My theory is they are clones that have the memories of the real characters. The memories they get with their squad after jumping off are uploaded to the organization's servers and when the teammates grab the banner, they make a new clone with the memories of the former body right before it dies and sends it back to the arena.
I think that there are still non-legends fighting in the arena because that would explain how there can be 60 people fighting in a huge arena while there are currently only 11 legends. I do think that you are might be right with the WWE theory but it might be the case that they wear protective armors and when they '''die'' they actually are just unable to fight just like with lasergaming. That might also explain the specific sounds you hear when you get downed/killed!

@@7evenZee ? Isn't this question messed up? It'd make more sense if you'd say "If it's *not* a simulation how do people have special power and abilities?". And I think some of the abilities like Octane's jump pad are limited by Apex's rules. I mean, what exacly are we waiting for? For that jump pad to teleport into our inventory?
In the Titanfall games, there was something called "Regeneration." Mechanically, it was how you reset after hitting max level. But in the lore, it seemed that it was a way for aging bodies to be "regenerated" at the potential cost of some significant memory loss. The mind of the Pilot set to be regenerated seemed to be scanned and replicated, and then a BIOS was used to reboot the Pilot's consciousness in their newly regenerated body. It may not be dissimilar to Simulacrums like Ashe and presumably Revanant. It sounds mysterious and horribly expensive, but if the Apex Games really were an interplanetary sport put on for millions, even billions of viewers, there's no doubt that the Syndicate could afford to preserve their Legend celebrities with a modified Regeneration process not unlike cloning. And given the type of place the Outlands is, it may not be surprising that potentially dangerous technology like regeneration, and bloodsports like Apex are both waived ethically.
Elias Mienshao I think I agree with this. Since, even though this is in the titanfall universe, it’s a while after the games we play. So I think that the regeneration by the time the apex games were created is so far advanced that they were able to use it to clone the fighters endlessly but having the original fighters in some of pods.
@@WxlfmanOfficial I don't necessarily think its canon that there are clones vs clones, but its certainly possible. If nothing else they could be restricted to just one at a time. I feel like this is why Crypto was so careful with sneaking and hacking his way into the Apex roster.
Elias Mienshao I wasn’t saying clones in a sense of a bunch of them running around but the idea of the banner being used as a source can allude that they can endlessly res pawn a body from the original of the fighter by way of banner information. The clones can constantly be made because the bodies are possible somewhere in stasis while the games are going on and there conscious is being funneled into the banner cartridge.
You beat me too it! I agree with this 100% And it still goes along with the legends not wanting to “for real” die, as well as the syndicate getting fan favorites. Some of the finishers and scenes seem too gruesome to be fake deaths... but in titanfall you could regenerate 100+ times with the same consciousness even if you were a “milita” technically. So with the wealth from the games and years of technology improvements this makes perfect sense to me.
My theory: the Respawn cards don’t really expire they just can’t be used until some password or something is put in, so after the match the cleanup crew or something pick up the cards.
@@nickzzz4685 the pilots in titanfall have their minds downloaded onto a device so when they die they are given a new body but remember everything, there’s also robot pilots so that supports the theory

