Thank you! Gosh I have been a vet tech ( not licensed) for over 20 years on and off. I took a 8 year break and literally forgot how to calculate drugs! When I went back into the field I have so much experience, but all these younger girls with ego, RVTS , just prayed on me. Because I could not calculate drugs I was not allowed to intubate, place IV, just all the things I am good at and love about the job. They stripped me of my confidence… so thank you for your video, yes of course this makes sense. Mg/kg easy, liquids, iv sedation I just completely forgot. And the funny part is is not only will the techs not be kind and help you, but neither will the vets! So thank you!
It breaks my heart to hear that you experienced that with colleagues! We all have to start somewhere and there’s always a point where we don’t know something before we do!! But I’m glad that you found this helpful. Let me know if there is anything else you would like me to touch upon!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm currently enrolled in a vet tech program online and it's hard just reading everything and basically teaching myself. This video helped so much, I appreciate you.
@@courtneyclark5859 I totally understand and I’m so happy that you found this video helpful!! Please let me know if you would find another topic to be discussed or if more math videos would be useful.
I'm so glad i found your channel. I'm working at a ER clinic still being new to the field . I'm learning about doing the math now, and I'm having a hard time, but I think I'm starting to get it 😅
@The Modern Vet I will definitely reaching back out if that's ok. And yeah ill let you know what content I would like to see hopefully it'll help others too thank you again. If it's one person which ik its more you definitely help me ❤❤❤🥰
I have ZERO faith in my ability to math and calculating drugs has always been one of my biggest intimidations! Your video simplified things so well and you made it all make sense to me!! Thank you for making this monster so much smaller in my world

I just graduated from my vet tech program and now i'm studying for my VTNE in august. I wanted to find a video that can calmy explain drug calculations. I'm so glad yours was the first pick. I'm looking forward to watching more of your content! as another POC in the veterinary field, THANK YOU!!

Thank you for your support, I just recently started helping out in the emergency hospital only to find out that the techs calculate EVERYTHING for the doctor!
If you could one day do another video on the subject that would be amazing 💗💞💗💖💗💖💖 I love the way you explained everything and the practice problems were very helpful 😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for this Video! My wife currently finishing up Pharm class for for Associates for Vet Tech, and she wants to go back to become a Vet because all the vet's she's worked with said that should become one. I'm better at math than she is, so I was trying to find a video to explain it to me, because I'm not in class with her to see what she's learning, but Math comes relatively easy for me, so just having some who could explain it like yourself has been a huge help and I'll send her this video and I can help her fulfill her dreams. I have been supporting her in every aspect of her dreams to become a Veterinarian. Thank you so much for this!
As a CVT for a loooong time, I really appreciate this! I've worked mostly in clinics where the doctors did all of the calculations and it's been ages since I've had to do it myself, and now that I'm at a new clinic the CVT's are responsible for a lot of them and WHEW....I needed a refresher. Thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love the way you presented this! 👍🏼I have been watching a bunch of videos on dosage calculations, and couldn't get it straight in my head until I watched your video. You are a great teacher! Very clear, and concise, just what I needed 🙏

Where did the 13.75mg/kg come from? Im still a little lost.
Thanks so much for reaching out!
The 13.75 mg/kg is a common minimum dose used when prescribing Clavamox. I hope that helps!!
I just failed an exam on drug calculations really bad so I came looking for major help and I found it! I understand and can do it with no help! Thank you so much!
Woooo!! Go you!! I’m so glad you found it useful. Best of luck on the rest of your exams and let me know if you need further help with medical math!!
So the clavamlox had 13.75mg/kg in one tablet. We needed 62.5mg so how do we know not to split the tablet in 4. If one tablet only consists of 13.75
What are the clavamalox tablets in concentration?
I think I see it now😂 brain freeze. So if they were 250mg tablet. You would give the dog quartet of a tablet bid daily?
??
That’s correct!! 😊
@@themodernvet3871 thank you.🙂
