    My grandma is FROM fuquay and stated the Fuquay Consolidated African American school is the real history of the place and the formerly all white school Fuquay Springs High. She feels that is grossly overlooked and I can agree with that

    I thought is was a nice town when we moved here (little over a year ago) but there is an overpopulation problem. And construction of new homes on every open piece of land. Wish there were more home cooking restaurants and not fast food. Overall good video though. 👍

    Juxtaposition of new and old, right and left. A couple of gun shops, Tractor Supply, and a Walmart that (at least pre-pandemic) sold horse meds. But next door could be an artisan bakery, breweries, Aldi, Krispy Kreme, and thrift stores to thrill any millennial. Housing is WAY more affordable than anything else on the western side of Wake, and one of your neighbors will likely give you veggies from the garden, and know how to break down your car engine.

      And you can buy baby chicks at tractor supply in the spring…just check with your HOA first 😂

    You know I grew up here and all the big renovations and all the people coming has completely made the place I grew up go away I’m actually leaving from how bad the traffic is and the fact it is so expensive anyone I knew has already left… Fuquay should’ve stayed to it’s roots but ig moneys more important than the people who made this town what it is 🥴🤷‍♂️

      You got it!! I’ll probably do one a month. Cary is a pretty big town so that might be hard to cover in one video but I’ll see what I can do! I guess people can speed it up if it’s boring but then they wouldn’t get my fascinating commentary 😂 😂

    One problem is no right of way left turns. Even school busses have to wait in the middle of the road for the red light and run it!! Also no crossing signals for walkers.

    It's nice that smaller towns and suburbs around Raleigh are seeing the value in maintaining and investing in their downtowns after decades of many of them mostly ignoring them in favor of strip mall development.

    • @EllenPitts
      @EllenPitts  Год назад

      I agree! I think it’s also a matter of population and being able to compete with Walmart. When we moved here, the population of Fuquay was like 6000. And Walmart came in just a couple of years later. It’s really hard for mom and pops to compete with that in such a small town. Now that Fuquay is more populated, it’s easier to compete.

    Can you do one of Wake Forest?? This is AMAZING, just what my wife & I want to see to get a great feel for the area. We actually drove through Holly springs looking at homes but we never got the chance to drive thru Fuquay with what little time we have down there :)

    Very good video capturing the essence of F-V.. In addition, there is the area that has newly built homes but journey in or out of those complexes the surrounding ventures would be just as you have shown. I was heavily considering buying a house in F-V. The homes offered there are often bigger and are very tempting. However after going there and experiencing the grittiness (good choice for the description!) and finding it really was further a field to more major areas we nixed the idea. Your video also showed me the older neighborhoods which appear to contain a lot of ambience and well cared for. Despite being there a few times I had never noted that part. Very interesting video and important for your buyers to know just how far out they would be if living in FV. Our choice spot is Apex, Cary and parts of Durham but we also now considering Holly Springs. FV is definitely a different scene - much more a rural feel with the arrival of funky hip places and growing commercialism thrown in.

    Lived her for 15 years, it was nice till about 6 years ago traffic is horrible in this area and the school systems aren't great either I went through from k-12 the elementary schools were the only good thing, middle and high has a huge issue with bullying and the schools never did anything to prevent it. Walmart parking lot next to Home Depot is sketchy, especially in the evening, I used to be the waitress at King Chinese buffet there. Had a lot of creepy run ins. The only good thing about this area is the mom and pop shops and local restaurants. It's more of a town to visit. There is nothing really to do other than bar's and Axe throwing.

    IMO Stephenson's didn't go out of business because of Home Depot, they went out of business because of the Great Recession. A big part of their business was catering to builders with lumber packages and when the builders stopped, their business took a nosedive.
