This woman was "woke" before it was a thing.
She was born whole with three dollars and six dimes
@Al-Musawwir-El: Bey You sound beyond ignorant and jealous
@Al-Musawwir-El: Bey LOL reversing what I stated & putting a weak lame emoji face at the end, does not change the fact you are jealous and ignorant... But if it makes you feel better, good for you baby 🙌
Woke has always been a thing for us...
@Al-Musawwir-El: Bey Yes, I also think it's fake. I had read too many documents where black Americans come from.
She’s flowing because she knows who she is. We all need to be on that level.
💯💯💯💯
Amen
She's not Bamilike, the Bamilike have no oral history of any of the members of their tribe being sold off into any slave trade, so how could she be Bamilike? The DNA geneology tests are a fraud, and for Entertainment Purposes Only. People have sent their dog's saliva in for testing, and these fraudulent tests have returned human, tribal affiliations.
Its amazing because Erykah and Simon look like relatives!!!! the nose, eyes, and mouth
Yes!! That is true. I did notice that. Same type cheekbones and eyes.
Wow you are smart. True
+Anwar Uhuru Thought I was the only one to notice.
They really look alike same eyes and bone structure
+Anwar Uhuru man they look just alike they even smile they same
This really resonated with me. I am Jamaican-born, I am African. I am Cameroonian, that is what I live today. My husband is Cameroonian, and I have had the privilege to not only go but to also tour Cameroon. I love my countries and I love Africa.
She's always been extremely intelligent, cerebral, enlightened, woke, unique, dope as hell, eclectic, and she's so much more than that. I remember being 13 when I first heard her music, and she's had me ever since!
🧘🏾♀️💙🧘🏾♀️🤞🏾✊🏾
I love Erykah & I love when we African Americans trace our roots such a beautiful thing.
+AStarIsBornThisWay Thank you so much. Not all Africans care for us the way you do and I appreciate you so much.
do you know which DNA test she used?
no we do not lol
+Janice Asante What?
you guys arent african tho lol
look how she looks so beautiful in her African Cultural wear-come on, come back home, where a group of people are ready to treat you with world best hospitality ever.
It's a blessing and a curse...The blessing is more substantial though. Peace
my granmother would say ...."hunnuh eh kumon bak de'ponch deh. "
Really, some Cameroonians still killing their brethren. Erykah stay where you are. The knowledge is fine. But I prefer your peace for being a part of the all.
I can't wait to go, to be around all of those beautiful people! What a blessing
Y'all tell everyone that.
All Africans ( black people) have to come back home there's much to do and we have to start building already
Africa for the Africans : Marcus Garvey ❤️❤️
Much love to brothers & sisters woldwide
She really favored that older man, the face shape cheek bones and everything
He looks like he could be her grandfather.
OUTLANDISH TV yeah she did. You’d be surprised how many of us afro Americans favor people from the African continent lol
Yup...the nose shape got me like WOW...
yes i was thinking she looks alot like him just lighterin complexion
I noticed that too...she did.
I did my DNA test and learned I'm Senegalese, Nigerian, and 10% European. I think as an African-american and Caribbean woman, i had this feeling that i would be rejected by ppl from African bc some AA said they were rebuff by them. AA have generational PTSD from slavery. It's a real thing! We're the only ppl that was totally stripped of our culture and had to build a new one. We really shouldn't be chastised about that, we're a resilient ppl.
Reading the bible will reveal much truth in this regard. Ask God and you will find the answers of what was lost in those pages.
vayoha02 I keep hearing this rejected by Africans narrative, it breaks my heart! Please know that you’ll be accepted by many 💜
@@swatkasham5509 I truly hope so because I plan on visiting Nigeria and Senegal. I know it will be a spiritual experience.
🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
You should. I would say give it a shot and keep an open mind towards your journey. All the best
Wow she looks just like that old man from Cameroon! She could easily be his daughter! That test must be very accurate
This video brought tears to my eyes, I'm happy she's found her roots and hope one day that I can find mine too.
You are making me emotional Ms. SheDolt. Every vid Ms. Lady. You keep saying it. I try to keep it in, but you wont let me.
Ase! Sis
me 2..but she did say something that stuck, 'i was never concerned with where i came from, becuz i no eye was connected, somethings are just in us'
I agree Gold Rose.