@@nobleradical2158 It may be what is happening here, if you take into account that this is 20 years after the war. @@nobleradical2158 it’s possible that they repeat the same process as with a stimulicum, just with a clone. Just shove the digitized brain into the home-cooked meat-bag.
I actually had a similar theory to this, in Titanfall 1 and 2 the “prestige” system was called Regen, and the commonly accepted theory is that this rebuilds your body into that of your prime. Primarily used by pilots who have faced a lot of combat and are beginning to lose their physical edge. I think that after one passes through the Apex qualifiers that Crypto mentions in his message to his foster mother and becomes one of the big Legends like those we play, they are given “insurance” in the form of always being able to regen free of cost. Blisk knows how to make a profit and is will to do whatever to make profit, and it’s not profitable to let Mirage die to a .50 cal to the skull. This would explain not only how the legends can seemingly never die in the games, but also never have any negative consequences or scars from death
This theory makes the most sence. Like if combine it with what merchant was saing it really starts to put things in perspective. And if they had the tech in titanfall then obviously the tech has been upgraded in the last 90 plus years to the point wer it can be instantaneous when sumone gets revived
I’ve always just assumed that every legend has some device with a single point of death protection in the same way as revenants totem and they get teleported to the ship when they “die”. Their items are then shot down in a handy little box.
@@raccoonvgaming4683 that makes a lot of sense... I’m sure it was just a joke but it really does make sense. Octane has a quote “get back to the respawn chamber so we can do that again” maybe it’s not a simulation but the legends are like holograms being controlled via a VR chamber.
I guess revenant is the only legend who ACTUALLY dies in the games cause of all the warehouses full of new bodies for him to transfer his conciousness to
My theory is they are clones that have the memories of the real characters. The memories they get with their squad after jumping off are uploaded to the organization's servers and when the teammates grab the banner, they make a new clone with the memories of the former body right before it dies and sends it back to the arena.
I always believed that the Legends we play as in-game just canonically survive each match. The rest of the 49 players are challengers that want to make a name for themselves, not yet reaching Legend status.
The thing is there’s always only three winners at the end of a match. And in the trailers it shows ALL characters dropping in. So canonically, it means that some would’ve died .
hellopeople that still wouldn’t account for the fact that there has to be a winner in the Apex games. If all characters forfeit and continue to do so that wouldn’t be a very entertaining or “legendary” game. Also there is some story consistency in the trailers, as was the case with Revenant killing Forge.
It could just be as simple as a teleport back to the dropship just before they die, kinda like a death totem but its a dropship where you go inside the regeneration chamber and heal before the next fight.
Banners, literaly banners. They clearly hae respawn tech, so the legends wear soming that allows them to be respawned after death. Why does nobody talk about this
I think when a legend dies a box warps around them leaving behind their loot, then the box instantly transports their body to a medical staff to be quickly revived it's a theory
Plot twist: The mirage we play isn’t the real mirage. It’s one of his decoys and Mirage has never played in the Apex games Okay I’ve got a new theory: None of the characters are actually playing. They are all watching decoys of themselves play. Or they be playing PC
@@David-fh2vt That actually has some merit to it. You need opposition to become a star. Mirage is the caricature of all of the other legends egos. If se successfully acted out everyone else, he would himself become way bigger celebrity. If other "characters" still became more popular, well whatever, they're still him. And all of this is possible without ever doing anything himself. Everyone on the field, even himself, is just another mirage decoy.
In the first trailer all the legends shown are either the stock skin legend or they are in a legendary skin. Bloodhound is in his plague doctor skin and normal bloodhound is seen at the end. We also see caustic and blackheart. Lifeline is seen in a legendary skin when pathfinder is getting his 10 kills. The reason this is important is in cautic's loading screen "Blackheart's rage", caustic is being asked about criminals dressing up as legends and they are referring to the image of "blackheart". We can then infer that the different skins imply different people. So I think that legends do get cloned, but only for other games or being respawned. The original legends are the stars, and the others sort of act as cannonfodder for the games.
I think so too, I also think that theoretically, the actual legends don’t really fight, but just get all the credit from their clones or they just transfer their consciousness to a clone body if they presumably are fatally injured
My theory is that inside the dropship there is something similar to Revenants Death Totem. At the start of each game the legends use it and then drop. When they die they get teleported back to the dropship similar to Revenants ultimate. I think the respawn beacons just tell the dropship to come there and the banners that you can take from a dead teammate tell the people on the dropship who is getting respawned so they know who to let out of the dropship.
yeah it looks like he's playing the titanfall gauntlet on the top monitor, some racing (or open-world game) on the bottom right monitor, and probably apex on the bottom left monitor
