This is a Great Detailed Video. I like the coil trick because I broke most of mine - even after i oiled the connectors and let them sit for hours. I'll be on the look out for a PVC valve grommet. Oven Cleaner is cheap and will cut that valve cover cleaning time by more than half. I have to do this to my 1999. I just did Delphi Coils and NGK Iridium Plugs. Thank you for your help. Now I know what to look forward to.
Great video. I’m planning to do mine this summer. Can you post a breakdowns of the costs for the items? I’m assuming you got them from a dealership? Are all the parts OEM?
I bought OEM Lexus/Toyota parts on eBay. The spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, grommets, PCV valve and hose, and FIPG gasket maker was about $200 total in parts.
A LOT of threads on ClubLexus and other forums talked about replacing them. Mine had no signs of leakage, so I saw no reason to mess with it. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
The video is not great, you showed nothing about taking the half moons out or putting them in. There is a certain torque spec and order you tighten the bolts down to for the valvue cover.
@@generationhighoutput ye if u like scraping shit or an hour...why do that??when u can just dip the pan in degreaser for that same hour and just spray it off Work smarter not harder..
Whoever said that is a complainer either way it still got done and prolly came out the same and ye idk what their tambour if you wanna scrape it what're you gonna use a reason blade or a putty knife or driver and scratch dafuq out of the valve cover but thank you very helpful video
I’m not even 5 minutes in and this is the best informational mechanic video I have seen.

crazy i’m ordering all my stuff rn and only payed 131 for everything in 2024
I have to do this in few days
Awesome video!! How is the car doing?
It's running great! 250k miles and going strong!
Did you double check the torque value, is it 5 in lb? Or 5 ft lb?
50 in lb
Where did you get the long swiveling socket thing?
It is the 3/8-in Drive T-Bar with Flexible Ratchet from Harbor Freight Tools.
Where did you get pcv hose I can’t find it anywhere
Try searching online for "Toyota 12261-50040" and hopefully you can find one for sale.
@@generationhighoutput contacted Lexus and got it thank you though!
Is this the same for the 1993 Lexus sc400
The procedure is basically the same. The 1998-2000 LS400 has a different intake manifold, but it is the same engine.
How come you didn’t replace those half moon things?
Never mind, i just did my and see that they are metal ?!? Looks like they can come out tho

That's what the gasket maker is for. To fill in the gaps
Make sure you buy new valve cover gasket bolts they’re cheap and it should be replaced as well
I trusted this guy til he broke a bolt that only needed 5ftlb torque
I am not a professional mechanic, I make mistakes. I left it in the edit to hopefully help others avoid the same.
52 inch pounds is the correct torque specs. I bet you he just went ahead and drove the damn thing.

I did not change the half moons at all. They looked fine to me.
Ay bro theres this thing called engine cleaner or carb cleaner...its just alumi...old gift card wtf??.😂😂
An old plastic gift card is great for scraping built on gunk and won't damage the aluminum.
