This is so precious! I love that you were able to include him in your experience in a different way instead of excluding him because he couldn’t participate the same way you could. A word of warning: it looks like you guys were always staying close and taking care of this but just to anyone who buys any type of floaty boat or any type of floaty for a baby/toddler, make sure you NEVER take your eyes off your baby. The bottoms of these things can and do break off and if they do, you need to be there ready to catch your child immediately or else you will risk them drowning. Again it does look like you guys were super attentive to this this is just A warning to anyone reading.
This is definitely a really nice way! Idk if it will be much of a difference, but maybe you could try putting some water in the inflatable, so he can still interact with the water and not heat up as well.

So cute! I’m a boating instructor so I just wanted to let you know, your little one’s life jacket is a little too big! If they fall in, the water ends where the life jacket ends, and it looks like the straps are riding up to their ears. Try tightening the straps a bit more so it rides up less, or maybe a smaller size? Love the idea though!
I'm all with his type of snorkeling! I would rather keep my head and body above, and watch the things go under me lol