I have another theory: I think they do actually kill eachother and theres one guy that goes around the map, picks up everyones banners at the end of the game and respawns everyone who died Edit: Now we just need to figure out how the banners and dropships work
I just assumed there was a sort of implant embedded in each legend, that essentially uploaded them to some type of grid, and once they turn to banners if they aren't picked up they'd be "regenerated" back at base. Or alternatively if the banner IS picked up, they get regenerated in the arena.
The Legends' bodies are cloned (not biologically cloned, but cloned atom for atom, as if copied and pasted, excluding the brain) into mindless, lifeless avatars of themselves void of consciousness, like an empty shell. These avatars cannot feel pain, but feel where pain would be experienced. The Legends are hooked up to a machine that can project their consciousness into their avatars and then proceed to kit up in all of their real world gear and fight in the arena. If these avatars die, are out of bounds or voluntarily forfeit out of the arena, the Legend's consciousness is disconnected from the avatar and they awaken in the consciousness projecting machine. CONCLUSION: *The Legends are NOT fighting in a simulation but are fighting in the real world though their avatars.*
I thought as a security measure they were forcefully teleported but only them and none of their gear leaving it behind as you get better in the re-spawn station.
Just an idea, in gabralters back story they mention that some of his friends DON’T return from the Apex games, in other words his Friends died in the Apex games
That us supported by the theory though because this was essentially a deal between the legends, or it was turned wwe esk after the war. Gibis talking about mid war.
More evidence towards the building of the Legend's personalities would be how in WWE, some wrestlers are built up as villains in their own ways, which could be the real world equivalent of caustic and revenant
I think that “Legends” have immunity and can’t be killed but get evacuated. In one of Gibraltar’s loading screens, it states that he’s almost killed Pathfinder but he survived. If Gibraltar didn’t kill Pathfinder, how did the game end? I believe that if you have the “Legend” status, before dying you are rescued by the dropship and taken back to wherever. The rest of the other players in the match are just mercenaries without special abilities.
Thought about it for an hour and came up with this theory. The Legends being chosen in the games are Avatars. The personality of each individual Legend is uploaded into a system that then we as the player go and choose based on an identity that matches our own. The lore surrounding each Legend through each season are events that happened decades prior to the events we are playing now. So the syndicate is just recreating the events that the real legends once upon a time actually experienced. This explains why so many of the same legend can be present on the battlefield at the same time. No legend actually dies in the games because they aren’t actually there. Each trailer for each event is a flashback. That gives us a back story on why the particular event was chosen. I believe Crypto and Wraith are the anomaly in all this. They are the only 2 who actually have access to the games in the present. The wraith you play with is the Avatar, the voice you hear is the real wraith. As for Crypto I think he is trying to intentionally sabotage the games. When he hacked Kings Canyon he placed himself into the system as an Avatar and forced the games to take place in World’s Edge so he could change the outcome of said events. Just a theory.....
That would at least explain the " i think someone is targeting you " thing wraith sometimes says to herself. She's not the type to talk about herself in third person.. unless she is actually a seperate person
When I think of gaming merchant I think of weapon tiers, helpful tips, legend tiers, news, leaks, fun videos the occasional good laugh. Blessed man thank you!!!!
my theory is that they have this like "device" that somewhat re-spawns them back at the base or ship or whatever after they are eliminated, kinda like Revenant's death totem. It basically teleports them back to base unscathed
When they die, they are uploaded to the banner which teleports them back to a base (somewhere) and if another legend (teammate) gets the banner, it ready's a respawn ship in case they get revived, the ship then warps to the arena which you can see in game. hoever if the teamate doesn't get the banner, it runs out of energy and cannot call the dropship to the respawn location, so the legend is not dead, he/she is just sitting on the base and spectating. MY THEORY probally not true.
@@funkypants7297 The body is cloned back somewhere else in the respawning chamber. For all the corpses in the arena, I'd think most of them get disinterested by the ring, and what few domt get cleaned up by clean-up crews
Ok yeah so pretty much the banner is a teleportation device which activates when the holder is in a critical condition and teleports them to a base which heals them. The banner cards are also used in the games to represent a way to bring them back when inserted into a beacon. It’s called a beacon as it sends a message to base telling them to send the legend back into the game Edit: banners expiring are only for added excitement and just mean that the message won’t be sent to base.
They can still kill each other, but bodies that are killed are probably disposable in some way. And revenant probably enjoys killing the same people in different ways. Extends the suffering.
With revent in the game and how his ult works it could be a large scale version of that built by Hammond robotics that lets the legends “come back to life”
maybe, but Hammond robotics is most likely suuuper shut down since the IMC lost the war. Even if Hammond survived that I can't think why they would invest so much into a fake blood sport run by a greedy mercenary

