as someone who railfans Hamilton every day I can that building is like my bestfriend me and my grandfather would sit there next to the tracks filming the trains along side the building, Im happy its in good hands.
I spent hours there in and outside it during the 1970s. Friends worked there as well as other locations and back then one could see many trains day and night. I would hand up train orders to passing trains at times and the feeling you get when standing that close to the track when one rolls by is something else. I am also glad it is saved and will be repurposed.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. By the way, the new location and very nearly the exact location is where the B&O (earlier CH&D) Freight House was located and many of the paver are along Maple Ave that were used at the Freight Houses. Another Freight House for the B&O was near that Freight House just to the east.
My hometown hamilton ohio... it was truly a blessing to be birthed there and raised. I grew up on Gordon Avenue, seeing history being saved is a great feeling. But at the same time it seems like history is being wiped every other year. Its hard to watch some things go
@@trainaficionado From what the City and a CSX rep told methe southeast end of the building were going to interfere with possible future double stacks on the Indy Sub and if the City didnt want it, they would tear it down. One Rep said they have a possible future plan for the land it occupies.

Thank you for the work you put into this video. Any idea why CSX wanted the building moved?
The long and the short of it. They don't want to be taking care of a building they are no longer using.