Go,SheDot,Go! Me too it's an important component to who were are.....peace and blessings ❤
Chel'le Malone TEARS, lol thought i was the only one
It's so badass to see African culture resemble native American tribes as well. The dance, the togetherness as a ppl for our children. Absolutely no separation between children and all the tribes mothers. I'm mostly of German decent but both sides of my family have Cherokee and Choctaw lineage as well. Lots of different settlers around the foothills of the Ozarks. I love seeing ppl find out more about their families. Badu, you da Tru!
Africans and Nativesof the western world are generally similar because they are closest to the root of humanity. The Mmre we sink into the western system the further we get away from nature and natural thought
Dang! I’m from Dallas and my roots trace back to Cameroon 🇨🇲 too! 😂
Me too Cameroon 😉
I am a comeronian, we are waiting for you .
You welcome dear❤
Amare Carter If you are Afro-American your roots trace back to several locations in West and West-Central Africa, and among a multitude of ethnic groups in these regions. The test Erykah took solely represented the origin of a foremother on her direct maternal lineage, a woman who came from among the Bamileke people of Cameroon. Erykah as an Afro-American has ancestors that come from among several other ethnicities and locations in West and West-Central Africa.
How do u do one of those what are they called
OMG I'm from the Bamileke tribe myself 🙊. I can't believe she is from my tribe. Now I understand why I've connected with her as soon as I felt her energy
Yes I love her energy
Me too
I'm 100% from the bamileke tribe of Cameroon, and I just got chills because I always thought you looked like my mom when she was younger... Very interesting!
But then you marry the white man get outta here.
I’m 50% Bamileke and I swear from young I always believed she was Cameroonian before I found this out it’s crazyyy because she looks it
Me too am bamileke
She might be from the same clan as you Eliane.
Lmao your bus hand is white
Erykah Badu has a very pretty face. Looks so familiar like so many other black beautiful women.
i agree she really is very beautiful and charismatic woman her face eyes smile
When I get a secure job....I want to do one of these DNA test!!!
U look like u from ethiopia. Cute
yea I have heard that! Ethiopian or Somalian lol I am really curious to find out where my ancestors are from....because someday I want to go to africa! and I would love to visit the home of my ancestors!
That's nice of you :)
I'm from cameroon just like Ms. Badu :P
That is dope!!! I love Ms.Badu ^_^
Alot of black musicians in America have Cameroon lineage. The Cameroon ppl are also known for music. Amazing!!!
Yeh for sure and ivory coast too!!!"
As an African American women, visiting Nigeria changed my life. There 👏is👏a👏spirit👏in👏that👏place
Not to be Funny But She Looks like she is related to the old man she was hugging from Cameroon by the eyes. So this is real
The facial expressions too
That is what the video is about she is from Cameroon and those people she look like are Cameroon. That is her tribe of DNA
Am I the only one that thinks Erykah Badu looks like she is related that old man?
Bantu Muntu noooo....I saw the same thing....its amazing
Omg I just said that. Same eye glimmer
By the way there is similarity a DNA should be taken she looks exactly like that old man.She might be from the same clan.He is a relative.
They have the same short nose, cheekbones/flattish face and smile :-)
Nope I saw it too. I thought it was just me.
She got more aliases than a Wu Tang member
You silly 😊
I guess several people are living in her
And I love it!
It was a burning in my soul to get the test. I’m so so excited. I just ordered mine at 2:30 in the morning. I’m smiling like I got married lmao. Once I get my testing done and find out my results I will be visiting Africa very soon. I am so so happy 😀
I hope you got to see the motherland. I cant wait to meet my village
I was born in California but always dreamed of Cameroon/Congo since I was a baby. didn't need a DNA all I need is to Get back Home.
I love Erykah, and this is the coolest video ever. Seeing her discover more about herself was a treat!
and she is right because as an African, i notice that African American have a lot in common with African as she said in this video: the way we raise children, the time issue, and so many things that i thought were only African people issues, but she is right, it is Black period. coz even black from the Caribbean have the same similarity
😂😂😂
Definitely same with the Caribbean but we’re all the same people 🙏🏾
@@jerryberry8967 how we all the same people
@Cynthia Dickerson my people not black that's a reclassification frist of all
@Cynthia Dickerson man all I give a fuck about is how the Europeans in America treat my people in America I don't care about that shit if you not a American Indian that got kidnapped and sold all over the world I don't care about you
That's my language he was speaking
you are bamileke?
