There was this interview I saw last year of this owner of a retro game shop in Florida who said "when times are good people want to be entertained, when times are bad people want to escape".

This video was really helpful for me. I've always struggled with wanting to escape from my future challenges by living each day aimlessly without taking any actions towards my goals. This is because the goals are scary and stressful. However, what your video made me realize is that if I don't try to take steps towards making my dreams come true, then I will never get there. I am the worst procrastinator and this realization was really important for me. I will try to hold on to this feeling so I can make better choices in the future. Thank you, I look forward to your future videos!

Still working on my tabletop RPG game. The hardest part is coming up with abilities, like figuring out lots of unique ways the players and each monster can interact and "break the rules" without ruining the whole game, while trying to keep it streamlined and rules-lite as possible. No palette swapping monsters here! :')
Are there any boxsets on how you do all your layouts and templates for books? Like the World of Twilight Monk, how do you do all that "InDesign" stuff?

Ever since finishing my game art degree back in 2019 and immediately attempting to develop my ambitious indie game 2 weeks after graduating, the only thing that's worked for me is doing tiny steps every day. Intentionally copying and recreating game mechanics as smaller projects, creating sound effects, special effects, tilesets, writing a shader, etc. When I tried going for monthly goals instead of daily goals, I wound up burning out completely for 9 months in 2022 because that's a surefire way to demoralize yourself.

Starting at the beginning of this year I have fully transitioned from digital (iPad/mac) to physical art for my comic. And I am loving it. Currently I pencil on Bristol board and ink on vellum. And photograph the finished art. As far as goals…not too many so far for this year other than seeing my new process in print. I have been focusing on enjoying making my comics rather than just working at a break neck speed. In the last 9 years I’ve made 100 animated short, a feature length animated film and 10 books. I’m a little tired. So I plan on slowing my pace and schedule

Really happy for you on your near completion of Twilight Monk, I plan to play it! My long term goal is an art job in the videogame industry. Right now I am still completely focused on developing my fundamental skills as an artist. Short term goals would be to go back and really establish a great understanding of construction and perspective, and I plan to start by following the DrawABox course.

I’m 16, so these are some extreme ambitious goals, but here they are:
Short term goal: Put out some manga/comics this year and next few
Long term: Run an art studio of video games, film, animation, concept art.
Ultimate Long Term Goal: Teach the next generation of young rookie artists

I have slowly going through my gamedev learning journey through these 4 years as well. This past year I have chosen to truly stick n learn with Godot for the long run. I would love to have 2025 to my year of learning pixel art as well as make 2 minimized games this year. Not gonna be giving up. As well as learn animation for fun.

I don't usually comment, so, first of all, thank you for this video. And even if it's not related to the theme of the video, I really wish that you could make a Brazilian Portuguese localisation of Twilight Monk. Even though it's not possible, your game is already on my wishlist, and I'm really looking forward to play it. The graphics are truly interesting, and I loved the overall artistic concept and the brief description of the plot of the game.

since i just started game dev, i gotta start building a community around me from now on. it's a crucial part of publishing a game. i would love any advice about this (i think twitter/x is the best place to start isn't it?)
