I just dropped off my Babolat Pure Drive Plus at the stringer this afternoon to be strung with Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable. Can't wait to put this combo to the test! The Ultra Cable is supposed to be the heavyweight champion of SPIN, and the Babolat Pure Drive Plus is a spin monster in its own right already! Stay tuned for an update!
@Walter… Play your normal game with Ultra Cable… don’t try to overspin the ball. Weiss Cannon recommends you string the racquet 1.5 kilos lower than normal. Pure Drive is a stiff racquet, hopefully you will not experience high vibrations on contact 😄🎾
@@thetennisjones3728 Thanks for your advice. I took it and made sure I didn't try to overspin the ball (although the desire is there!). I think your advice was spot on. I like this string so much I had my Prince Phantom 97P strung with it as well. Same excellent result! I really love Weiss Cannon Ultra Cable in both these totally different racquets. Next I think I'm going to have it put in my Phantom 93P 18x20. I want to find out how much spin I can get from a small head size, dense string pattern racquet. Thanks again for the advice. 👍
I recently switched to this string, this string alone bumped me up half a rating. Love everything about it, incredible spin, the right amount of power, I love the feel, it even makes the perfect sound when hitting the ball. Strung it at 55 lbs. My tennis pard was so impressed with my immediate improvement he tried them, didn't like them (at 49 lbs). He immediately went back to his beloved HyperG.
@Paul… I am glad it worked out for you. Stringing Ultra Cable at 55 lbs (25kgs) is wicked tight/hard for Ultra Cable. Weiss CANNON doesn’t recommend you string the racquet that tight. I wish you good luck, hopefully you and your PT do not develop a relationship 😀🎾
@@thetennisjones3728 Yes, the package says to go 1.5 kilos/3.3 pounds lighter, I went the opposite, from 54 lbs to 55 lbs. I don't know why I did that, but it worked for my game and racquet. PT = physical therapist? Ha. Yeah, it may just be working perfectly for me because of my racquet, a ProKennex 15 Q+ -- 15 grams of beads that absorb shock. Also, I have a two-handed backhand, we two-handers tend not to have elbow issues.
Hi! I wanna know your suggestion about at what tension do u recommend me to start with this string? For ur reference, i used to string my prince phantom 100P with tour bite soft @50 lbs. Thx!
I agree with Siri about not feeling connected to the ball. I dropped my tension 3lbs to 47lbs on my Diadem Elevate Tour and did not like it at all. Perhaps it’s due to the square shape or the material makeup. I could see this string possibly for those who have big fast swings to get the most out of it.
Good info! You say it's not exactly arm friendly, and I recently experienced some arm issues. SO I was thinking of using ULTRA CABLE as a hybrid with Velocity MLT (for example) in the crosses. Would that be a good solution? Have you tried ULTRA CABLE in a hybrid yourself? What tension would you advice for a hybrid setup with a Multifilament in the crosses? The thing is, Ultra Cable should be strung even lower than a normal poly, whereas a multifilament should be strung tighter than poly. Is that gonna be a problem, you think?
@Walter… No… I haven’t and I wouldn’t. The reason is Ultra Cable is very sharp string… it would definitely cut into any multifilament real fast. Ok.. if you did a hybrid put Ultra cable in the crosses for bite on the tennis ball… use the multi in the mains to provide power.. Try 25kgs in the mains and 21.5 in the cross strings.
@@thetennisjones3728 👍Thanks very much. Makes sense. I should've thought of the cutting of course! I'm going to take your advice and use it in a full bed. Or maybe with a poly, but def. not with multifilament. Cheers! 🙂
@@thetennisjones3728 On the tennis warehouse reviews I just read someone say Ultra Cable is a rare gem of a string that has the extremely sharp edges yet doesn't cut thru gut
@@eyeofhorus1301… Thank you for your correspondences 😄 Honestly if you feel how sharp the Ultra Cable is you can be pretty damn sure you are going to cut through the Gut… as I have learned over the years there’s always an exception! Question… are you a string breaker? If you are congratulations you will break even faster with Ultra Cable 😄🎾
Hi Juanmi397 … Siri’s ground strokes (many times) keep me from spinning the ball even more! You will see a few shots on the video where there isn’t much arc at all. My Tecnifibre racquet has an 18 / 19 stringbed… had I a 16 / 19 stringbed you would have seen even more launch angle! The way players are hitting the ball these days with semi-western grips flat shots are virtually impossible. I suppose if you hit a flat shot it would fly out… or find the the bottom of the net.
just strung the mains with this at 46lbs in my prince phantom pro (18x20) never used the string before so will see tomorrow how it goes, wouldnt think so but this racket has great spin potential, there are easier strings to string with i know that much already and thanks for the video enjoyed it 😁
No Turbo… you are smart to keep the tension low. My advice is to go out and swing naturally.., no need to try to make the ball spin even more… you will notice your shots staying in 😄🎾 Welcome to THE TENNIS JONES 🎾
I really want to try that blue ytex string because of the color, gauge, and price but worried about the lack of spin/bite. How much worse is the spin compared to ultra cable/ hyper g?
@Anthony… YTEX Protour Blue isn’t Ultra Cable nor is it trying to be! I was more impressed with Ultra Cable than Hyper -G Soft. Keep in mind that spin production has a lot to do with technique. I am very happy with the spin I get from Protour Blue… if spin is what is driving you try YTEX Quadro Twist or Völkl Cyclone Tour. Ultra Cable is THE spin monster… just wicked hard on the arm 😀🎾
@@thetennisjones3728 I have yonex poly tour air and ytex blue looks like a possible cheaper option. Hyper g soft is actually my favorite string. Ultra cable and lynx tour only come in heavy thick gauge. Cyclone 19 gauge is my second favorite. Cyclone tour goes dead way faster than hyper g. Confidential was way too stiff.
+THE TENNIS JONES I'm confused you looked like a dirty 3.0 casual in practice with those moonballs but then in match play you both looked great suddenly. Looked like maybe 4.0 ntrp I'd guess is that right are you 4.0?

Great tennis!!!
Yes, spin monster BUT unfortunately the sharp edges wear out VERY fast if used on clay courts covered with crushed stone material.

Whats the most confortable for the arm in your opinion, Rpm blast or Ultra Cable?
Both strings are quite hard… that being said ULTRA CABLE is slightly easier on the arm.