The man was not speaking bamileke
@@ebaiderrick Bamilekes and Bamenda people are Tikars or why do you think we are all gratis
@@ebaiderrick our languages are like bakweris and Doualas. We are all Tikars same traditions, same outfit almost same language. Am a Bamenda but I understand mbouda
Welcome home sister ,from Cameroon
I’m happy for the African American people with these DNA tests to help them find their root origins ...
You can also go to the library and study. Far more accurate
Im sure you can study to learn about the different tribes and cultures but to actually find your DNA link you would need a laboratory
@@rodp1159 any library?
Listen. I saw Erykah in June and the crew was late for the show. The local news was there, prior to showtime, and asked me to "express" my feelings in front of a camera. I politely said, "She could show up at midnight and I'd be here... cheesin' & waitin' patiently." So... you get a tardy pass from me, E! Anyday. +love
She say.. 'time is for white people.' and has said it in several interviews (so you can go look it up). Woo!
taz biscuit no this hair is not from white people ..white people do not cut their hair off to sell for profit ..goh with that
Zorah Watson exactly
Many African cultures wore wigs, From Egypt to west Africa! Know your history
Your right I know white women who cut off thier long hair and donate it for wigs made for those who lost thier hair to radiation and chemotherapy.
The Living Fruits. White people are on time because they don't work. When you work your body gets tired.
search and you will find.Life is a journey and Erykah badu ain't Afraid to ride that wave.
Donn Jones she is so fierce. trying to get like that.
Most African Americans come from West Africa.
what do you aspected? the African west coast was the shortest distance from their home right!!
True
But Cameroon ain't in West Africa
False! We come from America! Ask your elders of their Indigenous root's in the Americas!
I graduated from a HBCU and my college professor taught me that the colonizers introduced the Africans to time. It makes soo much sense.
Africans knew about time long before the Europeans colonized Africa. Remember that Africa is a continent not a country. Whereas America is a country made up of some 50 states. Africa is a continent of at least 54+ countries. Each country have many languages, traditions, cultures, religions etc... Not all Africans speak the same languages or follow the same traditions or religious beliefs or any other practices for that matter. Many used the sun and the moon to calculate time. Also remember, Africa is called the "Motherland" for a reason. Too many times we think something came from the Europeans but it didn't. They took what they learnt from the Africans and made it their own. Then when they present it as their and many times in their images we think it came from them and not the African. George James in his book stolen legacy talks about that decades ago.
@Tony Taco You obviously didn't understand what I was conveying. In Africa people thought freely and were relaxed. They didn't work 40 hours a week. Please expand your mind before attempting to discredit me.
@@abdullahrasheed1493 You said bro..
They took civilisation from Africa and their people to believe that it was the other way around.
They still feed off Africa till date because they'll never survive without Africa!!!
How does that make sense to you? Colonization was ruling and abusing of a people. The free labor and taking resources from a continent and people.
Any traditional way including knowledge was whitewashed for most part. Africans had their own way of telling time and seasons. The west didn't bring anything but pain and suffering. Just like they did in India, the America's and Australian.
It's a repeated formula practiced for their own gain and survival.
They didn't or don't rescue anything or anyone instead and for most part create a new problems that those societies are to now working to overcome. The irony of all this is it was must be solved by them or in their own way. Don't be fooled most and all this people had great system and developed civilization while Europe was still in the dark ages.
Learn your own history from the true writers of your own true history.
Another big fat lie, the so called African sold y'all Judeans in slavery.
70AD from the destruction of Judea to the Sub-saharienne slave trades then finally to the Trans Atlantic slaves trades @ 1611kjv#Luke21:20-24/Joel3:1-6/Deuteronomy28:15-48-68
She's got the same eyes (other than hers being green of course) as her tribesman ancestor talking about her people's history (the older one)
For real, though. Who has the audacity to dislike such a beautiful video?
Trump People
People that are entitled to their own opinions maybe..lol
I think you and I already know what kind and type of people dislike us to be proud of our ancestry but hey bad news to them coz they ain't gonna stop us like they did in the past
i think its more of an african thing. we call it running on african time lol applies especially to Nigerians who love to be fashionably late. Guilty myself
Not even in Nigeria, even in Kenya you will hear phrases like....There is no hurry in Africa. If you want guys to show up at 9am tell them meeting will officially start at 8am.