It's good to have some heads up knowledge otherwise to a guy coming back to first person shooter in a 10+ years and new the the BR genre this could have easilly been a No-No due to complexity for me. @@Natdaprat it just doesn't look like blood hound to me but still everyone killing each other in ss3 trailer and they still keep coming back i mean bangalore die like 2 time in the same trailer
My theory:they actually get shot with real bullets and get knocked out when their life runs out .that healthbar dissent actually show their actual remaining life,it's like laser tag you get hit u get taken out of the game .except the legends can get hit multiple times and it's actual bullets .but they don't get get hit enough to get killed ,they get hit enough to hurt badly and be taken out of commission.when they leave the arena they are healed and most likely monitor their teammates on a screen.when their teammates get the banner and respawn them .they are already healed to they can be taken back into the fight
I was thinking about how it wud so easy to make a Apex Legends movie. It could be based in the the Real World and in the Titanfall universe. Imagine the story is based on Wraith being from different dimensions. And all the different skins and types of legends are from different universes. And the Apex Games are their purpose in life, much like Wreck It Ralph. And the antagonists of the film? Over powered and extremely dangerous squads who are strangely more powerful than other squad (this will represent all the hackers in the game.) I would watch this.
@@mariusmeiser8360 weeelll its sad u wud use Into the Spiderverse for an example considering there are so many better movies that revolves around different dimensions. The best example wud be a cross between Wreck it Ralph in regards to the characters knowing they are a part of a game and the Mortal Kombat 11 game with different versions of the fighters from different dimensions fighting each other.
In one of Octane’s voicelines in a season 3 event he says “see you in the respawn pod” or something along those lines. Suggesting that their is some sort of technology that can bring people back to life
Gaming Merchant is all round meaningful Apex Legends videos. No straight-up gameplay unless it's to show something. Be it lore, leaks, tips, I expect to see it from you
I think when the legends “die” they really just get critically wounded and then immediately get teleported with phase shifting tech to a medical post and then are healed and if they get respawned they’re simply brought back on the ship
This is the way. There's officially no canon answer to respawning but one of the writers, Tom Casiello, said that he likes to headcanon for himself that death is often closer to near-death. Someone like Caustic or Revenant will kill-kill you for good but someone like Pathfinder won't go fatal in his attacks. If you are killed for good, you're dead. If you manage to not die permanently, you'll get teleported away and healed, which is the normal way to lose a match. Remember though that there still isn't a canonical answer as the writers don't want to focus on that aspect. People's headcanons, sans clones and simulations are acceptable
HUGE BREAKTHROUGH: THERE IS AN OCTANE QUIP THAT SAYS "Why don't you go warm up in the respawn chamber so we can do that again!?" There is clearly some kind of chamber legends get teleported to by...Loba's teleport tech? Or maybe Rev's totem (makes sense because Hammond has Apex connections through Blisk, aka they can influence the Games in some way, the tech they gave revenant could be recreated into each legend. And when you "die" from totems you get sent back.) Maybe the regeneration Octane uses (we don't know where it came from) is put in the chamber, but Octane's chamber may get extra for his passive.
Many questions: Crypto's finisher he takes a USB drive from the legends, what is this? Also Crypto himself said he's not in for the money or the fame. Also Mirage's tech was designed to "protect" him
THATONEOTHER Guy blood splatters when you get shot? Getting your neck snapped? Throwing knife to the forehead? Literal disintegration? I don’t think the armour protects against those last three.
In a couple of the cinematics, such as the December holiday themed one they mention a respawn chamber. Octane says a line in that cinematic episode after killing lifeline "You will warm up in the respawn chamber". So the Apex games has the ability to bring people back from death with these chambers and the legends respawn cards hold the consciousness of the legend to use to bring back the person with their memories up until the point of death. In the case of revenant, they have multiple bodies as shown when they brought in Loba. Sorry if you have explained this in a newer video already.
What if they experimented on wraith so they could take every person from other dimensions to use them in this slaughter this explains why there could be two different Bangalores I. On place and why killing one doesn't kill the other (that would be timeline related). Perhaps they place the memories of the normal characters into the fakes so they are technically the same person and this would also explain why they would never run out of legends because there a infinite dimensions.
I think that when a legend is about to die they have a “health bar” which is displayed on a screen in front of the people monitoring the apex games. Therefor when the health at gets to zero the legends are “dead” but really they get teleported back to the transport and all their loot stays for the next team. Which explains why the drop ship has rooms and looks like a house on the inside because all the legends stay there 24/7 even when they “die” they just go back to the drop ship “house”.
In mortality field would you bring them back to life every time when their partner puts them on that little cell phone thing and jack the man to that ship
In my head cannon, before they enter the games, they enter a stasis pod/chamber that projects their consciousness onto a clone or a simulacrum so while in the game their actual bodies are stored away, while their conscious self is participating actively in the games. When they die in the arena, the banner is their consciousness that has a safeguard built in it. After certain time passes, if not respawned, they just get booted back to their original body. If they do get respawned, the banner transfers their consciousness into a new clone/simulacrum and they get another chance. It might be crazy but its what i believe is cannon, until lore states otherwise. This concept of using pods to send consciousness to another being has been done in science fiction beforehand so its believable for me.
the legends probably just sign a contract, export their bodies and memories to a computer for cloning (respawning), and play the apex games like normal, knowing that they'll live again after they die apex legends are in the sci-fi era so it's really no surprise if they can actually just create clones to respawn someone proof they have respawn technology is the obvious "Respawn Beacon" and "Respawn Banner" system
So if u go to cryptos quip wheel there is a sentence that says “We are all just data waiting to be deleted” what if each character has a data and when they just respond putting the data in each time ?🤷♂️
I think the last two legends give us all the clues we needed: The fighters in the arena are robot avatars of the real legends, the legends don't know what's happening, they are in a kind of comma or something. Revenant is the same tech used as an assassin ( its malfunctioning bc they tried to erase the personality) and Loba found the factory of avatars. Another clue: a lot of cyborg skins.
Maybe when they are “dead” (I’ll say below 40% real HP) they enter a phase shift and they either get teleported or they walk to a safe-zone with the assistance of crew. And since time travel is possible in the titanfall universe maybe they send the death box back in time to the exact time the legend dies.
When a legend die I noticed they do a 'time out' sign with their hand, then body disappear and death box pops out. I think when they do the 'time out' sign, they teleport back to lobby to get for recover and medical care if needed. Or they switch the legend with the death box. It make sense because that way they can respawn as well as live to participate in another game.
Well also crypto’s sister decrypted the site and could rig who the next winner would be so u know it’s fake because they already know who is gonna win next
My theory is that the regen tech used on pilots during the war has been perfected or at least gotten a lot better. Where as during the war it would upload you to a new body but you'd lose all your muscle memory and such, they have either found a way to keep that intact or just somehow reupload it to the new bodies afterward.
anybody else have a better explanation? I'd love to hear your theories! Or come share them with me on my live stream! - www.twitch.tv/thegamingmerchant

