  • Shares of Tesla (TSLA) are moving higher on Wednesday morning, despite its first-quarter report missing out on Wall Street estimates, after CEO Elon Musk commented on the future of affordable EV options in the company's earnings call. During the call, Musk signaled a shift for the company to focus more on AI.
Oppenheimer Managing Director and Senior Research Analyst Colin Rusch joins The Morning Brief to discuss Tesla's first-quarter earnings results and the current status of Tesla's operations with its products.
Rusch offers insight into Tesla's current efforts with AI: "Obviously, he promise of Tesla being the leader in AI for the physical world is, I think, very compelling and one that we think is real over time. How that translates into financials is really a big question mark right now and with the Model 2 or this low-cost vehicle, we don't know where the price point is going to be, what the cost structure is going to be. And so we think there's maybe another one or two numbers costs before we start to see things inflect higher.
He continues with: "From an execution period, I think they're going into a challenging period. They've made a bet that the learning cycles on their neural net will accelerate here between now and August, and they'll continue to improve the functionality on the FSD [full-self driving capabilities], and we think that's not a certainty, there's a lot of debugging that has to happen and a lot of work to get that moving in the right direction at the pace that they're talking about."

The Market have been suffering over the past month, with all the three indexes recording losses in recent weeks. My $400,000 portfolio is down by approximately 20%, any recommendations to scale up my returns before retirement will be highly appreciated.

For the average person, the strategies are fairly demanding. In actuality, most professionals who have the necessary expertise to pull off such trades effectively carry them out.

I agree, before the pandemic got real serious, I used to handle all my investment and I was pretty good at it, fast forward to post-pandemic and my-portfolio is steady in the red with profit rate down to the lowest, that's when I touched-base with a coach I saw featured on businessweek, who restructured my portfolio and over the last couple months, I've made over $850k from initially $210K

I've wanted to start investing for a few months, but just haven't had the courage to start because the market has been down for most of last year. Please how can I reach out to your financial advisor and what are their services like?

But don't understand the cybertruck sales being low arguement? They are making 1000 a week. That's more then rivian and ford combined when they launched
They will sell more combined by end of the year

Competition will really get serious when all EVs have the same charge port and can use most of the Tesla charging network. Many pervious Tesla buyers made the decision to buy a Tesla based on availability of reliable chargers and that was a clear advantage. That advantage is going away with NACS and improvements in all charging availability.

Tesla is not a bad EV, it just needs to focus on innovations and new body designs, especially if it wants to stay as high end EVs. Its FSD is better than before, but I wish it had Lidar: only relying on cameras is not safe enough for true self driving.