We call it "Trini time" here in the Caribbean
In the US we call it CP time (colored ppl time). We always say black folk will be late to their own funerals..lol
Very true as popularly called AFRICAN TIME in NIGERIA...LOL
Even in South Africa it's called Afrikan Time or Bantu Time. I know for sure for sure that God functions on this time as well. Always late, yet still on time
We as blacks have so much out there in our roots that we can over come every thing in life because then we get to understand us as s nation of black people what we can learn is how to being and use what we know about ourselves to teach our young that this is who we are ..Erykah Badu now you can pass all that to your children and they can pass it to their children I'm so full of joy right now .. thanks for sharing 🤗
Miss badu I have been a great fan of yours and I happen to be a German with ancestry from kamerun...love u more Erykah
This was beautiful seeing you there Erykah! All of us should go to the Motherland one day. I can't wait for your new album to come out!
they look just alike tho!
Edward Robinson. I said the same thing!!
She looked like the old man.
They all got the same nose
Myeesha Odom bone structure around the eyes
She is gorgeous
Erykah has a spell in her eyes.... I understand why so many men fall for her.
They are simps bro. And I enjoy her music and a lot of her energy. The one thing I don't like is that she is weird with men. She is always trying to manipulate them sexually imo. It's off putting.
Bilal said in an interview that he never looks her in the eyes. Something about them are enchanting..
@@rogerwilliams4742 yeah ain't no telling she was molested by the opposite gender when she was younger or never had a father in her life
She looks like she practices voodoo. Personally i would stay far away from her
She’s just a lil confused that’s all she will shake free from her manipulators
Just got my results back a week ago. My ancestry is from Cameroon also. West Bantu People..Definitely on the vacation list.
this is so similar to native american culture, i think all indigenous people of the world have similarities with their cultures and beliefs .
BeatsOutDBricks very true!
TimelessViBe don’t bring them into this please! This is about Africa - Cameroon. So stfu
+Ifeanyi chuckwu no
You’re right! We are all connected. They can try to divide with titles and labels but our ancestors know better!
I think everyone is from Africa..
AFRICA!!!! PROUD TO BE AFRICAN!
Also, I just feel like Africa's okay, we don't need 'industrial civilization' frankly, id be fine with nature, nature all around me, although that isn't what we have, but if we did id be OKAY!
Carol Wills we could use solar energy
That is still industry. You just replace fossil feuls with natural resources. This woman wants to live without modern technology. 'Off the grid'. She can start today if she hasn't, already.
I wish I had enough money to do this. One day, one day it shall be done.
Respect from Bamenda Cameroon

Awesome...I too am from the Cameroon tribe 28% DNA (ancestral). I did it through ancestry.com 2 years ago.
She’s searching for true freedom 💕💕💕 u go girl
very attractive lady
Don't know how real it is but I wouldn't mind finding out my origin. Tired of calling myself "African". That's a European term for Alkebulan. People living there don't call themselves African, they associate with the country in which they live. Nubians please stop all the hate on here, if you don't agree with it then just pass it by. All the racists remarks and hateful words is truly not necessary. Sad.
Conscious the country in Africa were created in 1845 so we consider much our Ethnicity. These country do not define us
Conscious I know this was 2 years late but African Americans are not "Nubians". It's annoying when people use that word, Nubians are a group of people in Sudan and basically North Eastern Africa. Please do not mix up this word, it's really annoying us all and also confusing.
Conscious no! Just no!! 😧
Are you from America?
And AFRICANS do call them selves AFRICAN
One of five of so artists who always puts out masterpiece music. Coincidentally the other few artist were also part of the soulquarians.
Dont u just love her authenticity 🧬🧬🧬🧬👸🏿👸🏿👸🏿
This woman makes me happy beyond belief. She is an inspiration. She is a sage and a prophet
As a Nigerian (Igbo) growing up in Cameroon, I used to hear my people call them 'Ndi graffi'. Now I know it's 'Grassfield people'...
Oh i love that she is from Cameroon!!! I am a Cameroonian. She is beautiful.
