Thanks DC, another great episode and review. Magene has earned a good reputation in the industry over the past couple of years, that, along with your input would definitely put these on a list of wheels to consider. I absolutely believe that the Eastern brands, especially for carbon wheels are leading the pack. I cannot see any reason why one would spend twice as much for a Western brand, I can't see the difference in quality or performance at this time.
while Roval, DT SWISS or Zipp wheels might be worse on paper, they offer better warranty replacement policies and sponsor world tour teams. Additionally, reputation is a big thing among the egotistic cycling crowd so you won't see many Chinese wheels pop up any time soon. I still bought the Elitewheels Helix upon release because I don't care what others think.
Batman! Always pleasure hearting from ya! At $1199, still seems a tad high if you ask me all things considered.

Great video! I recently ordered them and am awaiting delivery. This company seems to be gaining space and trust in the cycling world. But people still confuse a Chinese brand with a Chinese copy and this is what Magene is making clear: They are a good brand that can compete with any other well-known brand. I will share my opinion once I receive them.

(I live by the beach) I currently have a set of the Hollowgram R-sl 50's & have been looking at staggered depth sets. The main contender so far is the Scribe Élan 4250-d, (you don't have a review in the works do you?) but this seems like another one to look at! Thanks!

I am a really big fan!! I am curious if carbon spokes make a wheel too stiff to handle well cornering?? A weak hypothesis would be...like in MTB a wheel that is too stiff can loose traction during cornering, can this also be true on the road? Maybe for these wheels?? I am in anticipation of your ride reviews.

Hi Carl!! Thanks for your time watching and the kind words left on here. Although I kept saying how I would keep my opinions to myself in this episode, I will at least answer your question - I personally (your mileage may vary) did not notice any issues cornering. That said, I don't know how much the aero spokes really helped themselves in terms of bringing aero gains. The rims are good, spokes are good, and the stiffness overall on climb not a bad set at all. At about $899 I think these would be a sweet buy in my opinion.
@@DiabeticCycling Dear DC,, WOW! The personal response was TOTALLY AWESOME. I was a fan before.... Now I love you!!! But in a heterosexual way. Just as a side note, the price I saw was approximately $1300 (maybe a different model, I will review the details). Probably still a sweet buy. LOL sorry.... I am such a n00b I forgot to weigh them, nor did the sound check. Probably because I personally don't care for the freehub soundcheck myself. But I definitely should have done that since everyone loves that bit. I learn. I won't mess up next time. :)

I normally enjoy all your videos because you offer your personal opinions based on the vast number of products you have experience with. But today's video was very disappointing since the core of what makes your videos enjoyable was completely left out. It felt like the only thing you provided was reading of Magene's specifications and a vague thoughts on Chinese wheel brands. The conclusion..."These wheels don't suck, but I won't get into how good they are compared to the big brands."

Hi there. 10000% valid in your observations, and I appreciate you dropping your thought here. I was trying to be careful not to make this a review episode as me coming on here with a wheelset provided to me at no cost citing how these are the greatest wheels ever as that is the very ethos I am against. Matter of fact, the sole reason I started this channel is to provide an audience with nothing but 100% thoughts and opinions. This is also the reason I haven't accepted product offerings by many companies who either offered me products or small fee to produce something for them. Once such an exchange is made, my presentation for you to accept me as being objective is out the window I completely recognize. I did this one and Cycplus pumps only because I saw value in making my viewers be aware of products I felt reasonable, and some money saving codes for those are actually interested. I am here for my audience. I do not need to make a dime off this channel, I make plenty of money with my day job. What was a service to my community, I agree with you, that it may have come off with a different context despite positioning the episode as a demo showcase not a review. Hi Rob. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your words. This isn't meant to be an excuse but I did try and say how this episode wasn't a review, more a demo showcase. I also was not paid anything other than the product offered to me to show to my audience. In terms of comparison with other competing brands and products, I will be coming out with that in a separate episode later where my thoughts and opinions can be sprinkled in. Due to this being a demo showcase episode, I tried my best to keep my thoughts to myself as me rambling on about how great something is when provided to me would have zero substance to the audience.
