Ryan real talk. I'm not blowing smoke up your a**. I'm not exaggerating when I say this but you are genuinely my favorite manga/anime RUclipsr. There are a lot of reasons why but the main ones are: I think you are a genuine dude. Which is rare especially nowadays in our "let's get famous off one stupid tik Tok video" world. You have good taste in this medium and an eye for what's actually good. Others again either just like something to bandwagon/for the clicks or don't truly understand the depth of a product or lack of and overrate lol. I could go on and this is getting long. I hope you read this and I want you to know I wish you the best always and I'll be here during the highs and lows. We are blessed to have you here doing this. Thank you and keep up the great work!

The algorithm can be quite demoralizing. Especially when it starts to downrank your channel. It's difficult to find a balance between making something the algorithm will approve of and something that you actually want to create.

Seeing as this is your full-time occupation, I don't blame you at all for focusing on what's working and curtailing what doesn't. I agree with Ryan here, he puts so much time and effort into his videos (I.e., the Horror monthly) and those videos bombed despite the entire fricking month is literally Halloween. People are the worst on RUclips when it comes to content viewing (and the algorithm doesn’t help it either). But guess what? The algorithm threw Ryan a bone when he reviewed Godzilla Minus One. I honestly am support and a friend of Ryan to make sure every video he releases that I like it & comment to support the algorithm to be on his side.
The only conundrum or influence I wish everybody had were to do the same turn, I admit that I don’t watch every video like his Chainsaw Man or anything that I don’t read. It’s quite a struggle and Ryan makes it this far in 2023 with 100K subs. So don’t ever give up man!

I know you don't need any manga recommendation and this video pretty much said they were taking a bit of a back seat...but I think there is some potential channel growth in more Baki manga content! 3 main reasons, 1. You already love it and are somewhat versed in it. 2. There is a HUGE crossover of young male fans of Berserk which is already a big part of this channel. The algorithm boosts that shit hard and I've seen Baki content taking off big time. 3. It is on a break until January but is coming back with a hyped up fight in a hyped up arc that I could really genuinely see blowing up on RUclips/socials. He pretty much took the fan favorite character and is giving him his own arc. It's been a slow build since the end of the last arc setting it up but it is definitely going to pop off and brought in a TON new Baki fans.
Sorry for the Baki rant, I swear I'm not just a fan trying to get you to talk about it (you already do) but genuinely think that it is content that could perform well from a numbers stand point!

Hey Ryan. Big fan, just some points from my point of view I.e a scrub that only has viewing experience rather than creation. It seem that long format videos seem to do better for the particular types of media you cover. People who watch the topics are ones who are genuinely curious in something new (searching for why you should watch/read ___) or analysis from a genuine fan who understands the particular nuances of a series (watching to see an opinion - does it match and/or could they get a different perspective), therefore enough detail and the right amount of opinion seems to be a vague recipe for success. For me a manga review rather than a particular episode/chapter, reviewing the manga entirely or up to certain arc is cool. Considering you like so many different types of content maybe a ‘Ryans monthly or quarterly collection’ would be cool filled with your recommendations from new media being released or some past media being revisited that you are enjoying and why - this type video could be helped by be broken up by some skits over a story being told in intervals which would help with you film making aspirations maybe as well as another way of communicating updates straight to audience that maybe don’t watch the streams but would like the odd update from ya. I dunno but I feel like I’m here for the real Bryan as much as I am for the topics covered keep it going champ, preciate all the work you do. Sounds cliche but your vids can lift spirits when it is needed most

Exciting to see channel grow! Been here since around under 20k subs. Sad to see october tanked as i enjoy those videos. As well as the opm weekly chapters. Glad to see the retrospec have been successful. Easily my second favorite content. If i had to make a suggestion maybe change the weekly chapter and episode videos into yt shorts. Make them a quick announcement that theres a new episode or chapter and give your quick thoughts?

I understand your frustration, especially when you see other people doing well with similar things. But if you ever do a collab I think that would be good for your channel, I'm no where as big as you but I would love to debate you casually on berserk or something like that. You definitely want to evolve your content. It is well know within the RUclips anime community that pure anime content is not sustainable long-term. Most people only watch anime content about the series they like or dislike. Same for movies and other media content.
i think opening newchannels for diffrent audience could be better, like how darkviperau does, I like for example rambles/vents, and the manga stuff
Long form videos are tough for me as a mom so that's a big part of why I haven't watched the retrospectives (SORRY!) The ones I can watch, usually get watched in several sittings. I don't know how that affects the algorithm for you but I'd be interested to find out. Love the chapter reviews for berserk and I do love the Webcam real chat style videos. I'm probably not your target demographic for the most part so i understand how you have to make changes to appeal to your target demographic. I'll still support you regardless, though, my friend! Here's to great success in 2024 and beyond :)

