run this and other older amps at 110 volts?

It’s usually just the caps, and some pot and switch cleaning too …. But those amps are pretty bulletproof and they age very well
