hi just found your video and its good , can you tell me how much tippet you add to your leader ? I haven't fished spiders and in mid wales the rivers are a lot smaller and I mostly have to roll cast, would a point fly and one dropper be ok due to casting probs with trees and amazon like bank growth
using a furled leader of 3 or 4ft and a cast or tippet of 8ft for 3 flies or 6ft for two flies, work from the point fly back by 3ft to the next dropper up as the furled leader will roll the flies out beautifully.
Paul I really enjoy watching your videos. It is close season here in Australia and I am spending the time tying flies for the Spring. I think your spider patterns may work very well here. Do you have a link to how they are tied and materils used. Tight lines!
Hi Norman the spiders are quite simple really if you have access to any Oliver Edwards videos on youtube the tying of the patterns can be found there. I use a water hen bloa pattern, a stuarts black spider and a snipe and purple. If you have difficulty finding the videos I will get the dressings for you. Regards Paul.
Hi Gary, it depends on what you need, if you want depth then flurocarbon but if you just want to fish dry fly then copolymer or nylon. The diameter is up to you, if you are using 4lb tippet or 5lb tippet then 7lb is the line used for the furled leader as you need it to taper down to your tippet material. I use a four strand to a two strand to a single with a perfection loop which would be the 7 lb and I make it roughly 4 ft in length but you can make it any length you want as I have them in 2,3, 4 and 6 ft lengths. If you want I will be incorporating a furled leader segment in a dry fly video which I will be uploading soon and everything will be revealed then. Regards Paul.
Wow there is some nice places, I love trout fishing and posting videos

Very windy to be out, can’t beat the spiders, anytime I’m on the river a spider will always be on my leader
True a very effective pattern for any type of trout fishing.
what rod length and weight do you use for that fishing ?
Enjoyed your video. Also envious that you live in Kerry, one of the most beautiful places in the world. :-)
Great stuff P!
Thanks for the comment tight lines.
Great video...
Thanks for the comment.
Your the man.
Thanks Vincent, roll on next year.
Use a long steel leader maybe?
Hi Marie, the trout would see the steel wire and shy away but luckily they don't have sharp teeth so flurocarbon or copolymer line is best.
