A continuation of the story after we pick up the trade show in Orlando. Things turn really nasty as the South braces for a rare ice storm and our delivery is right in the middle of it.
I enjoy watching these videos. My Dad was a truck driver and I rode with him many times. I always wanted to drive trucks, but due to health issues, I can’t. But, I continue watching Indiana Jack. Keep’em coming.
As my dad would say..I like the cut of your jib!! When life gives you lemons, Jack, you make the best of things ...I really admire this in you....Thus I watch your shows..Tks so much for what you bring to RUclips.."
The south is never prepared for snow or ice. Here in Memphis, a 5 lb bag of ice fell out of a guy's truck. It caused a 40 car pile up AND they closed school for 3 days...
YAY, Jack! Another superb film! I love your "long format" [20+ minutes] efforts and even appreciate your music backgrounds when we fast forward down the road! Try not to be *too* hard on us Southerners for ice storm freak outs! It just isn't an event that's in our wheelhouse regularly. ;) Meanwhile: Keep th' greasy side down and keep it 'tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen th' ditches, Y'All!!
I drove in the 90's and early 2000's there is a small truck stop just west of Baton Rouge. they have home cooking and the best red beans and rice with gator sausage . every time I found myself going by there I would stop and get the red beans no matter what time of day it was, it was that good.
Hey Jack ,, I am also Jack from Statesville North Carolina ,, I have watched about all of your videos and have really enjoyed them ,, I used to be a driver back in the 80's and thinking about getting back into it ,,, Watching your videos I've seen so many places that I've been when I was a driver ,,, Love the videos ,, Keep them coming ,, I'll be watching ,,, Stay safe out there.......
Trucker Jukebox doesn't do drama. It's just him, his rig and his dogs. I wonder what kind of pet Indiana Jack would have? I'm thinking a wise-cracking parrot. RAWR! Look out for the Swiftie, RAWR! LOL
Another great episode. I was heading home to Shreveport from a run to Cincinnati during all that. My yard is off of I 220 around Bossier and Shreveport. It was closed for 3 days after the storm. I could see the super slab from my truck when I got back and not a patch of ice anywhere. But they kept it closed until the 2 mile long bridge over Cross Lake dried up.
Ive been watching Your videos for a few years now & they are my favorite show to watch-period! Keep-up the awesome work.., You’re an awesome example for truckers all-over, & hopefully I will meet You at one of our truck-stops here in the U. S. Once I get my ‘49 International rolling again after I finish restoring it. Thanks again Jack, Peace, Widdershins
Hahaha, the suspense music you've been playing in the last few videos is great! Crazy they didn't believe when you said the road was closed, pretty easy to verify...
Second video of yours i have watched yes i subscribe on the first one and thumbs up on both. Driving over the road was what i was going to do when my body could not handel the hard physical work but, lost sight in one eye that ended that dream. So for now i will watch your video's stay safe and GOD Bless P. S. I did drive over the road when much younger but, wife and kids came first
Thanks for the video Jack. Quite the ice storm down in your neck of the woods. Come on up to British Columbia some time for some fun weather LOL. Oh yeah and remember your tire chains. Take care, stay safe and looking forward to your next adventure 😎🇨🇦
I've been subscribed a long time. I always enjoy riding with you, you are my favorite trucking video. I never mind which truck stop you use, flying J works for me. I think you are the kind of guy that could make being a floor sweeper and interesting job and that's coming from a 32 year machine shop owner.
Jack, i enjoyed the ride and the conversation. Food looked very good at the Flying J. Glad we made it safely. Take care and be safe good friend. Later!
Enjoyed the ride and have a new found respect for the guys that carry the goods. Truck stop food has to get old but probably makes a home cooked meal really good. Stay safe.
Wow Jack you sure handled that great thanks for the ride next time we could bring out the checker board, or play peanuckle, have a great trip back, the Magoo's in Milo Maine 4-17-18
I live in vermont, winter gear you bet, my dad said there are three seasons in vermont, winter, mud and the 4th of july, time to take the long johns off and back on for the fifth. it's 5 degrees now, pull toy told you that.
hi sir how are you . i m from INDIA. PUNJAB ...and i allways see yours you tube videos .i love it .yours videos inspired me to come canada and part of trucking life .i love trucking life ..
