Ye Fu’s Family History (II): My Father is a CCP Grassroots Killer

Ye Fu: Chinese independent writer, real name Zheng Shiping, belongs to the Tujia ethnic group. Born in 1962 in Lichuan County, Enshi, Hubei, he has published over a million words across genres including poetry, essays, reportage literature, novels, scholarly papers, and scripts. He received the 2009 Award for Contribution to Contemporary Chinese Language and the 2010 Taipei International Book Fair Non-Fiction Prize.
In the summer of 2023, the Dasheng (Mighty Voice) team conducted an exclusive interview with Ye Fu in Chiang Mai, Thailand, discussing topics such as writing, exile, the intellectual homeland of the Chinese people, the historical memory of his father’s generation, and the oral history of his family. Ye Fu’s essay “Mother on the River” has moved countless readers to tears. In this episode, Ye Fu begins to narrate the family history of his grandparents and rarely opens up about his father’s story.
