its also a question of the material, haley stevenson is more natural and British Millerain co uses petroleum bases wax, would love know more about it as it certainly feels and looks great, tough and is thicker , would a natural base fabric at 14 ounces feel the same or not :)@@Stridewise

I kept waiting for you to address the very different look of the wax treatment on the Thursday. Is it basically because it was very new? Not mentioned in the video but I love the Rogue Territory waxed jacket with its rounded pocket style. Fitting is very odd on that one though.
Different ratios of wax/oil from Halley Stevensons (who make the cloth on the Thursday jacket) vs British Millerain (who make the cloth for Filson) and Fairfield Textiles (who make the fabric for the Huckberry). Fairfield Textiles/Martexin seem to have more wax and therefore patina super quickly, the UK brands seem to use more oils which makes it shinier and more even of a finish.
I don’t have a wax canvas jacket. I have denim and an extremely thick denim jacket, but no waxed canvas. I guess I prefer to get soaked on the rare occasion it rains here.
Will you do a video on the P&CO instrument overland jacket? It just came out. It’s a 10oz waxed canvas jacket. The company is based in the UK I believe. I ordered one because I thought it looked really good had to get it. Hope you look into it! Great video as always!
Good timing. I have been looking at the huckberry waxed canvas jacket for a few days now and was about to pull the trigger until I saw your video. I had no idea Thursday made one, so now my choice is harder 🤣
I just got one and I’m on the fence about it. The ripstop “lines” give it a more dressy look IMO, and I’m not sure that’s what I was looking for. Structurally however, it’s definitely heavier than the standard flannel lined model, and it has polyester lined sleeves. I’m hoping there will be some professional reviews of it soon as I’d also like to know what other people think of it. It’s definitely unique.
I wear that exact filson logging as rain gear while it might be more expensive and I wish it was made in the USA filson is the only one of those three that will fix it free not if but when I shred it at work

The only thing I don’t like about the Thursday jacket is how wrinkly and cheap the canvas looks in comparison to the other two. Can you iron it without ruining the wax layer?
The jacket was fairly new when I got it, the wrinkles come out with a bit of wear. I feel like you're not meant to iron waxed canvas? Actually you could try, what's the worst that could happen. A really waxy iron, I guess

Earlier this year, I bought the Kuhl "Burr" jacket, unlined. By far it is the best fitting, and best looking jacket I've ever worn. I'm 5'8", 165 lbs, square shoulders, and 32/33 sleeve. The "medium" is a hair tight in the shoulders, but otherwise a perfect fit. The compliments started day one!
I recently ordered Thursday Boot Co.'s leather jacket (It's Anejo Racer Jacket) It's been only a week wearing the jacket (I work in an office in Chicago, IL and wear the jacket on my commute). The leather is already starting to peel and getting flaky a bit and it is concerning me. It's made with lambskin (at least they claim so). Is this normal? How is your Thursday jacket holding up for you?
Schott's advice about conditioning a leather jacket when it gets rained on is ridiculous, totally unnecessary. Leather should only need conditioning every decade or or two. Ask Rose Anvil.