my last winter [2008], going to Stockton, Ca. on a 2 day trip, took me 4 days to get from the shipper to the receiver due to road closer thru Donner's pass. got to Reno same day, Friday, Saturday got as far as Truckee and told to go back. Sunday got past Truckee, but road closed and had to wait 9 hrs. by the time i got to the receiver on Monday, they were closed and had to wait till Tues. morning.
Jack it's refreshing not to hear all the drama and cussing your a class act, if you ever make it through S.E. Minnesota your invited to stop by for a home cooked meal... Stay safe! Mark & Julie
They put more values on there goods than your life your life means nothing to them everybody is in such a big hurry to get nowhere be safe out there great video Jack
That ain't entirely true-if you stack it up and get yourself kilt, they STILL don't get their load. They just want you to go,however slow you have to,to be safe, but GO. Whatever time you sit in a truckstop, their load ain't getting any closer to where it needs to be.
I work at a call center where we take reservations for a major hotel chain based in the south. I was surprised that night when I started getting calls from people in New Orleans saying they needed a room because the interstates were close due to ice.
I got caught in a blizzard one time where the highway patrol closed the interstate and made everyone exit and get off the road. As soon as I got parked I called in to my "driver manager" and let him know what was happening. All he kept asking me was "when are they going to open up the road again?" like I am supposed to know when it will stop snowing and when the highway patrol will deem it safe to return to the interstate. Some people do not have a clue.
Could almost feel a little sympathy stress for Jack when he got an ice storm and warning lights. I was in a bad ice storm several years ago that was in GA., SC, and NC and ended up parking in an alley between a Waffle House and car dealership just to get off the highway.
They sure did. I was feeling like a lucky driver the next morning because power was out all over, but that little Waffle House was running on generators and cranking out the coffee.
Hey Jack, Love watching videos, i've watched all of your videos from past. I can't wait for your new video to come out, if you can upload more frequently that would be awesome. Keep trucking and good luck.
Hey Jack, I got caught up in that mess as well. I tried to go around it but some of the back roads were closed as well. I finally gave up and got a motel room.
Thats ok to copy me, (LOL) I copied my nephew and his son who have the same glasses. I forgot how much they cost but you can get them at Walmart where everything is Chinese and CHEAP. I have started watching your vids. Great job Vasiliy.
I wear tri-focal too, only mine came from the eye dr. Unfortunately I have a wide bridge for the nose piece even though my nose is not that big, so finding plastic frames is near impossible. My last ones I had similar to Jack's only brown I took a number 21 bridge and ground the nose section wider with my moto-tool and they are comfortable but a bit heavy. The pair I have now, are the type with adjustable pads, that are wide enough, for my nose #22 but until I got the lenses in them they cost $350.00. They are designer frames, which I could care less, my lenses are hard coated, and have anti glare. I will say, they weigh next to nothing and they are very very comfortable and fit my face really good. So I guess in the end, you get what you pay for if you are willing to pay in the first place. I knew going in, it was going to be expensive and I do not have eye glass coverage on my insurance, but they do pay for half of the eye doctor's exam if you don't have the new type pressure test done. I could say, without my new glasses I could't see all that coming LOL.... Here's a nice tip, if you drop into any eye dr. they carry "clip on" sunglasses which fit just about any pair of glasses you have. For $30.00 or less, you get the proper clip on's to fit your glasses, they come on and off easily, they look like script sun glasses and the best part the lenses are scratch resistant and UV approved, and anti glare. There one you get at the Pharmacy or in a store, you have no idea what you are getting, and usually they don't last that long, Now that I can get really good clip on sunglasses to fit my clear script glasses I will never purchase prescription sun glasses again. Also what is nice, I took my scrip to wallmart and they made me bi focals for watching tv. However I can't read with them but boy is it nice not to have to shuffle through 3 tiny lenses when I want to recline and watch tv etc. Mostly I use my tri-focal now for driving and going out to the store, out to eat etc..
Years ago when I ran 48 they would try to send me down to I-20 to avoid snow on I-40. I would tell them nagatory on that. I'm from the PNW, snow on the 40 is always better then ice going through 20 in Shreveport LA. I actually got shut down in OKC on Christmas day in a ice storm one winter. We talked a guy into getting us to a hotel & had a Christmas party Just getting to the Hotel from the parking lot was an adventure in balancing.

