I remember reading the 15 manga volume as a kid, there was nothing like it(to my knowledge) so I believe this was the father of anything "Battle Royale" related.
Movies like Hunger Games, The Condemned, etc...
Even games like PUBG, Fornite, heck every shooter nowadays try to implement a "Battle Royal" mode
