After hearing KD Lang perform that song [Hallelujah] at the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2006 we [Leonard Cohen & I] looked at each other and said, “Well, I think we can lay that song to rest now! It’s really been done to its ultimate blissful state of perfection.” Anjani Thomas

No one, NO ONE, sings this song as well as k.d. lang, except Leonard Cohen himself. The master gives it up for her at the end, and there is no accolade or tribute better than that. If you don't cry when you listen to this performance, then you've got no soul.

There has always been people that want to talk about the controversy surrounding this person or that, and KD Lang is one of those targets. Ever notice that it brings out the best and worst of us? Also amazing. K. D. Lang is powerful. Please see MY comment. 😊🎼🎶🎵😇🙋
I've always loved B Streisand but she can easily be immitated. I've never heard anyone come close to immitating kd lang. Her music will live on!
She is not only a number one excellent singer but she is so pleasant to look at...always...handsomely beautiful!
she was so good with the late great Roy Orbison......quite a talent is she.
William Baker could you imagine if he had lived,k d dueting with Elvis
I have heard over 100 covers of this song, K D sings it with more passion and love than anyone, for me, this is the best I have ever heard
This is such a powerful song. And omg does she absolutely nail it. I didn't know her at all before stumbling onto this video and this is by far the most amazing and genuine take on this song I have ever heard.
AGREED! Check out

Godspeed to Mr. Cohen. His music lives on.
Wow... true respect there at the end.
Everything this amazing singer sang, she made it her own, her voice makes you feel special.
Last time I posted I said it was about my 900th time...well make this 901 and I still cry and get chills....lost my mama last year and we used to sit and listen to this together. Thanks kd.
Flawless.And Leonard Cohen there watching.Emotive,impressive..eh....
I am certain Leonard's heart was very joyous !
Drewtazy
He mentioned thos oerformance in an interview, which is what brought me here.
He was moved and looked like he was holding tears.
I made it all the way to the end, and then the namaste(s)... whew!.......sobbing...
yeah ! a very expected reaction. Who does not cry or want to ????
@@linanicolia1363 onions, damn!!
This is one of those live performances of a song that no studio production will ever better.
Thank you for the brilliant comment!! I newer thought that enyon than Leonard could bring that chill in my spine. She CAN!!! :) Bless her! halleluja.
Excellence on Display here! I admired K.D. Lang's work since the beginning of her career.
My go to place when I'm feeling despair or overwhelmed, which seem to be a lot these days. Somehow it gives a sense of hope and calmness. Thank You Ms. Lang.
Dang, girl. You've got some beautiful pipes.
Such depth of understanding. Only someone who has felt this can sing it...
Pure magic!
Depth of understanding about what.
There is no doubt about her voice and the music, but do tge words of the song mean.
There has always been people that want to talk about the controversy surrounding this person or that, and KD Lang is one of those targets. Ever notice that it brings out the best and worst of us? Lang is as gifted as best of the best. I could sit and listen to this for hours and walk as a better PERSON to have understood the gifts of life and God. I pity the sour, dour, and petty grinches that shrivel their way through life and don't understand beauty or life or fulfillment. Your hearts are hard and your lives are miserable. These are the things I ponder when I enrich my life with incredibly uplifting music. Thank you KD Lang.
Rest in Peace Mr. Cohen, your words are the music of my life
That last "Hallelujah" just about melted me. Absolutely beautiful! Say what you what about KD Lang, but she can sing wonderfully!
She certainly can
This is what I want to say about KD. Lang She is a wonderful person with a wonderful voice. I love her
Yes! melted is a good description. Please see MY comment. 😊🎼🎶🎵🙋
She is fantastic. Her personal life is not anyone's business or up for comments. She deserves respect.
Sheer perfection.
Not only was Leonard Cohen there. If you've noticed , Katie 's mentor Anne Murray was there. We are Blessed to have experienced such unbelievable SOUL artists. RIP in peace Leonard and thank you for sharing your gift of music with US
I love love love this video. I have watched it probably 100 times. perfect performance! can't imagine why anyone would give this a thumbs down.
Because some people are just idiots.
I agree!
The entire gamut of the human experience through the word « Hallelujah » masterfully rendered by KD 🙏🏼
I love this performance of this fantastic song. I think she sang it the way it should be sung.
I've loved Cohen since I was 12 (I'm 65) K.D.s covers are great.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Cohen. Thanks for all the amazing songs
I would like this song by her played at my funeral. If you don't cry when hearing this for the first time, you are not normal. RIP Mr Cohen.
I never fail to get goosebumps listening to this. Never! Just perfect.
Wow Impressive. Watched this after hearing her on Pandora doing this favorite song of mine. Thank you
Seeing them bow and touch each other after the song gave me goosebumps. Excellent, most excellent rendition!! Can't hear this enough.
KD's voice leaves me awestruck and speechless. I felt every word.
Absolutely beautiful song ... Everytime she cries out her hallelujah you feel all the hurt, pain and strength of her struggles
She found a way to capture the essence of this beautiful (prayerful) song. Loved the end with two gifted artists saluting each other.
No one does this song justice like KD Lang.
Here on a random Tuesday, procrastinating, but my spirit is edified by listening to this gorgeous, soulful performance of a masterful songwriter by a masterful singer - both who seem able to channel the divine while capturing the human experience. k. d. is just on a whole other plane with how she fuses together emotion and pathos with just incredible vocal ability and control. There is no one like her.
Utterly Beautiful, K.D. Thank you...much love~~~
Leonard obviously liked it - that's good enough for me.
K.d. Lange Is FANTASTIC !!!❤
This is the best version I've ever heard,,
Surely one of her best performances. She has the voice and she is in touch with the emotionality of the song. KD is phenomenal! Get lost Sandwich!
I stayed sane because of this song, it holds my soul, K'D' you own my heart '3
She touches my soul too.
Please see my comment😊🎼🎶🎵🙋
She's incredible! Love this song. Saw here in Charleston SC and when she sang this song, it stopped me. Beautiful! Thank you KD!
Canadian music royalty right there. Lang and Leonard Cohen, singers and song writer.
I love her.....that talent gets to my inner soul....thank you Kd...
