I love Paula Deen and would love to see more recipes from her. My sweet aunt just passed away this spring and one of my sweet memories of her is eating cornbread and pot liquor from collard greens for lunch with her. When you mentioned it that sweet memory came back to me. Love your videos.
Momma Mel, I have watched Paula in the past , but honestly I love watching you more. You just seem down to earth and just a country girl like me. ( we are probably close in age) I love how your recipes are easy to make with ingredients easy to find. They're absolutely delicious. Plus, I feel like I am watching a wonderful friend and the fact you're a Christian means that much more ( I am a Christian also) . I have seen a few people on here that are cooks and they have a potty mouth. I don't want to watch something like that. Anyways I really enjoy your videos and delicious recipes. Thank you for sharing your time with us. May God bless you and your family .
My brother was a great baker and nailed her butter cake recipe. He has even made chocolate and marble versions of it. One of our favorites! This just made me happy seeing it in your video, we all miss him so much
So very sorry about your brother passing. I have wonderful memories of my Dad and how much he loved my cooking. May God bless you my friend always. Take care

This is the second time trying to load this comment - we are having connection problems. I just wanted to tell you how many sweet memories your hoe bread recipe brought back to me. My sweet Daddy use to make this for us kids. It was such a treat. He would make this after Momma had made a pot of "dry" beans with a ham bone or a pot of greens. This was so good with the pot liquor! I am a good cook but not as good as Daddy or Momma. Thank you for pronouncing Chicken Divan correctly because I am so country I have always said Chicken DIane - I know better now!

Hi Mel! I have a much loved Paula Deen cookbook and have tried many of the recipes. I've enjoyed them all. I used to love watching her cooking show on tv and have enjoyed her RUclips channel too. We always called it fried cornbread too. I need to make some. Haven't had them in years. Everything looks and sounds delicious! Thank you so much, Mel for sharing these with us and of course, thank you for your hard work. You're always appreciated. All of Paula's recipes I've tried have never disappointed me and I know these won't either. I hope you and your family have a beautiful and blessed week. 💜
Hey Mel!! Thank you for the distraction of cleaning up and recovering from Hurricane Milton! My mom used to add white onion (maybe it was Vidalia onion) to Johnny cakes. She didn't make them often. And you really took me back when you brought up pot liquor. I haven't heard anyone mention that in a year of Sundays. Thank you for all you do for us!
Bless you friend, you're in my thoughts and prayers. None of us here have forgotten you and what you're dealing with. I'm glad that I could take your mind off things for a little while. Love you friend ❤️🙏
I really enjoyed this video, Mel! Love it! I can't resist adding freshly ground nutmeg to mac and cheese, for a little something "extra". 😋 Thank you for sharing with us! 💜
These look good enough to eat! I think I'll try the mac & cheese and butter cake, yum. Thanks for the recipes Mel 🙂. I pray for God to bkess everyone watching your videos and you too. 💞
My mom made these corn cakes too, we all loved them and they were a treat. I really prefer mine to be fried pretty brown, they seem crispier and that’s what I love.

If you'll get rid of all the seeds and all of the white inside of the jalapenos they will not be hot. When I was little we called our fried cornbread Johnny cakes. And I just wanted to suggest stalking your pantry with cream of chicken & mushroom. It has them combined so you don't have to use both. I love watching your videos!!! I got to say though I don't like Curry and I don't like teriyaki! But to each his own, 😂. When I come to seasonings I don't like I just kind of look up to see what would be a good alternate and I always find something that I like that I can substitute it with. I don't think I ever completely follow any recipes though, that's just how I roll! God bless you and yours as you entertain us all!!!
I am so glad I found you! I used to just watch when you popped up but now I actively look for your new videos! And I’ve had that cake at Paula Deens kitchen in Gatlinburg and it’s delicious!!
The Chicken Divan I've been making for 20 years doesn't call for curry powder or any sort of wine or Sherry🤷🏼♀️. The one I make, the ingredients are layered.😁. Broccoli, chicken, then the soup, sour cream, lemon juice, cheese mixture, then top with extra cheese & buttered panko bread crumbs. Super easy & it's a family favorite.
I love how there are so many ways and various recipes for making a dish. I always say to use or substitute ingredients that your family likes. Thanks so much for watching 😊

I make this every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do not use the Floor and only couple table spoons of the sugar. Don't care for the floor just doesn't go well with it. Goes well with the ham.
I love those Granger county tomatoes. I always look for them in the store in the summer when they start coming in and of course the flea market when they set up up there, so good
The recipes look great. I don’t make casseroles a lot anymore because I need to watch what I eat or I be twice my size. I used to be skinny and could eat anything. Not anymore. But they sure look yummy.
All these recipes look great! You did Miss Paula proud. I was wondering if Patrick has any dishes he makes. He seems more than happy with your cooking! My dad made awesome scrambled eggs. His secret? Grated parmesan in the eggs. I don't think he made ANYTHING else except for grilling outside. Nope. Think he made grilled cheese, too! LOL

Can’t wait to try some of these! Yes….green onions with everything! So we’re moving to East Tennessee next spring! Guess I’ll have to change my Texas accent! Love ya Mama Mel!
I’ve made the Goey Butter Cake before and it is so good! Now gotta make it, along with all of there. And my dad would make what we just called cornbread pancakes. Just right on the griddle and we’d eat them like regular pancakes with butter and syrup.
I love almost everything Paula Deene makes. My morning starts with a cup of coffee and her latest RUclips video. You need a Rana tomato knife. All of the Rana knives are great, but my tomato knife gets a ton of use. You have to be careful with it. It can't tell the difference between a tomato and flesh..lol. You can find them in Amish stores or online. I think you would love it. Hope you have a great week ahead and God bless!
That pineapple casserole is so delicious!! I use artificial sweetener instead of regular sugar. Pineapple, cheese, butter, and ritz crackers, how can it be bad❤

If y’all find fresh jalapeño too much (as I do - sensitive stomach 😅) try the candied jalapeño ! Where I am in Shenandoah , it’s the ‘Mt. Olive’ brand.
If you want the flavor but not the heat of jalapeno cut the top off split in half remove seeds and ribs soak the jalapeno pieces in an ice bath for 10 min drain and pat dry. It might work for an extra hot onion but I haven't tried it. I love this video! Thank you
Yummy 😋 I have not had the chicken dish .. yet .. but fried cornbread is something that I am very familiar with .. I just took some out of the freezer .. it’s hard to cook for one person so I end up freezing them .. I do want to try the chicken dish … Thanks 🙏 for sharing !!!

I just saw a Martha White jalapeño cornbread mix at the store. I bet that would be good in the chicken cornbread casserole! Thanks for sharing!

Mel, I’m like you. I don’t like much heat in my food. I DO use a whole jalapeño though, seeded of course. It’s never too hot that way. Love your videos, especially the slow cooker ones.