Strange - in the UK filson small is 21 inches pit to pit and medium is 22.5 inches.
My Barbours are all I’ll ever need.
Great video man, now that i have the filson in my hanse all i can say is that even though its made in Bangladesh the jacket its elf from look and feel is absolutely my favorite, the color, the fabric, the thickness and everything else except for maybe one or two small details is awesome. I sense this jacket may become some what of a cult classic (legend) like the Baracuta but in its own lunchbox
Yeah and watching this video back, the thicker canvas does LOOK different to the others too, it folds differently and stuff. I get the appeal
its also a question of the material, haley stevenson is more natural and British Millerain co uses petroleum bases wax, would love know more about it as it certainly feels and looks great, tough and is thicker , would a natural base fabric at 14 ounces feel the same or not :)@@Stridewise
"Even though it's made in Bangladesh"
I love how peopoe like to pretend that "Made in USA" is better even though the country mostly produces junk in pretty much every department. From cars to TVs and everything in between.
If you want to to support local business then sure but stop acting like "Made in USA" is better. It's not
yes i agree, I talking about when made in the USA or Germany etc was good, was done right, these days its a mess, because that can do anything almost everywhere, like Bangladesh but at what cost, because i have to say the jacket is really well made@@jihigh482
What about the Freenote Cloth Riders Jacket? Thoughts on it??
You should try the Relwen, suited for the warmer states.
I wish Thursday would update their size guide. The fact it only shows the chest measurements is pretty annoying
Thursday boots jackets. Good fit and quality.
Those extra 2 inches in length are going to get so many converts
Schaefer? Kind of incomplete without including them.
this isn't a list of every waxed jacket on earth though
Will you do a video on the P&CO instrument overland jacket? It just came out. It’s a 10oz waxed canvas jacket. The company is based in the UK I believe. I ordered one because I thought it looked really good had to get it. Hope you look into it! Great video as always!
i have a 'best waxed jackets' video coming out and i mentioned them! i haven't handled it but for the price, people should prob know about them.
@@Stridewise Sickk, I’ll be sure to watch it. Maybe one day you can do a review video of the jacket with all the specs.
The Thursday seems to be a good deal. Unfortunately they look like a wet crumbled shirt. Even on their website.
Surprising given the thicker canvas but the wax isn't a dry wax. In any case the wax'll wear off
I tried on the Filson, and I hated how the sleeves fit. It's a short jacket which I liked but hated the bulky sleeves
Good timing. I have been looking at the huckberry waxed canvas jacket for a few days now and was about to pull the trigger until I saw your video. I had no idea Thursday made one, so now my choice is harder 🤣
Haha glad I could "help" (not help)
Sorry the best jacket with the best history is the Belstaff Trailmaster. I live in mine from autumn to late spring.
Iconic super cool British biker jacket.
Is the Thursday boots jacket the Olive colour
How is that Thursday jacket holding up after 8 months?
Do you have an opinion on Huckberry's new waxed ripstop limited edition jacket? Its 10oz and really making me think hard about my purchase 😅
Go with Filson "Might as well have the best" if you can stomach the made in bangladesh on the label.
Thanks for the video. Good information
Glad it was helpful Jobro!
Costly AND made in Bangladesh is a no bueno for me brother.
Better materials
I wear that exact filson logging as rain gear while it might be more expensive and I wish it was made in the USA filson is the only one of those three that will fix it free not if but when I shred it at work
arghhh I forgot to mention the free lifetime repairs!!!
If you are actually working, Filson is the only choice. It sounds like you are!
Freenote Cloth RJ-1⁉
Filson..I have this jacket..its the best
Been so torn and haven’t been able to pull the trigger on the right fit. I’m 5’11”, 185lbs with a similar build. Should I get a medium or large from Huckberry?
I got a large but another guy commented with those stats and he got a medium :/. I'd say large. exchanges are free
what are your sunglasses?
I need a jacket with adjustable cuff... just saying
Got my Ship John Wills on now. It's going to last a pretty darn long time.
A great jacket but I have trouble recommending something with such a middle finger of a wait time haha did you see our video on it? ruclips.net/video/3u4knc8dg28/видео.html
Please don't ever let that man touch a chainsaw again
Fortunately for you he died in a chainsaw accident while filming
The only thing I don’t like about the Thursday jacket is how wrinkly and cheap the canvas looks in comparison to the other two. Can you iron it without ruining the wax layer?
The jacket was fairly new when I got it, the wrinkles come out with a bit of wear. I feel like you're not meant to iron waxed canvas? Actually you could try, what's the worst that could happen. A really waxy iron, I guess
Shame the Huckberry light jacket only comes in 2 colours. Some of us sweat a river just going around the corner to get the milk.... And that's in Sydney winter
huckberry.com/store/flint-and-tinder/category/p/81969-unlined-waxed-trucker it's in three now! tbh I prefer the Bighorn jacket for lightweight fare but I don't think it sold that well
How old were you when you moved to the states from Australia? You have a great underlying Aussie accent.
Or New Zealand- I can only tell when y'all say "six"
haha I've been in the US for 11 years!
Where did you get the jeans you paired with the Thursdays jacket?
Great video. Can I ask a qts.
I'm 5'10" average build. Do you think size medium fits me best for the Thursday version?
hmmm. i'm 6 feet and a little broad and Large is for me. Soo, yeah I think if you're not super swole the medium would work
If you don’t mind me asking, what is your height and weight?
6ft, 180-190lb
I'm curious if anyone has tried the Kuhl outlaw waxed jacket? I can't find as many reviews of that one
I’d like to know about it as well, I tried one on at s local retailer and liked it
Earlier this year, I bought the Kuhl "Burr" jacket, unlined. By far it is the best fitting, and best looking jacket I've ever worn. I'm 5'8", 165 lbs, square shoulders, and 32/33 sleeve. The "medium" is a hair tight in the shoulders, but otherwise a perfect fit. The compliments started day one!
Whose is best…? Barbour…
I recently ordered Thursday Boot Co.'s leather jacket (It's Anejo Racer Jacket)
It's been only a week wearing the jacket (I work in an office in Chicago, IL and wear the jacket on my commute).
The leather is already starting to peel and getting flaky a bit and it is concerning me. It's made with lambskin (at least they claim so).
Is this normal? How is your Thursday jacket holding up for you?
yikes dude, my jacket is holdilng up great. i'd get in touch with thursday they're pretty good at handling these issues
@@Stridewise Thanks for answering!
I read Thursday's return policy, and hope they'll take this seriously.
Love what you do! Keep up great work!
Nick work with the getting the ripped selfie in the video Nick.
Save yourself a ton of money. KUHL "Burr" jacket.
Schott's advice about conditioning a leather jacket when it gets rained on is ridiculous, totally unnecessary. Leather should only need conditioning every decade or or two. Ask Rose Anvil.
Vegan? Finally, a jacket that caters to my dietary needs.
what colour is the thursday jacket you have?
Olive
