I have a friend who knows someone with a farm and that person started raising a few ducklings. He would a small portable TV in the cage and he plays duck videos all day. Now that are adults and live in their own barn type hen house and he put a TV in there that runs during the day. I was over there one time not too long ago and he brought me over to their hen house and they are sitting there watching the TV. I was like, "No, come on now". He laughs and says, "Watch this". He turns off the power to the TV. After a few seconds they start making noise and freaking out. One jumps down and walks over to him quacking and just seemed a little distressed. He turns the power back and all of a sudden, silence. And the duck that jumped down goes back to watching the TV. Its absolutely hilarious!

I rescued a peking, I named her waddles, from a lake. She had a fracture leg and no one wanted to help. I caught her and she had 2 surgeries, but couldn't have her fracture fixed so i kept her. I bought her a girl friend Bella, to keep her company. We moved and i brought my girls with me to another state. I have had them now for 3 years. They have the best life, any duck would be jealous of them. They make the best pets, i love them.

I raised a trio of these back when I was 20. When you look in the frozen meat case "Long Island Duckling" is this breed. Probably why they grow so big so fast. I currently have Peruvian Araucana chickens in black-copper and there's a strain of white in there - I find the hawks seem to zero in on the white birds easier than my blacks. I usually have some brush-pile or obstacle for them to run under when there's an "air raid". Maybe get a cattle panel cut into two 8' sections, and bend it top-to-bottom around a tree to make half a hoop and lay them in your yards or any graze you let them into - cover with tree-branches... give them air-raid shelters.

And then you took the eggs and wrapped them in bubble wrap and shipped them. How can they be hatched when they reach their destination? Can you please tell me how that works? Thank you.

we added 2 baby pekins and 10 baby Indian runners this year...they have spent the last 8 weeks together...Im not sure they realize they are different, other than the male pekin seems to think he is king of the pond. Next week they are leaving the juvenile run, as we call it the day care center, and in with the adult ducks and chickens...hate doing it, but its necessary ..

This is my first time to raise ducks and geese and I enjoy it. I am going to try and train them to go inside a sheaf at night. My question is that hasn’t anyone got high tech on the fight against owls and hawks. I would think that a motion sensor with some type of laser light that picks up the birds swooping down and then it trigger a loud noise and at night a flashing light. I just wonder if anything like that has been made but I haven’t seen it. Sadly to many duck get attacked. On the ground it’s pretty easy to stop predictors using an electric fence.
