I live in the SF Valley, and the homeless problem is making businesses close early, or close altogether.
I was driving up Lankershim Bl, near Burbank B., this morning and a homeless woman was standing stark naked on the sidewalk, moving her crap around.
It's not the first time that someone has been exposing themselves out in the broad daylight, no matter where.
    It's impossible.
I'm sick of the idiotic lip service this local and state gov't pays to the problem.
I'm taxed into poverty myself because of the money they waste on nothing, and not FORCING people into care. Not FORCING people back to whatever state or country dumped them on CA.
It's criminal how useless our expensive gov't is.

The homeless encampment adjacent to Virgil Middle School provides critical real-life lessons to supplement the students in-class education. The site of the encampment is designated as a No Camping zone by L.A. City ordinance. The semi-permanent structures exist without building permits and represent numerous building and safety code violations, including federal A.D.A. violations for completely blocking the pedestrian path. The campers draw unmetered electricity stolen from the streetlights which are funded by tax assessment on the neighboring properties.

The students at Virgil Middle School clearly see that, contrary to what they are taught in the classroom, there is no benefit to following the law. In fact, disregarding the law is very rewarding. They also learn the most important attribute for becoming an elected city councilmember is unbridled hypocrisy.

THE NEWS LIKES TO PICK AND CHOOSE AND EDIT THESE ARTICLES TO PROVIDE RATINGS WORTHY BROADCAST/ THEY PLAY LOOSE WITH THINGS LIKE FACTS AND FIGURES. TRUTH IS. THERE ARE NO WHERE FIOR THE MAJORITY OF THESE PEOPLE TO GO. AS HOUSING HAS BECOME A COMMODITY, IT IS NOT GOING TO GET ANY BETTER ANY TIME SOON, INFACT, LOOK FOR IT TO JUST GET WORSE,. THE CITY IS ONLY THROWING MONEY AT THE OUTCOME OF IGNORING ITS RESIDENTS AND SPENDING AT A RATE THAT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE FOR LONG. HEADLINE MAKING ACTIONS THAT PROVIDE FODDER FOR REELECTION. THERE ARE BETTER ANSWERS OUT THERE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BUT IT STARTS WITH UNDERSTNDING THE PEEOPLE AFFECTED. HAVE A SHRED OF EMPATHY COULD NOT HURT. Making them somebodies elses problem isnt a solution for anyone. Sure you may consider it a bandaid, but it will make a bigger problem. The real problem is how all of us as a society view and handle homelessness. We want to believe all people have initiative or self drive to better themselves but the fact there is much more to this problem as a society. We have lots of opportunities, but trying to teach them that mindset and helping them is much harder In today's California.

You know how much apartment cost in California compared to anywhere else in the united states. There a reason why California has the bulk of the United States Homeless population. In Tennessee a house goes for 300 -500 thousand. In LA it goes for over 1 million dollar. Its fucking insane. Than you wonder why the minute someone loses there job there on the fucking street. And i don't think shipping people to desert. Is going solve anything. Your just transporting the problem somewhere else and hoping it goes away. Well its not. We need solutions, not fucking Scapegoating.

I heard of a fellow who has single-handedly prevented a near-certain homeless crisis in his vulnerable neighborhood for several years now by never letting the first one ever get established and comfortable there. As soon as one begins to set up residence, he waits till the first time the new "resident" leaves their hastily established homestead, and then swoops in with his truck, loads it all up - tent, blankets, shopping cart, garbage and anything else - and immediately delivers it all straight to a random dumpster in another zip code. The "tenant" eventually returns, hangs around dumbfounded for a bit, and then is never seen in the immediate area again. Apparently he is viewed as a Robinhood-type hero by all of his neighbors.

Yes, and housing in general. Doesn't have to be big ginormous Gothic things either! People who are ill need a home like atmosphere. They need a place to live and a place easily cleaned. They need a place of hope where they can heal and get better, part of it is also learning good habits how to take care of themselves and their own space.
A place to learn marketable skills so when they get well. They can go confidently out into the world and get a job that they can support theirselves at least partly, and they can learn how to keep up their own small apartment and pay their own bills. Take their own medications if necessary, and just live life.
What is going on now is wrong! I promise you when you see disgusting depths of human depravity like we do now on our city streets. You better believe somebody somewhere is just as deep in 💩💩💩 because it's about the transfer of the 💵💵💵. Nobody gets a whole lot of 💵💵💵 unless someone else is getting SCREWED!

Their families have been out of contact with them and do not know whether their alive or not. It's very sad.
There are a few guys who kinda follow some of them but all in all I don't think they last more than 5-7 years on the streets a few cases of some who are long time street people but not addicts have been doing it for as long as 20 years.
They migrate as the weather changes they seem to have a certain few they know and associate with. It is their lifestyle they choose.
Most of the homeless are simply drug addicts and need to be in a program. Family has tried everything and just had to stop.
Thing is until they want to get off drugs they will not. You can put them in treatment but they will go right back to doing whatever they were doing before until they are ready to quit most will just die in their disease. It is apalling and it is the price we are paying for open borders. You cannot flood first Mexico with Chinese opium, then America with the Mexican Cartel!😂 its the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life! And Biden or whoever the heck is running the country, made a deal with Iran to get our hostages back and then in return we have to release several billions if their funds apparently we've had frozen because they are a terrorist country. So now they're going to have a lot more money freed up to help Russia out with some weapons from China to attack the Ukrain with. That Biden has been breaking the backs of Americans to fund. The creative solution is an old one. Build more centers with beds for the homeless on a gigantic scale like for 2,000 people. All those abandon or empty buildings on the away from down town areas or the outskirts of these towns. Build a gigantic homeless apt buildings & rent out according to income. Take those so-called "homeless funds" & build just basic apartments, nothing fancy, just 1 to 2 bedroom apts with a bathroom, kitchen, living room, washer & dryer & they don't have to be huge, just basic. It can be done bc there are so many millions of dollars of homeless money. They can also open up those closed down prisons & make them into homeless centers too for those that are criminals so they can have permanent housing. Be creative bc the first is to get them out of the streets & into a center, then into an apt building. Hook them up to resources & slowly, they will be introduced into society again. Or, if on SSD or SSI, they can have permeant housing in this 2,000 bed apt building. If you are a criminal, you can't get into one of these buildings but there should be a center for just criminals. These buildings need to be just for California people only bc the funds are for California only. People shouldn't come here seeking the American dream bc it doesn't exist here in California.