I agree with this alot. This is probably also the reason you are able to bring back your teamates with their banner card
I agree with this 100%
And it still goes along with the legends not wanting to “for real” die, as well as the syndicate getting fan favorites.

The thing is there’s always only three winners at the end of a match. And in the trailers it shows ALL characters dropping in. So canonically, it means that some would’ve died .
Caleb it was shown that some participants can forfeit, to not die. And the trailers aren’t canon.

I thought it was more like clones, because the first trailer has multiples of legends. And we know they can transfer minds because of revenant
Yea. I saw something about them being clones when the game came out. I thought it was an official thing.
@@dr.diabetes2915 this makes more sense honestly
I think so too, I also think that theoretically, the actual legends don’t really fight, but just get all the credit from their clones or they just transfer their consciousness to a clone body if they presumably are fatally injured
Last time I checked you can’t clone a robot however I could just be a remote controlled drone (like crypto’s drone)

This is what I was thinking if this isn't true then why can you be Respawned
Draven Ripley possible cloning.
And i also had a thought that wraith and crypto are sabotaging the games altogether
That would at least explain the " i think someone is targeting you " thing wraith sometimes says to herself. She's not the type to talk about herself in third person.. unless she is actually a seperate person

my theory is that they have this like "device" that somewhat re-spawns them back at the base or ship or whatever after they are eliminated, kinda like Revenant's death totem.

