Another unique and interesting episode. On my way to Bangkok for a stamp auction on Saturday. I'll be sharing the APS magazine article on Exploring Stamps with fellow collectors.
I really love Your videos. Besides my traditional, general collection of my country, I'm also collecting EUROPA CEPT stamps and stamps with comic books/graphic novels.
I love EUROPA stamps and hope to do a video soon on them. Check out the recently announced Royal Mail stamps featuring Marvel heroes, you might be interested in them. Thanks for watching and glad that you like the videos :)
I collected stamps since I was 9, especially Lebanese stamps. Lebanese stamp that has a camel on it is 1949_75th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union, and 1968_Animal collection...
Greetings from Algeria, very interesting video. I collect stamps about fictitional characters: from tv shows, cinema, books, comics, animation, legends... Please Continue Great work for this channel,
Fantastic episode, how on earth did u do the trick of the wandering camel man? Among others I also collect stamp-on:stamps as my "thematic" collection. Regards, Claus
I don't really know... maybe the camel was just camera shy ;) Stamps on stamps would make a terrific collection... I come across them all the time, great stuff!
I collect the stamps of ayatollah khomeni and the ones after the Islamic revolution of Iran where the stamps became less of the monarchy and more on Islam and the people.
Fascinating! Thats an excellent example of how stamps can portray the changing sentiments or situation of a people/country. That must give a great perspective to learn from and enjoy collecting!
I thought that importation of current Iranian stamps is prohibited. I like the really old ones. Those issued before WW1 form a very fascinating history in their own right.
my theme is "airport on stamps".. As I travel a lot for work, through airport on stamps we can see how airports are significant lifelines... they're very often portrayed in the definitives of small island nations.. Also some are portrayed due to their interesting architecture or historical role
another great episode. :). I personally much prefer topical collecting also. I do Aeroplanes and WW1 + WW2 stamps. The little structure you referred to is called a spiral minaret and in early days many of them served the purpose of mosques. there is actually quite a few of them left in the world.
I collect stamps from countries I visited (France, Belgium, US) and my own Canada. Topical stamps I collect are Christmas-themed (including cinderellas), stamps commemorating the Montreal 1967 Expo, and comic book/comic strip stamps (with a strong emphasis on Tintin). As an amateur ornithologist, I'm thinking about going into birds but that feels a bit ovewhelming to me... Maybe I should concentrate on a moe specific type? Such as owls which are my favorite birds.
My thematic collection is from disney, anime, and comic stamps, and sometimes UK stamps have themes that I love like LOTR or doctor who etc. I think that's very common with female philatelists. On the other hand, I collect everything from Greece (my country)
Awesome! Those issues are becoming more and more popular with the postal services, we are seeing some exciting pop culture issues recently. I haven't done any videos on Greek stamps yet, I really hope to do one soon. Thanks for watching :D
But thats what makes the hunt so fun... When you do come across a stamp that fits your theme (random stamp lots, old albums, from friends/family)... it just makes the find so rewarding ;)
I collect Christmas stamps. So far I haven't put any other rules to it, but since it grows every year, I might have to be more picky; are "December stamps" really Christmas stamps or not... Because if I rule them out, stamps from the Netherlands won't be part of my collection anymore. I have still time to think, luckily stamps don't take that much space.
Hmm, I'll leave that up for you to decide... but thats an ambitious and fun thematic. The fact that the thematic is ongoing and grows every year is great, it just means that there is so much more to look out for and collect....Maybe a particular type of Christmas stamp will inspire you to hunt down a specific collection....
I don't think that the image within the crescent is a dhow. The same symbol appeared on the 1963 South African Red Cross Centenary stamps but alongside a red cross rather than a crescent. I'm surprised that you did not find one of the Commonwealth omnibus issues (all same design, just the country name and currency varied). Maybe you will get a chance to do an omnibus program.
I agree, I saw the symbol several times elsewhere after doing this episode. I was unable to find any additional information on what the symbol is, so I’m hoping someone watching recognizes it and has an answer 🤷♂️
1:31 most countries that Issued 100 Year anniversary of the red cross in 1963 and only this year have the boat symbol with the red Cross or the red Crescent. I think its the logo of (100 years International Red Cross) and this symbol might be some kind of flame that lights the way because in some stamps we can see a hand holding the flame.
Well my tastes for collecting spans a wide range. Early France, Germania Deutches Reich, from there I go with what looks interesting. I believe my oldest stamp is from 1898 from Germany, or 1896 from another. Not really collected for any value. Its just because they look interesting. Or for the sake of the history behind them. Take care.
Have many areas I collect: including all different, tanks 50, rabbits 30 & motorcycles 117! Enjoy your feed, thanks for promoting stamp collecting!

Exploring Stamps most definitely

Ah thank you... A spiral minaret! I wouldn't have known how to find that out, but that is definitely it. Thanks Johan!
you are most welcome. :)

@@ExploringStamps it would be great to do a video with Greek stamps. If you need any stamps, I would be glad to help you
Awesome :-)
My topic collection is international 😊
Hmm, don't be too specific there Tsuki, you will box yourself in ;)
Not interested in also doing a side 'topical' collection?
Exploring Stamps Maybe but its just scarce for me to get stamps
But thats what makes the hunt so fun... When you do come across a stamp that fits your theme (random stamp lots, old albums, from friends/family)... it just makes the find so rewarding ;)

I went to Djibouti several times...
Don't think too many people can say that :-)
Right now I am trying to collect stamps from each country/state/emiratte that has issued stamps
Thats how I started. Very rewarding and a lot of fun... keep it up!
Thank you

First!
Afghanistan 1997 stamp is illegal stamp!!! In 1990s Afghanistan was ruled by talibans, and issuing of stamps was stopped!
Mocanu Alexandru Spooky!!
I did not know this! Hey I guess 'Illegal Stamps' could also be a thematic to collect ... (I have a few to start already) :D
Exploring Stamps Maybe,Lets just hope we dont get caught by Stamp Police
