@NotZeet The movie was a comedy or the recap? 'cuz the movie itself is a Dramatic Comedy, and it's one of my favorite movies and my favorite Will Ferrell role for the same reason as OP mentions.
@NotZeet While there are comedic parts of the movie, Will Ferrell isn't playing a 'comedic' character in it, unlike other movies where he plays someone who personality-wise is over the top. His role in the movie IS a dramatic, serious type role, and it's one of his best roles, which does in fact show that he can play dramatic characters. I don't see how the type of role he played is even a question O.o
This is honestly the only Will Farrell movie I can stand, I think all of his others (at least the ones where he's the main character,) are retarded af.
What an emotional rollercoaster! I was afraid for our protagonist. He was finally living his best life when the confronted the person who literally had his life in her hands. Then the ending made my eyes moist. I'm not crying, Minute Movies! You're crying!
This is a great movie. I love it when he initially hears, “Harold doesn’t know he’s about to die” I thought that was the first thing he heard. Also, Harold could choose between a baker or someone else (can’t remember) and he chose the baker bc he thought she’d be easier to work with. The recap is really good but it can’t fully capture how interesting this movie is. It’s funny but not totally slap stick which is kinda what we expect from Will Ferrell and it’s touching but not sappy. If you haven’t seen this movie yet then you should seek it out, especially if you liked the recap. You won’t be disappointed. Well…. Unless based on my comment and the recap you put the movie up on a crazy high pedestal then maybe you’ll be disappointed. It’s a good movie but it won’t change your whole life. It won’t make everything great for you. It’s just a movie that will give you a lil break from your reality but it can’t magically change your reality bc again, it’s just a movie
I'm a filmmaker. I've been obsessed with tv and movies my whole life. My first real love of tv started with Barney and Blues Clues and moved to Power Rangers and so many more. I have seen many things. Good tv and movies. Bad tv and movies. Loved and hated them. This movie is in my top 10 favorite movies ever created and I honestly think its one of the best. Its a simple story that gets built up so powerfully. From top to bottom this movie is perfect. It doesn't need action scenes or explosions or crazy earth shattering plot twists. Its just a powerful story of a man, hearing the voice of, what I assume is a fucking demigod or fortuneteller, telling him he's going to die, and him trying to stop it and finding love and the meaning of living in the process. That shit is so beautiful to watch unfold onscreen and its so poignant. Everything feels so grounded yet it makes the supernatural aspect of a character being able to hear the narrator of his life just....fit. And it works so well! When you first see it, you think he's actually gonna die and it really is perfect because we watched her whole book play out. It honestly made me wanna see her other books and its such a perfect self-contained story. It's a movie you can watch any and all the time and never get tired of it. Everything about this piece just works and I'm thankful it was made. You really feel for Harold and hope he doesn't die but when the kid and the bus lady just keep popping up, you're trying to piece WHY they're even there when they've done nothing the entire movie and then it all comes together in the end? Just....*chef's kiss*. Couldn't have wrote it better myself. I'm glad you covered this. You made a funny commentary on one of my favorite flicks and I appreciate it. I wish this movie was talked about more because it deserves it. Its funny, its emotional as you grow to love Harold. Just can't gush enough about it.
Dude was really like nah bro just die LOL. But really have to give our hero props normally when a person does something like that they don't have time to fully think about the consequences. He knew he would get hit by a bus and die beforehand and still did it. What a guy, glad he got a happy ending even if it made the book "less poetic" I don't like tragedy anyway. There's enough of that in real life! I like my stories happy or at least to end happy.
The writer lady is crazy, the fact that she and that other man who once taught her to write were actually going to killl this man because the ending of the book was too good wth is wrong with them 😳
Will Ferrell can act, it's a pity he was a 'flash in the pan' and was only liked for his comedy. I hated his comedy but really enjoy him doing a dramatic role
Why is this even a movie when everybody has a voice in your head some peoples voice narrates, others, instill, doubt, causing someone to procrastinate way more than they should! Have you been heard stories of people, telling a judge and jury that their voice told them that it was OK or just told him straight up that they need to kill so & so? ! There was this guy that was sleeping in the basement of a house his family just purchased, and it reached a point that his voice wasn’t communicating nearly that much to the point where he actually testified that his dog started talking to him and told him that he needed to kill everyone in his family and they were humans or something! However, I think that story is overly exaggerated, I think when the family purchased a house in Amityville, one thing led to another financially, so they exaggerative the story that the previous owners were all killed, except for the one survivor that happened to be the one doing the killing!
NGL I've never been a Will Farrell fan because I don't find him very funny, but this seems like a movie I would enjoy him in. Comments are verifying my thoughts on him and this movie being outstanding and well worth finding and watching.
Am I the only one that doesn’t like queen Latifah? Rather, she’s the main character, or the supporting character, “ even worse is when she’s supposed to be the comic relief” She’s not funny, it’s almost like the writers told her that you’re going to say this lying and when you’re finished, it’s supposed to derive laughter because that line is a ha ha moment! Problem is any time she has dialogue in a movie, she delivers every sentence as if it’s the end of a joke,
I hate this movie so much, it's boring and it ruins the music of Spoon for me, but Minute Movies did the perfect recap. Don't watch Stranger Than Fiction, just watch Minute Movies!
This movie is not talked about enough since it shows the Will Ferrell can do dramatic roles
@NotZeet The movie was a comedy or the recap? 'cuz the movie itself is a Dramatic Comedy, and it's one of my favorite movies and my favorite Will Ferrell role for the same reason as OP mentions.

I agree. I love this film. Glad Will was able to show he has great acting talent. Not just a comedy actor.