I agree about rhe ice down south. Unfortunately it seems almost similar up here in N.Y.. We get snow and ice for a week straight then get a break for 2 or 3 days. Nice and sunny. Then it hits again and everyone forgets how to drive in it.......

They got their clock, the trucker has a different reality. I suppose the worst injury the broker could get is tennis elbow from picking up the phone too fast.
Hi jack Steve here from down under, i find it very different how shippers load their freight over in north America than we do here in especially van freight no real concern about stuff moving and getting damaged, here we use a lot of ply boards and lock bars
one winter in El Paso, Tx. we got @2 inches of snow and icy roads. up by the college they have this road that goes downhill to a stop light. people would drive normal and slam on their brakes at the bottom of the hill, but the icy road prevented them from stopping and they slid right through the intersection causing a lot of accidents. in a way it was kinda funny, people sliding all over the place, but also not so funny when people got hurt too.

Driving a desk is easier than driving a truck, at least for some textbook ppl met a few of those pfft, great video Jack loved it.
The south is never prepared for snow or ice. Here in Memphis, a 5 lb bag of ice fell out of a guy's truck. It caused a 40 car pile up AND they closed school for 3 days...

Well Jack, if it wasn't for the unfortunate weather, that trade show load turned out pretty well. Enjoyed the ride as usual. Well done once again.
YAY, Jack! Another superb film! I love your "long format" [20+ minutes] efforts and even appreciate your music backgrounds when we fast forward down the road! Another nice film Jack. Always better to be safe than sorry. The delivery point isn’t going anywhere, and tomorrow is another day.
Well in this case the customer was closed because of the storm anyway, so my being late did not matter.
indianajacktrucker It was good of them to take the trouble of letting you know ! 😄 keep safe Jack every time.
Thanks for the video Jack. Quite the ice storm down in your neck of the woods. Come on up to British Columbia some time for some fun weather LOL. Oh yeah and remember your tire chains. Take care, stay safe and looking forward to your next adventure 😎🇨🇦

+DOBBS But no ice storm? Ha!
Thanks for the ride along.
Great video jack 👍 keep them coming
Enjoyed the ride and have a new found respect for the guys that carry the goods. Truck stop food has to get old but probably makes a home cooked meal really good. Stay safe.
Another great video Jack.
Got to know when to say when especially in the southern states! Smart move Jack
I felt your pain - 24hrs stuck in the parking lot only to get check-engine warning lights once you decided to make a break for it
i love your videos... i look every red volvo passing by one day will meet.
Takes 100cm plus to close a highway in Ontario (Canada). Great videos I watch them all!
Hey Jack, I am a trucker from Ontario and I like your videos
Wow Jack you sure handled that great thanks for the ride next time we could bring out the checker board, or play peanuckle, have a great trip back, the Magoo's in Milo Maine 4-17-18
LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS.WISH YOU HAD ONE EVERY DAY.👍👍
Safety first,,, ALWAYS. That and I never work for someone that doesn't trust me. Doesn't make for a good work environment.
Great Video Jack
admirable editing..."let's look to the future".....and cut to the buffet...priorities are straight!
Good one . Thanks
Cracking video jack yet again
another first class show Jack

