      I have been working on a router lathe with copying features for about a year because I can't see buying a lathe. It works really well but when I look at this and your router lathe/copier it makes me want to take mine apart and start over completely. Great job on these, very cool.

    Lots of us have been waiting for the plans for the Bowl Blaster and sure would appreciate you making them. It's a great tool and appears to be better than a lathe for bowls

    I'm assuming that the 4 "people" who gave you a thumbs down for this jig are Lathe snobs. "You can't do that on a table saw..... that's Blasphemy,you need a proper lathe!" Ha!
    Man my head is reeling with all the possibilities for this jig. In conjunction with Matthias Wandel's tilting router....I would think the design possibilities would be endless.

    That is really cool. To hollow the bowl, good just raise the saw blade into the bowl I suppose?

    Try another one the router but put the drill in reverse if you can. If youre using the round nose bits you'll still getting chattering and camming as the bit rotates.. It will try to twist a spiral cut because of the flute of the bit, and curf the top of the bit.

    What would happen if you put the drill into reverse so the bowl turned the opposite way? Reduce tear out?

      Was wondering that too, but I am sure he has it set to turn into the router bits direction.

    How do you hollow out the inside?

  • @waltlars3687
    @waltlars3687 10 лет назад

    With A Vee Grove bit you could make wooden pumkins useing the stop pins like 4 and 11 to slow down the rotateing speed have you of useing a BBQ rotister motor ?

    • @izzyswan
      @izzyswan  10 лет назад

      Wood Pumpkins! Thats cool idea. I might look into attaching a variac to the drill at some point to slow it down for bowl carving on the router. As for me personally I don't like slow. I am always looking for ways to make it thing go quicker. The faster it gets done the more money there is to be made.

    • @waltlars3687
      @waltlars3687 10 лет назад

      What I am thinking of is a Router mounted horizantaly on a Melame table thats free to move the BBQ motor would turn the blank there would a template profile of finished design on that the router would have a stylis that matches the router bit profile stylis could moved lil bit forward of the bit for roughing in. I would use a spriral cutter bit like end mill for roughing to hog out the waste. baslicly a face plate lathe duplicater powered by a router I think you could more intricit profiles than the table saw bowl blaster

  • @anway1953
    @anway1953 10 лет назад

    Izzy I was wondering how big a bowl can you make with this and can it do a shallower profile like shorter and wider bowl by moving the tilting point higher from the blade?

    • @izzyswan
      @izzyswan  10 лет назад +1

      This one can make bowls up to 11 inches in diameter and 8 inches deep. It can make cuts and shallow as plates. the next one will be able to do 18 inch diameter bowls and 12 inches deep.

    I was talking to a friend about this jig and explaining what it can do and when I was done talking to him he said "you know I wonder if when GOD was creating the universe did he use a jig? Did he have a jig maker?" I paused for a bit laughed a little and thought you know I bet that's a good question to ask when we go to see him.
