The best word to describe this video is "Magical" the views were amazing and the food looked extra tasty, I think this is my favorite place on the South Island so far!
Thanks mate! Akaroa is one of our new favorite places in the south island too. The water was so pristine and the views were amazing. Lucky we stayed there for longer 😁
That scenic viewpoint over Akaroa Harbour is so breathtaking! Words really can’t describe how beautiful the view is. It’s really picture perfect, I am super jealous 😆
4:11 what a view!! all the efforts really paid off! 😆 yeah sometimes the photo can't deliver how beautiful the nature is! but it looks amazing really! and the location of Harbor restaurant is insane! oh, whatever the food they have, it might taste really good with the view in front! 😆
Hi Peter & Yen. Yes. Every videos from both of you about New Zealand makes me want to visit again. Never had enough if the beautiful views of New Zealand. 👍. I enjoyed it.
Your south island videos are making me want to get back there soon. I loved Akaroa the last time I was there but now I need to go back to see the Giant's house and the tree. All the mosaics reminded me of a cross between the Hundertwasser toilets and the Gaudi designed park in Barcelona. Thank you for always suggesting such great places to see that aren't on the "mainstream" tourist trail.
Oooo the hundertwasser... really wanna go back to whangarei for the opening of the gallery. Also gotta check out the quarry garden next time we're over. We like the mainstream activities and the off the beaten path adventures. Thank you for watching ❤ 😁
Just realized you said the toilets and found that in Kawa kawa hahaha... haven't been there but now intrigued gonna visit there one day. I was thinking Hundertwasser Art Centre in whangarei. The gaudi park sounds awesome too 😯
The colourful design of the Giant House looks quite quirky but so inviting to look at. It’s really an art! Peter and his nachos bowl 😍 looks very satisfying! Yen’s tacos are also great meal to have after a day of sightseeing 👍🏻 Always love love your choice of airbnb! Super cosy and even you got the same amazing view from the room, similar to the that viewpoint near the giant tree 👏😍
Ah wow and that's a location I have not been there! As I haven't been there I cannot give you any recommendations! Haha! Can't say I am an expert on trees but hopefully someone gets back to you on that question! Wow that house and decor there looks so cool! Good food makes for a perfect outing! The water there and the bay looks so good and the pohutukawa just perfects it! Oooo nice accommodation too! really good job!
Was a really perfect trip and akaroa was a highlight. So glad we stayed for longer it's an awesome spot. Yes! Someone please get back to me regarding that tree haha
Wow! This was definately one of my fav vlogs! Such a magical experience guys! Thank you so much for sharing this one! I'm so drawn toward the Totara tree! I really REALLY want to head out there and spend time in nature x
Ohh man guys. What a vlog!!! I'm so happy to learn about Akaroa! This is definitely on my bucket list! And the little hidden accommodation spot is a MUST stay forsure!! Awesome vlog guys!! X
The totara tree is beautiful, thanks for being a fellow tree lover Marie 😁❤ really want to see the blood dragon tree in Yemen one day... that's the ultimate goal. But yeah akaroa is an awesome place. Highly recommend it
Break time…and perfect time to watch Peter quench his ”feeling kinda hungry now” with tac…um…nach…tachos?? Nacos?? 🌮 Whatever they were, they looked yum!! Fun fact (though I would double check this…my memory is not very reliable😁)…I read somewhere all beetles are edible😋😋.. good find 👍👍 Kinda random, but the shot of Yen walking across the Gallery bridge with the yellow awning…in my mind I heard Peter say “ok….go!” To cue Yen to walk… no idea why 🤷♂️ 😆 Thanks guys for making the holiday spirit filling us…safe travels!!
Hahahaha thanks to lion Kings pumba and timon all bugs look edible 😂 so far the ones that I've tried have all been decent... tarantula, scorpion 🦂 ants 🐜 and huhu grubs. There's a lot of "go yen" these days important tool in my arsenal of story telling 😁
@@PeterandYen forgot to mention… I’m guessing Izzy, but since he shares the namesake of the maker of your beloved coconut slab…had to ask. Who you got? ….and your fav is fighting BB!! Hard to root against either BB or Tuivasa… ill go with BB and Robert Whitman’s 😜
This week is kinda hard cause like you say. Whittikas and Tai are both very likable. But even then team Izzy and BB all the way! Watched the first build up video yesterday so pumped for this 😂💪
Peter is a master when it comes to walking with jandals Incredible giant trees, did you guys feel super tiny? Such a detailed photo of the beetle, thank you for saving him, Peter. Nice story ...can you imagine being the one discovering a town of giants (or Titans) ? Love, love tacos and nachos, and all in between 🤤🤤 Beautiful place, with astonishing views, what a great series you, guys have created! I think I am only missing one, and I am not sure which area I love the most
I use to always get worried he'll trip or injure himself wearing jandals but he really is so much more comfortable in them than normal shoes lolll.. in our final vlog next week when we were doing a hike he regretted not doing it in jandals 😂😂🩴 and yes we did feel very tiny next to the giant tree!! 😆
Brilliant video . Akaroa looks so picture perfect , definitely on our bucket list and the totara tree looks amazing too. The bark on the mystery tree looks a bit kauri . I know they're not supposed to grow so far south , but Sam Neil has them growing in Otago , so may well be .
Yes that's what I originally thought when i saw the bark but the thing was the way it twisted all through the canopy made me doubt that original assumption... also there were no Kauri dieback stations... but I dunno it has me stumped 😂
Love the well controlled “starburst” @ 8.53 (👍🏻 lens coating) and the macro/close up shots of the food 😋😋using the depth of field. Really appreciate the effort of both in making each vlog virtually entertaining as well as informative 🙏🏻
Thank you for noticing the lil effects and change of angles that we've added to the videos. We always try and look for ways where we can improve the videos ❤
Lovely video again, not been to Christchurch for yrs and never Akaroa, that giant house do remind me about Gaudi plaza in Barcelona we visited many yrs ago.
Akaroa is so beautiful!!... ....just like you 😍🥰💖🇳🇿✨ Akaroa sold me!! 🥰 Thanks Peter & Yen for this amazing vlog! waiting for your South Island vlogs so far. See yah! 😎🇳🇿✨

Awesome upload - one of the few places I haven't been to yet in NZ,but magnificent views of the Harbour once you guys hit the top of that walk. There's only 2 other places in NZ that I think could top that, and that would be Cullen Point Lookout on Queen Charlotte Drive which overlooks Havelock and the Pelorous Sounds (I may be wrong with that, all in the Queen Charlotte Sounds anyhoo) and further along Queen Charlotte Drive you hit Shakespeare Bay Lookout which overlooks of course its namesake, just before you get into Picton. Once more, those food reviews - you two need to do a best of compilation from NZ.
Gorgeous video, made me nostalgic for Akaroa. Never been to the Giant’s House! Hey Peter & Yen, Really loved this video of yours. Do keep showing incredible places in and around New Zealand. Great going!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Btw the weather seemed perfect at Akaro, what time of the year did you happen to visit this place?
We also went there exactly a year ago, but I was a bit disappointed tbh. I was hoping to see more of the French influence but what I saw was to commercialize that. Hey, you should talk about the history - that Maori signed a deed to sell Akaroa to the French for 10K Franc. It took the French too long to respond and when they did, Maori had already signed the Treaty of Waitangi already, but Ngāi Tahu didn't mention anything about the deed at all
love your dress Yen, yellow looks so good on you💃🏻💛 that's crazy giant tree, whole camera lens can't capture them all 🤩
Thank you helmi ❤