Ok yeah so pretty much the banner is a teleportation device which activates when the holder is in a critical condition and teleports them to a base which heals them. The banner cards are also used in the games to represent a way to bring them back when inserted into a beacon. It’s called a beacon as it sends a message to base telling them to send the legend back into the game
Edit: banners expiring are only for added excitement and just mean that the message won’t be sent to base.

Many questions:
Crypto's finisher he takes a USB drive from the legends, what is this?

So the Apex games has the ability to bring people back from death with these chambers and the legends respawn cards hold the consciousness of the legend to use to bring back the person with their memories up until the point of death. In the case of revenant, they have multiple bodies as shown when they brought in Loba. Sorry if you have explained this in a newer video already.
But how come rev and ash are simulacrums if they can simply resurrect you
Arter the bird technically died. And now he’s the bird
Okay I know this is a year old but aren’t the games a simulation similar to the Gauntlet at the beginning of TF2
I always thought the syndicate people just used the respawn machines to bring them back after the match
"Hero's get remembered, but Legends never die"
I think that when a legend is about to die they have a “health bar” which is displayed on a screen in front of the people monitoring the apex games. Therefor when the health at gets to zero the legends are “dead” but really they get teleported back to the transport and all their loot stays for the next team. Which explains why the drop ship has rooms and looks like a house on the inside because all the legends stay there 24/7 even when they “die” they just go back to the drop ship “house”.
In mortality field would you bring them back to life every time when their partner puts them on that little cell phone thing and jack the man to that ship
Honestly I just watch it so you say cheerio at the end
In my head cannon, before they enter the games, they enter a stasis pod/chamber that projects their consciousness onto a clone or a simulacrum so while in the game their actual bodies are stored away, while their conscious self is participating actively in the games. When they die in the arena, the banner is their consciousness that has a safeguard built in it. After certain time passes, if not respawned, they just get booted back to their original body. If they do get respawned, the banner transfers their consciousness into a new clone/simulacrum and they get another chance.
It might be crazy but its what i believe is cannon, until lore states otherwise. This concept of using pods to send consciousness to another being has been done in science fiction beforehand so its believable for me.
the legends probably just sign a contract, export their bodies and memories to a computer for cloning (respawning), and play the apex games like normal, knowing that they'll live again after they die
apex legends are in the sci-fi era so it's really no surprise if they can actually just create clones to respawn someone
proof they have respawn technology is the obvious "Respawn Beacon" and "Respawn Banner" system
So if u go to cryptos quip wheel there is a sentence that says “We are all just data waiting to be deleted” what if each character has a data and when they just respond putting the data in each time ?🤷♂️
I think he knows hes a videogame character and hes breaking the 4th wall.
It a metaphor
@Vtx Comet
*Respawn not respond

I think the last two legends give us all the clues we needed: The fighters in the arena are robot avatars of the real legends, the legends don't know what's happening, they are in a kind of comma or something. Revenant is the same tech used as an assassin ( its malfunctioning bc they tried to erase the personality) and Loba found the factory of avatars. Another clue: a lot of cyborg skins.
Maybe when they are “dead” (I’ll say below 40% real HP) they enter a phase shift and they either get teleported or they walk to a safe-zone with the assistance of crew. And since time travel is possible in the titanfall universe maybe they send the death box back in time to the exact time the legend dies.
the Legends never die because they are made by Respawn Entertainment.
Maybe the show hosts go around and collect everyone’s beacons at the end?
Its what i thought aswell like they send a team to pick up everyones banner to respawn them at HQ or a base..
My theory is that the regen tech used on pilots during the war has been perfected or at least gotten a lot better. Where as during the war it would upload you to a new body but you'd lose all your muscle memory and such, they have either found a way to keep that intact or just somehow reupload it to the new bodies afterward.