Jack, you can have that ice road trucking. Be safe out there.
Jack i know that you make the right decision and the broker must know that to greatings from The Netherlands
Yep. It was you. I went I45 and you went west on the Tollway to 290. If it wasn't so much traffic, I would have found a way to say hiyas.
I work at a call center where we take reservations for a major hotel chain based in the south. I was surprised that night when I started getting calls from people in New Orleans saying they needed a room because the interstates were close due to ice.
Yes, that was a weird ice storm.
Hahaha, I have never been South U.S.. I can't believe that closed the hiway. I am from Canada, but best to play it safe .
I got caught in a blizzard one time where the highway patrol closed the interstate and made everyone exit and get off the road. Hey Jack, I got caught up in that mess as well. I tried to go around it but some of the back roads were closed as well. I finally gave up and got a motel room.
If it were multiple days I would have got a hotel too. You made a good choice.
Lol. I use to do that later in the day. Find a parkong spot and then drop the trailer, get fuel and come back to the trlr. Those lots fill up fast!
Great job Jack you keep it safe all the way safe travel brother
Peace and love my brother do what you do best , you are the best
They were closed yesterday anyway? You can call this the ICE ROAD TRUCKER EDITION!
Gulfport, MS....my hometown
i think Indiana jack is the best trucker.i really enjoy him he is my favorite.
Hey Jack love your films but my favorite part are the glasses. I'm gonna get a pair just like that and I don't care if people say I'm copying you haha
Thats ok to copy me, (LOL) I copied my nephew and his son who have the same glasses. I forgot how much they cost but you can get them at Walmart where everything is Chinese and CHEAP. I have started watching your vids. Great job Vasiliy.

hey Vasiliy, Ive been watching you as well.....love your videos....curious as to what youre using for recording your videos as well....thank you
Are they not cool!? ;-)
indianajacktrucker ,
Love your videos. Stay safe out there. 👍☺
We talked a guy into getting us to a hotel & had a Christmas party Just getting to the Hotel from the parking lot was an adventure in balancing.
great video greetings from holand
Very glad you made it safe, the broker needs to listen to the weather before he starts in on you or any other drivers.
You need to debate firing your broker. I live up north and worked as a night dispatcher for a regional breakpoint. Safety of the driver (and truck) was our first priority. The freight can wait... The truck and freight can be replaced rather cheaply - the drivers, not so much!
+TheWizechatmgr I have never used them before and will certainly think twice if I have to use them again.
U said it. Safety first
I agree about rhe ice down south. Unfortunately it seems almost similar up here in N.Y.. We get snow and ice for a week straight then get a break for 2 or 3 days. Nice and sunny. Then it hits again and everyone forgets how to drive in it.......
If you're reading this mr broker, jack is not a liar there was really a ice storm I was with him. Keep On Truckin Jack and stay safe out there.
Great video #JACK #SAFE TRAVELS
nice vid jack, heard they were closed yesterday anyway, oh well.....lol tc.
Good vid Jack, it all worked out. Is your ck engine lite still on?
keep truckin jack
The south always have Ice storm where we usually just get snow up north.
Wow ice and snowing that far south?! WOW.
I get antenna slap frequently from my cb antennas on windy days. No mirror heater?
Fun adventure, my guess is that Mr. Broker is not going to be the collateral damage stuck in the ditch, Meridian or wrapped around or on some tree, or they could think, ' hey go out and try it, cause I got some more business lined up'.
I have watched some of your trucking shows there and your roads are way bumpier then ours. Maybe that's it?
Hi mr jack stay safe out there
Lovin it
I've been to the Flying J many times in Gulfport.
one winter in El Paso, Tx. we got @2 inches of snow and icy roads. up by the college they have this road that goes downhill to a stop light. people would drive normal and slam on their brakes at the bottom of the hill, but the icy road prevented them from stopping and they slid right through the intersection causing a lot of accidents. in a way it was kinda funny, people sliding all over the place, but also not so funny when people got hurt too.
Obviously a sign of the times that the broker won't believe you - he thinks it is "fake news"
Better safe than sorry.
Why are the mom and pop truck stops never full? you are the bomb. LOL
Not really sure but I think it's the shower program, fuel discounts, and availability.
Ty
