  • UK casuals catches up with Martyn 'ymo' Gardner former Lincoln Transit Elite, for a 2nd time. Martyn gives us an honest account & tells us about awaydays, the odd alliance with other firms, time spent at her majesty's pleasure and meeting other football chaps in there. Also finding the rave scene, but does football hooliganism ever leave you, whether your active or not! do you still get that buzz on matchdays?
Than you to 80s Casuals & Section 60 Clothing

Went to Lincoln with the Swans on a pop and crisps bus for a New Year's Day fixture 1985.
We were a mess from drinking all day the day before and when we got to Lincoln went into the club house which I think was not far from the away bank. Had another shedful of beer and seem to remember drinking beer out of a plastic hat at one stage. Eventually most of us couldn't drink any more and decided to go in but two of the lads still wanted more and decided to stay.
Just before kick off they staggered out of the club house and bumped into the LTE. They could barely stand up and thought they were going to get a right kicking. The lads from the LTE shook their heads, laughed and just wished them a happy new year.
At some grounds they would have had a bad kicking but these guys were decent.
From memory we lost 1-0 to an early goal but can't remember anything else about the game, or day.

I hooked up with sheff wed top lad back in the day was in strange ways Ian Chapman ocs ,when he found out I was a blackpool lad came over shook my hand said all respect to our crew ,he said tangerine army had been only mob ever to run them in Sheffield 80s ,ended up meeting on the out went over some weekends stayed with chappy and his family ,went with em couple of times one smashing up Lansdowne pub which was BBC headquarters at that time ,and biggest off was went over to Liverpool with them first big kick off outside a ticket office and some scallys ,came round tickets lar tickets lar ,next minute attacked by around 200 Liverpool backs to the wall a good little off ,till stopped by dibble with dogs then over to the ground I'd never been to anfield before ,so 50 ocs went up into this stand kemlyn road people will know it's Liverpool end ,so we had a great tear up with em ended up on side of pitch but craziest of all back then ,the police just took you to your away end obviously treat like heros ,after having a go in the home end .

Gilly Shaw is a game lad. He's taken a back seat for years because of his rep but he's a handy fella, from Gypsy stock, heart of the Black Country, and has a real presence. Don't chat shit about lads ya don't know. The Yam Yam Army were decent in their day and Gilly was always up front.

@@muzi2672 Pml. Yes as a 51 year old Albion fan I've never come across Gilly the Bullshiter. He just lies about West Brom and can't admit the truth. Yes I've seen Wolves take the Piss out of us, mainly due to numbers. But also I've seen Albion do the same to Wolves too. The proof is out there to see. Or is that a different Gilly who when at West Brom was giving it the big un b4 his Wolves boys were off leaving Gilly to claim to be an Albion fan b4 pulling a judus move. Too many people believe his hype, but don't listen to me i only lived through those days so i know nothing about Shaw lol. However maybe Listen to Bluenose legend Baz, RIP, he tells it straight on the scene back in the day here in the West Midlands.

Forest often used to come to Lincoln when Mansfield came to town... and some Mansfield lads would come when Forest came in the usual pre season games mid-late nineties... think they fell out though not long after this sort of time?

Why would we go to Newport? It’s a shithole, and we haven’t played there for years, as Newport have been insignificant. As for Cardiff, maybe you want to learn your history a little bit. Ninian park 1980, when 3/4 of the ground was Swansea, Jan 93 for the autoglass game. Remember the Owain Glyndwr pub? Dec 93 also.

Plenty of footage with respect from Newport played the Swans in the FA Cup. Absolutely trounced them on the carriageway with Jacks jumping down from the away end and taking it to them. Demolished them. You need to wake up, and as for Cardiff there’s plenty of stuff on RUclips making you look the liar you are.
