I don't know if it's by design or by chance, but to me this is a visual masterpiece. I much prefer this over the official music video. The colors and the glow are magical, especially with the snow/rain stage effect. It all suits the song perfectly.
Absolutely love this performance. I love the sound of how the backing vocals just gently mumble "By dun ringill- BY dun ringill..." into the microphone before Ian. Amazing.
Awesome video, and always loved John Evan's concert hijinx! I still think Ian was insane to disband this lineup, THIS is Tull to me. After the 1980 massacre they were never the same.
I agree this lineup was the best, except I preferred John Glascock over Dave Pegg. Don't get me wrong Mr. Pegg was and is an amazing bassist among other instruments and vocals, but the lineup with John was for me the iconic Tull lineup.
Ian did not disband it. He gave the guys a vacation and Barrie had announced he was leaving the band after the tour. Even David was worn off by the life on the road. That headline was a total lie.
@@cesarincamendozaloyola4407 Not true. Barrie, David, and John Evan were informed by mail that they were not going to be participating on the next Jethro Tull album because the studio wanted Ian's solo album to be released under the Tull name. Barrie didn't much care because he had enough by then and was pissed off about the supposed poor contract that Ian gave John Glascock. But David and John Evan were blindsided by the announcement. They were eventually invited back after Ian's "A" lineup disbanded but they both declined.
The end of the greatest era of tull.well imo.thick thru strmwatch .sum run the 1st run till then also.A started new direction but was smokn also .but this is greatnest n sad .galscock barre,hammond,,,,palmer..hammond was amazin his run .1st saw warchild tour msg nyc then eavh 1 thru till crest..long run myself.b 64 soon
@@Meddled Yeah they went in the direction of 80s cheesy-synth rock. I guess Ian was attempting to pull off an Asia type thing but didn't really end up working out too well (in my opinion).
@@Meddled, actually, Ian made the change of direction. Eddie only made additional material as a special guest. Knowing that Vetesse had a similar framework and knowing the sound of Ian's solo album of 1983, this was all his doing. And to me, personally, it worked well.
He is the corner of my smile! Really amazing performance 😍 Love Dun Ringill! Drinking wine, waiting for the changing οf the years watching Jethro Tull on your channel. Perfection! Happy new year to you huge Tull fan! I wish Good Health and Freedom!
Hope that snow wasn't asbestos like they used on Wizard of Oz. This was a great tour, sure missed Glascock though. I remember all this show well even though it's been almost 40 yrs
Probably not. The dangers of asbestos were well known about in the 70s. Asbestos was even banned from being used in certain countries at that time, USA not being one of them though. Still very unlikely they used it considering they knew a lot more than they did in 1939 when Wizard of Oz was filmed.
Remember this part of the show, all acoustic was absolutely awesome!! One of 5 JT shows I was fortunate to see in my lifetime.
Lucky you
Moments of musical magic captured for eternity.
Great song off of the criminally underrated Stormwatch album.
This is so beautiful !!! It will sure put a smile on your face !!

My second favourite song from SW - very good live presentation

Yes whenever I sing along I also mumble that refrain

Yes the end of the golden era

Saw this tour in '79..it was FANTASTIC !!
Yes it was great!
Great tracks for one of the most underrated album in the story of rock !!!
Yes SW is my 5th favourite Tull album
@@jethrotullcollection8446 yeah
For me the best is Stand Up but at the second place I put this album !

Love that song
Dave Pegg on the left there. Between him joining, and that 'At thing with Eddie Jobson, the band went in a different direction.

💯 agree, 72-79 (we’ll spring of 80) was unbeatable. I wish he’d have changed the name after he broke up the magic lineup

Another RARE 8mm gem. THANKS SO MUCH. Love Dun Ringill.
My pleasure!

A rare beauty, this. Many thanks!
I love this man 💖
Magic🎉🤟
Yesss 🙏🙏
I saw that show in Montreal, it was fantastic!❤️
Yes I attended the Montreal concert too
Barrie on backing vocals!
Yes, I think so. My second favourite track off Stormwatch
Later, he plays bass in a folk instrumental
Brilliant!
Thank you
Thank You
You are welcome 🙏
John Evans always up to something hahaha
Yes a consummate entertainer but an even better musician
@@jethrotullcollection8446 oh yes indeed.
Pretty sure I was at the Oakland show.
The reason for the sunglasses someone at Madison Square Garden had thrown a thorny rose on stage that hit him the eye .
Yes that is the sad story of a well intentioned fan
Talk about a gift of roses….

Yes, I missed John too. But Dave Pegg fit in very nicely; Dave is a fantastic rock bass player (in addition to his folky material)