Hello my sister yes just got my results 99.7% Tikar
Bin A' Ludair/ Anustar how please tell me
How are you 99.7 % tikar when a dna test only gives you 0.01%
Welcome to our land. We will ditch the name Cameroon
Wow that pa with the hat is from Bambui in Cameroon... sorry he passed away...he even spoke my dialect...n prayed in Bambui
Cameroon is a great country, great culture. My X wife is Cameroonian...I went there many times. She is Mbengist...lol
💋 i AM a proud West African woman from Nigeria who is sincerely greatful for all the positive experiences many in the west & across the world are having with retracing their roots
☝HOWEVER
so much of what I've noticed is people also picking up the occult practices we Africans are being demonized and tormented by.
from ancestry worship to ceremonies that are done signifying a reconnecting to one's communal tribe.. such as what you see here with Erykah.. and also receiving honorary chieftain titles (check out Michael J. White in Ghana).
these practices are suuuuuper demonic and open up spiritual channels which give the demonic direct access to come in order to. ..
deceive.. distort.. malign.. confuse.. oppress & eventually kill you.. if you choose to remain foolishly obstinate about their activity in your life.
sooooo many practitioners and lay people who are in these circles are fleeing to T.B. JOSHUA seeking deliverance from his ministry in order to be set free and escape the torments these spirits bring..
My point is that these ceremonies invite illness.. poverty.. premature death & all forms of spiritual harassment from demonic entities posing as our so called ancestors.
PLEASE DON'T BE STUPID
and if you get a moment.. please watch👇 and allow the Lord to lead you in these types of matters💋

Ah, pathetic!
Half Bamileke here as well! So much love for sister Badu
This is so inspiring to me ERIKA has always been a very eccentric person to me as I grew with her threw her music over the years of my life. now I want to find my people as well I think this video of ERICKA finding her ancestors has now moved me to this point in my life.. It is now time to see were do I really come from . Because I was adopted and I have no idea of any family . Im going to do that swab test. Thank you for this video.
This makes me so emotional . I love the traditional outfits . Miss Badu I Love you so much and I respect your work. May the Creator of Heaven and Earth Blesses you in all your doings for the rest of your life. ✊🏼💪🏽
Proud resident of New Orleans...and a die-hard Saints and Pelicans fan!
😂😂 this video actually found me... The funny thing is I just received my African Ancestry results.
Bamileke, Cameroon. I see you mother, sister, antie. ❣

BEAUTIFUL STORY ABOUT DEVINE PEOPLES LONG LIVE AFRAKA.......peace
This is amazing! From Cameroon, beautiful! Love this! It’s is so so so important I feel that African Americans find out where in Africa you are from. It is an expansion of the mind experience which is very necessary.
Wow, Badu is from the grassland too?? Nice to know she's from the same place like myself
I am 100% Bamileke. And I tell you something! You look exactly like my eldest sister. I just forwarded this video to her.
I love this! Africa misses our lost family across the globe. Slavery messed up so much for specifically West African people. My dad used to tell me this. I want them to know who they really are when you find and learn about your culture something changes within you.
Ahhh Mz. Badu - I share in your excitement in being able to see the importance of knowing and gaining knowledge of from whence you came. Thank you for sharing you story and your talent with the world!
Your spirit and vibe has always moved me. Continued blessings!
This was so beautiful.
I love you Erykah Badu, Welcome My Cousin. I was also tested and I, am Cameroon from Tikar Tribe but we have strong connection to Bamileke tribe, we are one! ❤️🇨🇲❤️🇨🇲❤️
Indeed, we (Bamileke, Tikar, and Bamoun) all share a same ancestor. We’re family ❤️
this video just inspires me to continue being blessed and stay in my motherland Africa. I was born in Uganda , years later family migrated to South Africa. I am so glad that Erykah returned to her home Africa. Africa is beautiful and with soul.

This was awesome! And it’s so funny about time… I don’t know why I always feel like my timing is “off”. It’s a real struggle but most of the time I am on time. But my internal clock is different than what the world says. Interesting lol🥰
Are Black people in America African? I thought you were Egyptians, Moors and Hebrews. Did I miss a culture you can steal from?
But that is just one part of her DNA i want to see the rest of the results because it dosnt say what percentage of african she is . Just sayin
That would lift the lid off this farce and that is not what the channel wants. Besides, no matter her percentage and distant genetic past, she is still Erykah. A singer songwriter from the United States of America. And like most americans, her origins lie beyond the shores of that continent.
Omg she looks like him!!
This is so profound. The culture is still thriving. I wonder how she felt.
DNA can be very confusing leaving you with more questions than answers for some people. No black person is from one tribe. Especially outside of Africa, mostly due to slavery. My African ancestors are from east, North. But mostly from area of Mali to Nigeria in the west, and Congo/Cameroon central Africa- southern Bantu.
Wow! I loved that song at the end!!!