I am watching a lot of horror franchises right now starting with Terminator (i consider the first two and parts of Salvation to be horror anyways) and your restrospectives have made me want to start watching the Alien series, i have not seen any of them yet but I have seen the Predator films. I would like to be more frequent on streams next year. You know honestly some of my short meme videos did very well, even though i'm not monetised, you could maybe do a meme-monday thing? i'm here for the journey and wish you luck in 2024, you've got this

Hopefully you’ll get to 200k soon, quicker than 5 years haha. I’m starting a channel soon, it’s a manga/anime figure unboxing channel, probably 60% figures & 40% manga.
I already have 25 figure videos ready to go. The way I’ll do it is review one volume of a manga & then the next day drop a video with figures of that manga. Every video will have 2-4 scale figures.
I have over 40 figures sitting in boxes waiting to unbox.
im suscribed to like 20 or so channels but THIS one, your channel Ryan, is the only channel that make me feel that i have a connection with, being to several live streams that really do cement that feeling, i just love your content in general bro, keep it up.
I'll miss the individual chapter reviews but absolutely get the reason. Since you mentioned that you want to read manga casually for your own enjoyment, here are my recommendations:
1: Call of the Night by Kotoyama. A manga about a boy who is out of touch with his emotions and especially with the emotion of love. It also has hot babes and vampires in it.
2: Happiness by Shuzo Oshimi. A young boy gets assaulted by a vampire and turns into one. He slowly loses control of himself and desperately tries to cling to his humanity. The story is dark and has panels that are genuinely horrifying.
3: Black Lagoon by Rei Hiroe. A normal businessman gets thrown into a world of criminals and his heart slowly becomes darker the longer he is surrounded by the underworld. It also has lots of gun action and hot babes in it, particularly a Latina who is basically the Terminator. The anime also has one of the best dubs of all time.
4: Skip and Loafer by Misaki Takamatsu. This is a wholesome manga with little action. A country girl moves to Tokyo to go to highschool. She goes on a journey of self-discovery, has to adjust to her new life, and find the balance between her social life and studying to achieve her dream.
Been here for over 3 years now and came here from Masked Man and been awesome following what you gotta say and see what you do not to mention you as a person is always what I love most about people I stay with here on YT. So it's gonna be real interesting to see what's going down in 2024 and what you come up with also 200K Gang Gang.

You have a catalog of content that you should be very proud of. I think you’ve already left your mark as far as being an underrated, consistent, and insightful presence on the RUclips anime/manga/movie sphere.
From what I’ve heard they used a guy in a suit and sets made with models then layered them w/CGI. Either way still it’s better than anything Hollywood has released the past few years.
As someone who knows you on a person level I just want to say I'm really proud of well you've done and it's been really cool watching your channel grow! Keep it up Ryan I know you're going to keep getting bigger and better because I know you've got the drive and creativity!

Hey ryan, i loved this video and its got me excited for what youre gonna do with the channel. I had an idea but Im no content creator so i dont really know, but I think you should consider switching the livestreams from youtube to twitch.
You can still do the same things like watch videos or just talk but then people can sub for $5 a month. That way you could tap into more audiences because alot of people mainly watch twitch. Also that way you could completely separate the image of you in the chair being tied to your youtube channel, rather than the main videos you create being the poster.

Hey Ryan, I've only been watching for around half a year and I have a few things that I personally would love to see from you and from your channel. I love the invincible series and think it'd be a great addition to the channel, but I'm not sure that just covering the comics would be a good venue. It's not to say you couldn't bring any new thoughts or takes to the comics, it's just that there's already lots of pretty large videos and channels that have covered essentially all of the comics and I don't see your reviews ever cutting into that market easily. Making direct breakdowns/thoughts on episodes as they come out is definitely an option that may perform well, but I think possibly a newer take and something you could find a new niche with would be doing a direct comparison to the comics and show as it comes out. The show follows the over arching plot very closely but as a viewer of noth there are a lot of differences in pacing and a LOT of added character moments. I think speaking about the differences between the show and the comics, possibly from the lense of how the show is an evolved version of the comic story based on the 15 year gap between the comic and show debuting, as well as how Robert Kirkman himself has used the show to change the early story of the show to better set up what comes later in the comics. (For example focusing more on monster girl and Rudy early on with the foresight that they're bigger characters later in the comics).
Another totally separate idea that could be something to try is doing live streams on your first read through of new chapters of the big manga featured on your channel (berserk, one punch man, Vineland, etc.) Now obviously this could slightly detract from your personal reading experience, having to react and interact with the stream, but it could be an extra reason for more casual channel viewers to sometimes watch the livestream, as well as essentially giving you two separate streams of revenue and viewership for the same pice of media. The livestreams you do now are pretty niche and personal and the manga chapter reviews are pretty broad and more about the chapter than your personality, which is great! Because again it gives you a wider total audience. I think trying the live first read trhough of a new chapter would be goo self advertising too. At the end of each review there's a super easy tag of "if you like what you heard hear and you'd like to experience my thoughts and give yours, I do live readings each time a new chapter drops" (except... yknow catchier).

The only manga videos i watch are berserk. I love chainsaw man but have not even started reading it yet
