I own the Niro Touring, cerulean blue. Purchased in March 2017. I'm getting anywhere from 45-50 mpg's combined and I REALLY love this car! I did an astronomical amount of research before deciding to buy and I'm very happy with my decision!!
I have the LX model, bought in May. Through 6 gas fillups, I am averaging in the mid 50's MPG. I also really like the car and happy with decision.
designeranne80 I have a question. So it's a hybrid. How does that work if you can't plug it in?
You recharge the battery as you coast and brake.
The battery uses regenerative braking and coasting. The engine also generates power to the battery while driving when the on-board computer deems it necessary to use only the engine, such as when you speed up drastically (from my observation, could happen in other instances). The most beneficial power saving comes from coasting and braking though, since it doesn't use any engine power to recharge during those times. It really is an amazing engineering marvel! I love it! I am consistently getting an average of 50 mpg's now (as seen on the main panel behind the steering wheel when the car is first turned off). The lower models would get even more than the Touring. The Harman Kardon sound system is amazing too! Music is important to me!
designer- I don't know if you were aware, but the MPG displayed when you turn off car is the average for the segment driven that day- by trip or an averrage of that day, depending how close together trips are. The large MPG displayed when you drive is the total average for that tank of fuel.
I have a Niro LX. Averaging between 47-50mpg consistently. Got 53 on a road trip to the coast.
Transmission a little clicky and electric motor a little noisy, but overall very happy.

How is it now after a year of ownership?
@@suavehouse5150 good but time to upgrade something bigger such as Sorento hybrid
@@suavehouse5150 I've had our Niro for two years I love this car and in two years we had one check engine light which was fixed under warranty. Some sensor , that's it.
love the video
I could buy 2 Niro EX models for the price of 1 e-Niro....and get them within a couple of weeks, not sometime in the next year, so I have to disagree with the conclusion to just get the EV.
niro starts at $23k
This guy is full of crap, hybrids get great mileage in town where I drive most .I have a 19 niro hybrid touring , it's a great car. I previously had a focus and the Niro gets literally double the city mileage .Highways way better also. I can't think of any disadvantages of driving a Niro.
